  1. That's just the best story and the perfect photo Made my day much brighter
  2. She's OK, I'm walking her dogs while she heals I will let her know today about this post
  3. Ahh yes the hand chomping. I get that sometimes and never really knew why. She will stop if I say so but still not good.
  4. I tend to agree, if they are old stains, you cannot get rid of them. I have tried Natures Miracle, Bio Zet diluted with water and scrubbed with toothbrush, vinegar and warm water, bi carb and vinegar. It gets rid of the stain but it reappears again within a week because of tracking. So I think I pretty much have to get rid of the carpet and start again. This was from when Tahli was still toilet training and just took a bit of time with few accidents which sometimes I didn't get in time. People have also told me I can hire a carpet cleaner but are they just going to keep coming back? can't be bothered. Think I would rather replace the small area instead.
  5. Maybe the dog was too groggy to even notice or remember what happened maybe just got surprised and will be fine next time? who knows, hope he is ok. But I would probably go to another vet if I am going to worry about how they handle my dog when I'm not there, it's not worth the stress and worry but that's just me. Impressions last on me and hard to change if I saw that I would be upset about it too seeing my dog came out of surgery I would expect calmer handling. Lucky for me, my vet lets us do the weighing, put her on the table etc which is how I prefer it.
  6. How brave of you I hate seeing dog fights when the owners do nothing to stop it, especially the likes of the idiots with the SBT. I can imagine this poor family are going to go through hell if this goes further, the SBT owners should wear the costs thats an awful injury for a dog. And I hate the fact morons like that create a bad reputation for dogs. Good on you for helping a family like that, poor things.
  7. Hey never even knew about that show whats it about and what night is it on? going to record it haha Mainly working dogs, rescue dogs, studies for dogs detecting cancer, dogs working with the disabled. The next one is about dogs hearing and how it's helped save lives. It's on Saturdays 5pm channel 7 :D FFurball - when is The Haunted on? I'd like to check that out
  8. Just heard on the news a third dog has died :D
  9. Dog Whisperer, It's me or the Dog, Animal cop shows, My Dog Ate What, Dogs 101 On normal TV been watching the Eukanuba Extraordinary Dogs on channel 7, which is pretty cool. Besides that, I used to LOVE LOVE LOVE watching Bite Me, by Virologist and adventure junkie Dr. Mike Leahy..was the most interesting show ever, but hasn't been on, hope he does some new shows.
  10. Absolutely disgusting. RIP poor pups :D I think all parks should have surveillance if this keeps happening..there has been several parks in the last few months being baited and very hard to catch these people.
  11. My favourite excuse is "ohh he has small dog syndrome"
  12. Geezus how scary that is my worst nightmare but don't get any around here. Hope they make a speedy recovery guys
  13. Nothin' but a pound dog, but now with a great future A PRIVATELY owned animal pound in Sydney is to become the first in the state to promise not to put any animals down, and to find homes for every healthy pet that comes through its doors. The ambitious aim has been achieved by shelters elsewhere, said Tim Vasudeva, the manager of the Sydney Cats and Dogs Home in Carlton. The Getting to Zero initiative, started by the Queensland Animal Welfare League, means pounds make a public commitment to finding homes for all the healthy, well-adjusted dogs and cats in their care. Dangerous breeds, aggressive animals and feral cats cannot be found homes, so the best case scenario - as achieved by the league's Gold Coast shelter in Coombabah - is homes found for about 90 per cent of dogs and 75 per cent of cats. Australia has an unacceptably high rate of dogs and cats being put down, animal rescue workers say, about 250,000 each year. But in Britain, which has almost three times the human population, the number is about 25,000 a year. Mr Vasudeva said the difference was that Australia has ''puppy factories'' and backyard breeders who prosper because domestic animal legislation, which states outsource to cash-strapped councils, is weakly enforced. Last month the RSPCA called for national regulations to stamp out puppy farming. The Sydney Cats and Dogs Home, which takes in feral cats, stray dogs and surrendered pets from 11 council areas, has room for 150 animals. It is only funded by councils to keep microchipped pets for a maximum of 14 days. ''It could be the world's best cat or dog, but we have to come up with the money to look after them if it takes six to eight weeks to re-home that animal,'' said Mr Vasudeva, a former banker who works as a full-time volunteer manager at the shelter. ''We should be able to give the animals that amount of time, but we need community support to do that.'' In partnership with the Queensland Animal Welfare League, the pound plans to expand its network of foster carers who look after dogs or cats until a permanent home is found. But it needs donations and more volunteers to walk the dogs and update the website to publicise the pets. Kristina Vesk, from the Cat Protection Society, which is also participating in Getting to Zero initiative, said landlords and strata bodies can help by being pet-friendly. ''We have a lot of cats surrendered to us, very well cared for and loved, because in Sydney it can be so hard to find pet-friendly accommodation. That's really sad for the animals and the people.'' Link: http://www.smh.com.au/environment/animals/...0130-1a9q1.html\ I agree with this statement completely Kristina Vesk, from the Cat Protection Society, which is also participating in Getting to Zero initiative, said landlords and strata bodies can help by being pet-friendly. ''We have a lot of cats surrendered to us, very well cared for and loved, because in Sydney it can be so hard to find pet-friendly accommodation. That's really sad for the animals and the people.''
