  1. And like the comments of some readers on the page, no investigation at all whatsoever, just put down the dog. I know a dog biting a human isn't a good thing but no one really knows the circumstances if the kid taunted it or something. I'd like the know how long the dog was there for before this incident happened. It still amazes me it always seems to be kids who are getting bitten.
  2. 1. Dog shouldn't have been tied up outside, think we all know that, that's just unfair just leave the dog at home like normal people do if your going shopping. 2. The kid would of had to approach the dog no question in my mind he only walked past and got attacked. Then again his 12 years old, I might understand if it's a child under 9 or something but not a 12 year old. Very sad for the boy and the dog.
  3. Depends where you are? We get together at our local park with a few other dogs most nights I'm in South West.
  4. What a toughie!! and pat on the back for all involved I bet Carrie can't wait to get home
  5. I agree, rehome pup and don't get another for a while until she has her own place. Poor pup, hope it finds a nice home
  6. Thanks Nekhbet, I started to think she's getting bored of food You put it all back into perspective for me. I'm having this issue with Tahli too, not that I hand feed or anything but sometimes she will sniff and walk away, other times she guts' it. I need to be more strict with timing.
  7. I think breeders have the right to decide who can take the pup home, no one elses decision. I suppose with more and more apartments going up now, this will come up more often and a decision breeders will be faced with more frequently.. I wonder if rescues take this into account too? We were told pretty much a yard is a must, I doubt we could have taken Tahli home living in an apartment (large breeds I mean)
  8. Oh yeah I know what your talking about, was the very first thing in that movie. Maybe should watch it again so we know what we are in for lol. Totally weird.
  9. Tahli sleeps wherever I sleep, if I accidentally don't wake up on the lounge, she is on the floor next to me, if I'm in bed she's in bed. I love it that way which is my choice. I hear more and more people these days who have their dogs on the bed, nothing wrong it's personal choice and I love snuggles. :D
  10. Perhaps many think you shouldn't have to work with dogs (training, exercise). They just come home with you and they are supposedly perfect. Some cases you might strike luck but I suppose that could be rare. For cats, I'm not so sure.
  11. Geezus, Wants a bargain for a dog??. Well they have no idea what costs are involved for keeping the dog healthy. This just infuriates me, this is advertising people to "search" on facebook to buy dogs for a fraction of the price. I can't imagine this dog would be looked after very well at all with that attitude.
  12. Awww he is so beautiful!! Is he named yet?
  13. Congrats on new puppy, pics is a must now!!!
  14. It sounds like a good idea to me, but might not stop impulse buying, some just don't care as long as they get the pup NOW. I spoke to my niece about this and we were talking about pet shops, her bf was going to buy her a puppy from a pet shop, I said nooooo. I told her what goes on and she says she will stay away. But she couldn't stop the "but they are soooo cute" I think they should just be banned from selling live animals, I can't see what else you can do, there are a lot of people out there who simply don't care about the background of where the pups come from or are easily convinced if the pet shop says "they came from breeders"
  15. I can't get over this show I watched a while ago, this dog ate so many white big pebbles from outside it was the scariest thing. I reckon there was at least 50 in there Hank my beloved boxer had a stick lodged in there, seriously thought he wouldn't make it but he did. One of my friends said their dog ate a V can I just cannot comprehend, she was totally fine though (checked out of course).
  16. I just saw on Today show this morning about what to do with dogs tonight. Leave them inside, in secure place, close windows, or have someone stay with them. Dr Katrina had a dog on there who jumped an 8ft fence last year. Scary thoughts. Tahli is being taken to my mums tonight she stays home with all the dogs a whole 5 of them. She has been good with storms, but I've heard a few firworks and crackers being let off in the last week and she would just bark at them. I don't want to leave her alone just in case. Fireworks just annoy me anyway, I agree, why can't we have laser shows ?
  17. Yes, my previous Rotti's Zahr & Zolly from way back, we would take them on a walk together along the Princes Hwy sometimes then around the blocks late at night, no idea why but we did (we all went, I was a kid and way too strong for me!) and we came across a man in front of a car yard. He started to talk to us, he was a bit weird from what I can remember very suss, and my uncle being the talkative type was chatting and the Russian put his arm up to lean on the fence, well, Zahr just growled and ready to attack because he thought he was going to touch me, lets just say we quickly moved on. I only thought this the other night too, Tahli (my rotti x) just got up and was barking and growling late at night at the back door, I obviously crapped myself thinking someone was there but took the courage to have a look but nothing there. She's never gotten so worked up before and pacing around as if to scare something away. No idea, but not sure if it's a territorial thing or not. At least I know she would alarm us if anything is going on.
  18. I have no advice but good luck with Teddy hoping you get some improvements soon
  19. Would never leave my pets to fend for themselves. I remember seeing the footage from hurricane katrina and that poor guy who didn't know if his dog was alive until rescues found him and they reunited days later, it was the most wonderful thing I have ever seen, but still very lucky. I couldn't take that chance. It's like asking certain people to leave their kids behind IMO but thats why if there is a warning people should just move out and not risk anything, but then again don't know till you have been through it.
  20. What an idiot Seriously some people have got no idea
  21. I'd be defensive about it too. No one is perfect at the end of the day (most dog lovers are who treat their dogs right in my books and everyone has their own style) but some people have to show that they are better. By the way you described he worded his sentences seems rude to me. Fair enough if he was saying hello and started to talk and get to know you find out if anything wrong and then say he can give some tips then fine, but to approach you and lecture you I would have taken it the exact same way. There is a way to be nice to people but not many people follow that.
  22. If it was me, I'd be driving I just couldn't bear the thought of pup going through that plus I loooooooooooooooove long drives and how cute, give lotsa cuddles on the way back
