  1. I only tell people who know where I am coming from when I lose a pet after an EX friend told me "it's only a dog whats the big deal?" I just had to distance from her after that it really broke my heart she said that. A woman I know had to take 3 weeks leave when her dog died, she just couldn't function and took it really bad.
  2. poor bubby ... Hopefully his OK though.. wouldn't like the thought of him being in pain etc
  3. Poor woman.. glad she has Happy to help her out.
  4. It makes me mad that some people think they can blame anything on the Rottis and excuse their own poor dogmanship. Sending big Christmas hugs to all the gorgeous Rottis out there! Souff ;) Thanks Souff. I will pass on your wishes to our kiddies. Yes, we wear that sort of thing all the time. That is why when you own the types of breeds that tend to get blamed before they have done anything, you often end up deciding not to attend places like leash free parks, even if they are bomb proof, don't rush and have excellent recalls. Just not worth the grief. My breed means too much to me to risk it receiving further negative publicity than is necessary. god help me when Tahls gets bigger
  5. Maybe I would worry about it more if people in my neighbourhood didn't smash glass and leave it everywhere or leave beer bottles and rubbish all over the park. I spend half the time cleaning when I take pup for a walk, so if she wants to go on a nature strip she can..#1 I mean. Thanks for the tips on teaching on command, will give it a go.
  6. I agree, would work in a perfect world but no one does it. I can stand there like a fool and no one would do it but it wont turn me away from the dog park because others might not agree to it (mind you I don't go very often, I prefer the local dogs we know). I'd love for dogs to meet that way but just doesn't happen. Locally, we all meet through the fence first, then in the park, ask how the dog is etc and you can usually tell whether they will get on or not then let them off leash.

    Tess

Brought tears to my eyes. So sorry for your loss
  8. Ah well the only things in life guaranteed are death and taxes. Hope she pulls through which she should. It's no disease by any means.
  9. I know isn't that funny Wilbur, very small world!! Who would have thought 2 of us would be both on here at lunch time you knew exactly what I was talking about! I saw someone called the police rescue, they came they saw they left, I gathered they couldn't do much about it but nice to know a lot of people care.
  10. So sorry to hear good luck with it all such a horrible thing to go through. Storms have been really nasty today. Hurry home Tess!!
  11. With further investigation, it's a penthouse and has area out the back which you can't see unless you walked around. Seems to have shelter but I wouldn't know whats out there. Crossing fingers it has kennel or something to do up there at least.
  12. Hmmm what that lady doesn't understand is she wouldn't have a clue whether her pups make it to the pound or not. Obviously doesn't give a rats about dogs all she wrote about was $$$
  13. That's just awful for anyone to have witnessed, how sad and disgusting.. I hope they get in trouble for that.. Keep us updated
  14. I just heard it might be a cleaners dog so will keep eye on it.. Just get worried that's all it's just a bit sad, no shelter or anything but maybe people aren't living in there yet..
  15. Hi All, I work across the road from a high-rise apartment building and noticed a jack russell type dog has been left on the balcony on the top floor no access inside, couldn't see a kennel but the dog is jumping up and down wanting to get inside. No one seems to be home everything is shut and blinds down. I just worry he could jump high enough and fall off, bit OTT but want to know what everyone thinks? I don't have anything against dogs in an apartment but seems a bit dangerous being that high and the balcony has gaps underneath and not really high enough for a dog imo. I'm a bit of a worry wart.
  16. Sorry if I am blind is this up yet? can't find it anywhere
  17. Well Tahli does a full circle around the bowl before she starts to eat, some weird ritual it seems.
  18. A friend of mine split from partner and had 2 dogs couldn't bear separating them, so they shared, he would come visit the dogs or he could take the dogs for the weekend etc and work it out like some people do with kids. Suppose depends if the both of you cant come to an agreement. But there's a lot more involved in that sort of decision and can get difficult (if you live far away etc) so it might work for certain people, it did with them. Depends where you end up too I suppose.. Good luck hope if works out for you
  19. I feel sorry for the animals, whatever is going on has to be a reason and hopefully (not saying is the case) but from other comments here, I hope they haven't done something that now puts the animals at risk of not finding homes..
  20. Sorry a bit confused with the response, are you not going to adopt her back later? It was my work xmas party last night I'm a bit off
  21. I have no answer for you but all the best for your boy hope everything works out OK. :D I really hate not knowing what's going on it's the hardest thing.
