  1. I don't know if this is allowed but I sell them too and also a few other kinds of treat pouch and can post to you. I am in qld. My site is www.dogmatters.com.au
  2. Yes definitely a girl. :) We did a pink theme with streamers, balloons and pink paw prints. I did up little gift boxes full of dog treats for people's dogs. We played baby shower games adapted to puppies and dogs, I got dog related gifts and even a "It's a girl" baby shower card LOL A good friend of mine who loves dogs organised it all for me and she made heaps of food - paw print cookies, paw print mini muffin papers, dog shaped sandwiches, heaps of food. I owe her one big time! It was so fun. We both wish we had thought of it for our previous dogs :)
  3. Reactivity is often worse on leash as the dog feels more trapped and cant escape so they feel they need to defend themselves often taking the preemptive strike. Some dogs are only reactive when on lead for this reason.
  4. Only 2.5 weeks to go! And only one week from Sunday until I meet the pups and find out which one I am getting. I have photos from the breeder and they are so cute. On the 8th June I had my first ever puppy shower. It was so much fun. I think every dog lover should have one. Check out the cake -
  5. Sorry you went through this Jelly. I think you should take nek up on her offer to introduce him to rogue and Mina! Thanks for keeping us updated. I missed the thread and roo pics while you were away.
  6. Has anyone done this successfully? There are a few videos on youtube that have had good results attaching it to the front of a harness for a dog's point of view video. Other people attach it to the back/top of the harness but I think I would prefer the front. Ideally I'd like to be able to make it work on a small sized dog. Any ideas?
  7. The recent arrivals here are so cute! Congrats everyone
  8. I was thinking of maybe naming my puppy Envy, if its a girl. :) I am so bad at names but I want something good.
  9. My puppy is one week old today. 7 weeks to go!
  10. You're most welcome. I give it to my clients when discussing socialisation I also just had a long chat with a vet who is a new friend of mine the other day and found out heaps about how vaccines work with timing and she was very interested in the socialisation side of things too.
  11. For those asking questions about when it's safe to socialise with vaccinations I found this article really helpful. Socialisation is so important. http://avsabonline.org/uploads/position_statements/puppy_socialization.pdf
  12. From what I can understand in our area people don't usually make the effort to do the right thing and apply for a permit before getting the dog. They most often use it after they have already caught someone out with three dogs and they are made to make the application. So the form is designed for someone who already has the dog. It doesn't make sense to me either.
  13. I was so upset when we first got Chester. I thought we would never bond. He didn't want a bar of us. He hated affection and seemed to always want to get away. He came around and we definitely bonded slowly over time and now he is a big sooky cuddle bum and loves affection. With Lola we bonded straight away. Don't be discouraged, it will come. It depends on the dog and their personality :)
  14. Yes, same here. I think it's a rip off. I think the permit should be for the life of the dogs at least, with a disclaimer that if there's valid complaints it can be withdrawn. I think if there are complaints they can be withdrawn here too, but its not very clear. Will have to double check.
  15. Depends on the council area I think. I am wondering whether to apply for 4 straight up,save applying again later, ya know, just in case ;) ETA the only thing is you need to know all the details about the dog straight up. Breed, colour, sex, name, chip number. Its meant to be for people to apply after they have the dog. They even told me to wait until the new pup is 12 weeks old but I feel like its safer to have it all approved before I get the pup.
  16. I am applying for my third dog permit in a couple of weeks. Its $164 for the application which is a one off fee and then $94 to register the dog. The registration fee is then payable annually. They don't offer concession for desexing on the third or fourth dog. It's 4 maximum.
  17. Melina Bea, I'll definitely be driving down end of June when pups are 7 weeks to find out which one I am getting/choose with the breeder. But I might try to do a trip before then to see them if I can fit it in. Then back down at 8 weeks to bring him/her home! Time is flying because I have so much on. About to move in less than 2 weeks. Glad that will be well out of the way before puppy time!
  18. My puppy was born on Friday!! The litter was 1 boy and 5 girls so odds are I'll be getting a female.
  19. Just read the thread> Congrats on your decision - I think you will be very happy with your choice. :) I have a puppy on the way. I suck at names. I want a really good name this time. Been trying to think of one for, oh, I don't know... a few years  I love the Aussies. I have a border collie and a spaniel x terrier. The spaniel x is the crazy nut of the two and has more energy. Both dogs are lots of fun. I like high energy dogs.
  20. I have paid my deposit and my pup's litter is due this weekend! I can't wait to see what comes out. Hoping for a nice big and healthy litter :D Everything happening all at once here and time is flying. We just bought a house (our first) which settles around the end of this month so moving, and then puppy is due a month after that. Puppy shower in the mean time. Crazy!! But all positive :)
  21. I'm sorry Dexter is going through this. I can only imagine how hard it must be. I'm sure he will improve by the time you go away. Do you have someone he knows looking after him while you're gone?
  22. I agree too. I don't find it funny for any size dog. It's sad, wrong, a concern, and if they are laughing or thinking it's a big joke, it's idiotic. It's especially frustrating when you are working on a dog with issues like the GSD you have and you are doing all the right things and others ruin it with their stupidity. The other afternoon walking Chester (who has some reactivity issues) we walked past another border collie and I kept myself between and didn't stop to let them 'socialise' like the other owner wanted to but kept walking and spoke to him briefly as we walked parallel (he is an acquaintance) and then they had a brief sniff at the end and all was ok. Then we met a puppy and that was all really positive too and I was feeling very happy with this walk for Chester. Then I see someone else I know and she has her old dog, medium size and it was going balistic thrashing on the lead and barking at Chester and she just kept trying to talk to me over the top of her aggressive dog without doing anything and I just had to speed up and pass her. But so annoying. Just glad these dogs were on lead which is better than the average day around here.
  23. The Canine Classroom now runs at Brisbane on a Sunday and pretty sure it's the north side as they are based at the Sunshine Coast.