  14. Yep Tahli does it, not OCD or anything but she loves the hands. She does it mainly when I get home from work or after I have fed her. I don't mind it but has to stop once it goes on for too long
  15. As Winterpaws said, you just don't want the wrong person to do any harm to the dog either. There are plenty of sicko's who if given the chance can bait the dog because they are angry. You have to be careful.
  16. Are you sure? Most Bunnings have cafes now. I've always taken Justice in. There's about three Bunnings stores not far from me and none of them have cafes. Maybe they don't have the same market for them in Adelaide? Hmm don't know, my local one has a cafe? I haven't seen anyone with dogs before either, but if she happens to be with us I take her for a walk they have grass everywhere. But that's if it's to get one thing and go, not hang around, otherwise I wouldn't take her with me. I'm not a bunnings fan my OH spends hours in there
  17. I am waiting till Tahli is 2 y/o I just couldn't do it yet, she is 7 months and she's still a handful. My focus is on her training and socialisation. I couldn't do it properly with another pup around as much as I want it.
  18. Unfortunately, constant barking dogs drive people nuts. It does with me. One of our neighbours dogs used to bark up to 3 hours straight at night, owners were home and didn't do anything, which made me nuts, but that's getting better now. Like the advice here, bring dog in at nights and find out. It can get worse with the neighbours if you don't check and make sure. Good luck!
  19. The rule for me is never leave dog in the car, only winter time maybe. If we have to make a stop, I stay with the dog or vice versa and let her out. I just don't like the idea of them being in the car on humid or hot days at all. Not even when the car is parked in the shade. That's me though, if I have things to do I will leave her at home. I don't need to worry and I can take my time. I just don't see the point in dogs being taken when people go to bunnings or something. Fair enough if two of you are there and one can take the dog for a small walk or something but not being left alone.
  20. Tiny dog Peggy deemed so ferocious all postal deliveries halted to entire street She is ankle-height and looks cute - but Peggy the tiny Yorkshire terrier is deemed so ferocious by Britain's Royal Mail that it has halted postal deliveries to the entire street where she lives. Dubbed the "Beast of Dorset Gardens" after the street's name, the 15-centimetre pooch is accused of terrorising postmen and neighbours alike in the central English city of Northampton. The Royal Mail said in a letter to residents that it had halted deliveries to the street since December 7 after Peggy had attacked a postman. "Because of the dog's behaviour, he [the postman] believes your mail cannot be delivered safely and in the circumstances I have instructed him not to deliver mail to your address," the letter said. Her owners told the local newspaper that Peggy is all bark and no bite. "Peggy has barked at the postman but she wouldn't hurt anyone. She is only little," Kathleen Joyce, 49, told the Northampton Chronicle. "She has been in this family for 10 years and there is no way we are going to get rid of her." But the family's neighbours - who have been forced to make a 22 kilometre journey to pick up their mail - think differently. "It is a vicious little thing and I have seen it going for the postman," one of them told the paper, asking not to be named. The local council said it had ordered the family to rehome Peggy and warned that they could themselves lose their rented house if they fail to comply. AFP http://www.smh.com.au/world/strangebuttrue...0121-19yai.html Is that a bit over the top or what??
  21. I love how people judge the person for the type of breed they own. I don't see any breed as being owned by bogans. People like that will ruin breed reputation.
  22. 8 weeks not enough but at least someone got evidence. This guy has been jailed twice, now this is on his file he shouldn't be allowed to own an animal for the rest of his life. I really don't get that rule.
  23. - Can find information or with the support of others get great advice. What helped me the most is the better way to raise a puppy - Some training techniques on here have really solved some of the usual problems with pups - Made me want to socialise my dog a lot more often than I ever used to (dog parks not as often) we now have some of the neighbourhood meeting up every night for a play date - Being able to discuss everything dogs in general, I haven't got many dog mad people in my life so it's been very rewarding - Being able to keep up with laws, new proposals, and general news that impacts dogs & owners - Want to be more involved in activities in relation to dogs, do more, see more, meet new people There is so much more but better get back to work I love DOL
  24. Horrible. Hope they find the person responsible. It's just not on. Wonder where they found them?
