Yep, about time I agree, they should get the same treatment back for what they do to animals then they can rot in prison ..no need for that rubbish in this world. I watch animal cops I tell you those people have really good control of themselves I'd be the one beating them with shovels for the dog abuse

Tahli was desexed at 9 weeks, since she's a rescue. Took her home on the day and she was fine, you wouldn't think she had it done, healed up nicely, stitches taken out at 10 days. Eveyone said to me that was strange to already be desexed but being rescue's what can you do?

Baby Attacked By Family Terrier While Crawling On Floor Of Home
Adza replied to Fanuilos's topic in In The News
I agree, should never leave kids alone with dogs, I learnt my lesson too being bitten on the nose and it wasn't nice either, but you just can't trust it regardless. Poor kid though, sounds like nasty injuries. -
The puppy school you are going to sounds dreadful. I thought they were not to socialise pups like that during classes was my understanding, creating too much excitement etc? While owners and trainers sit back and watch? Maybe Nelson was scared the first time it's had a ripple effect when with other dogs that seem a threat? I don't know but I would have thought things like that would have an effect on dogs later on causing these behaviours. Then again I'm no expert at all but the "explanations" given at this puppy school don't seem right. Don't go back is my advice

My boxer Tess (passed) used to always go for the cat doo. She would be sitting there all excited when the cat was doing his business to try get to it, then I think it started becoming a competition between Tess and I who would get to it first I heard is it because they are missing certain nutrients or something? Cannot remember from where suppose thats maybe 1 theory.

how scary having to deal with snakes and the dogs being outside. I hate Sydney sometimes but glad I don't have to deal with that. I'd be panicking every time they go out which isn't good I know but wow! I plan to have a doggie door, much prefer her to walk out when she feels like it. When we are home she does that anyway, loves being outside for certain amont of time till she wants to be with us again. Just as long as there is balance it's all good.

I thought his shows were just about gardens! when did he become a specialist in dogs? What a fool How can he sit there and blame the RSPCA? why didn't he get off his botanic behind and take it further if his so concerned??

:( I love the pic sumosmum, very good My friend told me there was even a party called "Jiggy Jiggy" what the...........????????? ETA: Only going off what he said but can't find anything on it

Lucky about the graphic warning, I just can't bring myself to look at it. I'd like to know how this person got caught? Hope whoever is responsible gets very bad karma x 1000000000000

Sumosmum - I read the Vic Dog Law Research Brief, so the "attacks" they have referred to from the community, sounds like to me most of them are family pets, not strays except for 1 or so if I can recall that they elaborated on. Doesn't that say something? I am just so disgusted, that proves to me in itself these kids getting bitten at home obviously have no supervision or any common sense from their parents, or have given their family dog the necessary training. I know thats an assumption but I am sick and tired of this world making dogs and their breeds out to be the bad ones all the time. We are the ones who took away their natural way of life and domesticated them and now they have to pay for it? Soon people wont be able to take their dogs anywhere, will all have to be locked up in the yard or in some cage to satisfy the "community" because they will ALL be dangerous to them soon enough. I know, OTT, they aren't focusing on the real problem.

Glad I don't live in VIC, I'd be somewhere with a shot gun. I feel so sorry for those in VIC who have to deal with this. I cannot believe they can do this and what's the bet some other states might follow after this is that possible? I just cannot stand politics and how they have the right to all these decisions. What's worse it to not even let the public know about it?? I don't understand what brought all this on??

We take her through our driveway on/off grass and to get to the front takes about 5 minutes (alot of poking around ). We also have a common area not used at all for anything next to us which is just grass and quite a large open area which I also take her in for another 5 minutes or so. I haven't taken her outside on the actual footpaths because I am waiting on her vacc as well, and don't want to risk anything. Thanks for your advice I will be starting slowly and what feels right to me I don't want to force her into anything and she was actually quite good on the lead last night just some pulling. Regarding the fear period, I think I will watch out for things like that if I notice she is not right about something I really don't want her to develop behavioural issues later on.
-
Thank you for the warning, I'm in Revesby Heights so will keep a look out and will let you know if I see anything. Hope your sister is doing OK, unbelievable experience to go through.

Thanks everyone for your replies Nekhbet - no she has not been locked up at my house the whole time. I've had her for 2 weeks and been doing small walks just been having a hard time on the lead, some people will say nothing too long but what is long? As for the fear I only read that today from K9pro and just got even more confused? I just wanted to know what people do as I'm told different times and not too much exercise etc it just can all get confusing.
-
Dogluva - yes according to the K9 pro info, she will hit the fear stage next week, and worried I'll make everything worse, even was planning to go puppy school and that might also be the wrong time? still not sure what to do there. Kat99 - That's why I haven't done much either, because I was told the same thing about large breeds, and in another post I had issues with her front legs which seem to be fine now, but I didn't want to risk it. She does run around in our yard, but wasn't sure whether it might help to get her out in the open. Just got to work the lead part out.

Hi All, Just wondering, Tahli is hitting 4 months this Friday and get confused when/how much you should be walking your pup. Every time I come home, I do play with her but some days her energy seems to last forever, and trying to work out if it's alright in taking her for a walk twice a day in the morning and night? So, just wanting to know what age did you start walking your pup and how long would you recommend? I also can't get her to walk on the flat lead, I have tried to let her get used to it walking around the house and outside with it on but always wants to bite it and I just don't see it working yet, so if any hints on that as well much appreciated.
-
Hi Aussielover, for Mindy well done!! Let's hope no more accidents! I have to say I'm one of those who bragged about how good Tahli has been with toilet training and now it's gone downhill! More accidents than usual. Hoping it's a phase and will start to go back to how she was. Maybe I haven't noticed that I haven't been taking her out as much or something. Anyway, I am determined to fix it Still waiting to get her into puppy school can't wait to get in there so we can work on some other things like walking on the lead. Just hoping it's worth it. Been going nuts trying to find somewhere to take her.

Yes! A family beagle was so smart, would get home, he actually moved the breakfast chair all the way to the fridge to then get on the counter so he can get up high (the bread used to be left on top of the fridge) and eat the whole loaf of bread. Very bad I know but was just too smart for anyone. Who would have thought? He used to raid the kitchen until it was padlocked.

Tahli is still in biting stage, I'm sure for a long time to come. I cannot remember who but someone posted on another topic to not make any noise or "No's" or "Ouch's" while doing it as can make them more crazy or make you seem like a squeaky toy somthing along those lines. Now I just don't say anything (even though sometimes she gets a good grip and it kills) I move her away and after the first go, she loses interest and I redirect with a toy, then praise her. She isn't as bad with the hands now, but the pants are still ongoing, unless I am sitting down.
