I see so many dogs that would have such great potential with the right training, I guess to a degree all pet dogs have the potential and it just depends if the owner can bring it out. Sometimes I think it is unfair though. For example, I would love a malinois, it is my goal. Yet even though I have the skills required I am putting it off because I know its such a huge commitment. Its like I want everything to be perfect first. So I'm not sure when it will happen. But then I see things like a working line malinios pup that the owners have bought purely for a pet with no plans for him whatsoever and they have little or no training skills and I just think its not fair - especially not fair on the dog. I guess thats the way things go. Obviously people are choosing the wrong dogs for their situation and its a common thing. Do you see this a lot and how does it usually turn out?

He looks lovely. I met a cocker x BC that used to live nearby and she looked very similar.

We just went away and left our dogs at my parents house. I was going crazy worying about them. We bought a infrared IP camera for $45 ish from ebay including postage. You can tune into it from smartphone or computer from anywhere and I'm sure there would be a way to record too. You can move this one 360 degrees as well. Then Dad wanted some of these cameras as payment for dog sitting saying we can tap into them, so we got two more for $70 each for him. It was great being able to see the dogs while we were overseas.

No, but I have tried it on myself for insomnia. I have heard of using it on dogs though, I read about it in the Steven Lindsay behaviour books. Maybe ask in the training/behaviour section?
-
I know Steve does distance learning things so that may be an option. Or someone else might do that sort of thing too.

Thanks :) Username is what we call Lola sometimes :) I believe he is in Kurrajong, but no idea where that is.

I'm not sure of the geographics of NSW sorry, but what about Steve from K9pro? I think an e-collar would be the most reliable method, this is what they use with some of the dogs doing conservation work to prevent them going for a snake while they are out in the bush.

Poor woman! I agree the video was absolutely heart wrenching When will dog owners get the message?

Oh no that's awful I stayed there the first time I went to Fiji back in 2006... The Fijians were so lovely.. Hopefully it doesn't mean they are out of a job.... No way! They seem to be coping well. They are transferring some guests to their sister resort up the road but they are still operational at the Naviti. They are using their chinese restaurant as the main restaurant for now. Many locals and tourists have come to help. I was concerned for the nearby villages that rely on the tourists but it seems like they will keep operating as close to normal as they can. They have a FB page with photos and updates of how they are going.

Thanks tlc, they always have a ball at the beach. This was the first time I took the DSLR to the beach with them. Lola is bouncing in these photos - she does a spring pouncing thing constantly in the shallows - she is looking for "fish" to chase. She gets a lot of on-lookers laughing out loud at this springing dog LOL  Chester just runs back and forth in and out of the water and keenly watches whether I am going to produce a toy to chase.

Thank you, yes he is a red BC, very handsome. Isn't Lola pretty too? She is a mutt LOL. Cocker spaniel cross mini foxie, so they told us. yes :D Lola is pretty, they make a good looking couple! I only caught Chester because that's my boys' name too :) They get on well together, Lola is Boss with a capital B  they compliment each other. She is a loud mouth bossy pants and he is quiet and sooky. I think it mirrors my husband and I..... I always notice your Chester too, because of the name :) I have been lurking in all the photo threads thinking I must get back into posting some!

I completely missed the last challenge! Been busy but still been taking a lot of photos, just not doing anything with them afterwards! I soooo wish I had got Chester's whole body and tail in this one! DSC_1438 DSC_1445 DSC_1485 DSC_1512 DSC_1499

Its the panasonic Lumix FT4. It goes 12m underwater but I'm sure you can also get a dive housing to take it deeper. These were without flash. I tried the flash and it ruined my photos as the flash caught on all these floating specs and bubbles Make sure you read my commentary lol

We got the bad news that the day after we left, the main area of the Naviti resort where we stayed, was burned down A fire started in the kids club area and destroyed it, the shops, three restaurants, the entertainment areas & main bar.

Jamie's grandmother stayed on the boat and tried some fishing Then back to the pool bar where I had two cocktails way too fast and had to go lie down. You don't get to see the photos of that! At dinner Fun pics of us with some of the local entertainers Circling Brisbane airport waiting to land on our way home PHEW that was a lot of work! Hope you enjoy it. There is a video to come with all the highlights. Uploading to youtube.

Fishies, they told us they would find us Nemo LOL but these aren't clown fish right? As they only have one stripe? The guide dived down and grabbed this and passed it to me with something living in it! I quickly passed it on! To Jamie LOL Each snorkelling environment was different
-
Then we did another tour through the village. This was a snorkelling tour where they were meant to take us out on a glass bottom boat but it was broken so they took us on a normal boat but not very far from the shore. We couldn't get snorkel gear from the activities desk at the resort in time like they told us to, so the guy took us to his house to get some gear, which was all very leaky and dodgy. The view from his house One of his dogs Our transport, very different to home! We then walked through a destroyed resort that was ruined in a cyclone View from the boat

And these, I like these photos, what is this thing? And then there was this, a Crown of Thorns Jamie says

Snorkelling was great. I was impressed with the camera. If I had some skill with it they would be awesome. Big respect for kja, taking photos of fish was so hard! Lots of starfish and they stay still lol Does anyone know what these fish are? They were very curious and somewhat aggressive. They would come at you snapping their teeth at you, you could hear it!
