Can Anyone Recommend A Good Vet In Geelong?
brittanygirl replied to nickyp's topic in General Dog Discussion
My local vets are Bellarine Animal Hospital in Newcomb and would only be a 5 min drive for you. I have been going there for 20 years. Great vets and nursing staff. -
Alizin Bringing On Early Season? Erratic Seasons.
brittanygirl replied to capanash's topic in Breeders Community
It can definately bring on strange seasons. My girl has had abnormal seasons since being given the Alizin injection. 2 months after injection had a silent season, then 4 months later normal season. 6 weeks ago (5 months since last season) my boy was interested in her and despite showing no bleeding or swelling of vulva, I separated them anyway just in case, it was a silent season again. Too late though as she looks very pregnant now. Think there will be puppies in early May. -
Mine was shipped on the 7th, still waiting. Only 1 more day for it to arrive before christmas. All my fingers crossed.

$359, but half it was a workmate. My dogs are going to have a very good christmas. :D

I have used both pennhip and AVA a few times but only once on the same dog as i wanted to get a comparison. Her pennhip was top 90% for the breed and AVA was 3:1, so either way good scores.

I think you mean Greg (last name escapes me) Ph 0407051651 I have used him with 2 of my dogs and was very happy.

I am so sorry for what happened. RIP Odie and Jazz It happened between 2 of my dogs also. I still haven't come to terms with it and never will as I wasn't home at the time and will never know what happened. Like with yours I never saw any warning signs.

Being a B breed Boxers will be on very early, as showing is alaphabetical, so you would want to be there soon after 9.

Your Preferred Sex For Next Puppy/dog
brittanygirl replied to Baileys mum's topic in General Dog Discussion
My next dog from another breeder will be a male of another breed. Hopefully later in the year. My next dog that I breed myself to keep will be a bitch, but not for a few years yet. I prefer the temperament on males more than females, but I adore my girls also. -
I got the progesterone results back this morning. Not the result I was hoping for. Looks like the dog knew better than I did. Just have to wait and see now. Hope I have a similar result to Becks. I will have to get him PENNhip xrayed to see what his hips look like as he is too young for AVA. If they are ok I and she is in whelp, I will be having puppies in April. My vets told me that it is much more common to have the bitch cycle later than normal instead of 6 weeks after the Alizin shot. I was just lucky I guess.

Thanks for the helpful advice ;) The dog broke through a wall in the home to get to the girl last time. This time there was no evidence that she was even in season. My vets never told me that it would bring her back into season so soon. Before I used it I spoke to other breeders who had used it and had their girls cycle normally afterwards. I will get a progesterone test done to see where she is at, as she still doesnt look like she is in season to me.

I had to give my 18 month bitch the Alizin injection early January as there was a possibility that my 7 month old puppy may have mated her. He may have been with her up to 2 hours as he broke out to get to her. I thought it better to be safe than sorry. I just heard a scream in the backyard and found them tied together. It isn't even 8 weeks since she was in season. He had been interested in her in the last couple of days, but there was no bleeding or swelling that I noticed. I don't want this mating, he is too young to be hipscored yet and I have another mating planned. Has anyone here used the Alizin injection twice on the one bitch.

Looking To Purchase Grooming Scissors
brittanygirl replied to Roishana's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I love my Roseline too. I have had them 9 years now. You can get them on ebay for reasonable prices. My next pair of scissors will be Fromm, a friend has a pair and I want to steal them every time I see them. -
Alternatives To Cheques For Payment Of Entries
brittanygirl replied to jr_inoz's topic in General Dog Discussion
I send cash. I put the money in the SAE and have never had a problem. I used to do money orders, but was becoming way too expensive. -
Camping At Noorat 12, 13, 14th March
brittanygirl replied to Shazzapug's topic in General Dog Discussion
You need to pay $10 per night with your entries. Cheque to Noorat Progress Society. They don't reserve spots, but there is a lot of room and plenty of power. We go down Friday afternoon to get the same spot each year. -
Welsh Springer Spaniels/cocker Spaniels ?
brittanygirl replied to cowanbree's topic in General Dog Discussion
I have brittanys and have had labs, also know a lot of breeders of brittanys and labs. The labs are easier maintanance than the brittanys. The brittanys are more active and can be as much or more destructive. They don't shed nearly as much as a lab though, 3 brittanys shed less than 1 lab. Most brittanys are mad about birds and are great working dogs, but a lab purely as a retriever is hard to beat. Personally I would suggest a female lab for your brother. I had one here not much taller than my britts, but she was double their weight. -

I have been camping for the last 7 years. I love these shows. I would love some decent showers though. -
Catraz and Rikim are in Victoria. Aralyen is in NSW. These kennels all produce lovely sound, good temperament labs.

I spent $7000 importing from US 4 years ago. The dollar rate is better now than it was then. We weren't charged board for our boy, but that can add up to $1000 extra on depending what breeders charge.

Hi Missymoo Not the most experienced breeder here, but when Morgan was in labour first stage took up to 24 hours. Just as well I had experienced people on hand to keep me calm lol. Good luck with mum and babies.

There is nothing more heartbreaking than coming home to find one of your dogs dead and that it was one of your other dogs that did it. No warning signs, no squabbles, they even used to sleep together. I could understand if there had of been conflict between them, but they had lived in harmony for 4 years.
