  1. That's a bummer TSD, but retrieving nationals will be great too :) Is there anything in particular I should be doing in preparation, or anything particular to bring that anyone can think of that could be easily forgotten? I'm so excited and it's months away
  2. Yes I am finding the prospect of different rings running at the same time a bit daunting  That sounds awesome the trial in your home town! A shame it's further south for me otherwise I would've come  Might see you there then! I will have my Aussie (who looks just like the red tri border in your sig!) and my mad little schip :)
  3. Hi everyone! Sorry if there is already a thread on this, I did a quick search and couldn't find one, but I thought it'd be good to have a thread for those going to the Nationals in Brisbane this year to help each other out with any queries. I am so excited, I've only ever been in Cairns agility trials, so this will be huge for me! Who else is going? And for the first query...are there any accommodation recommendations? I didn't send my camping form in until January, thinking it was plenty of time, but it wasn't I have just emailed about the Ipswich showgrounds, but failing that, are there any other nearby-ish places that anyone could recommend please?
  4. My order arrived today Thank you so much Steve! I rinsed Biscuit and Cherry with the tea, it is such a pleasant smell. And they didn't mind the extra attention too  Thank you so much for the shampoo and conditioner samples, they smell absolutely delicious! I want to eat them...but it says for external use only ;) Will give it a go on Rusty tomorrow. I am so excited that I won't have to use any more chemicals that they don't need on them. Are the rinse and/or shampoos safe to use with Advantix Steve?
  5. Seeing as last year's FNQ test was cancelled, I have my fingers crossed it'll be on this year! Rusty and I are both still able to run 9km at a time, and have picked up the pace since last year. Although had a big break over these warmer months, hopefully when it cools down in April we'll get back to it! I'd really like to run it, but my only concern is the 20 minute breaks, I find it very hard to start up again after stopping. Also can you run with headphones? I imagine not, but I get very bored without them Has anyone here run it before? Would I be better just biking?
  6. Very interesting read. Have since been able to tell a few customers about my findings here, and have ordered some from you Steve to try out Biscuit sometimes gets itchy paws which has been mostly cleared through diet, however I think it'll also be great for Rusty and Cherry (in particular Rusty) as they get that "doggy smell" and I don't particularly like washing them anymore than once a month, so hoping a tea rinse will be a nice natural way to help remove some odours. Not that I mind, I'm used to it, but others don't appreciate it  Thank you all for sharing all your information and findings with this, in particular Erny and Steve
  7. Aw I love reading all these stories! Apart from the few sad ones with tragic endings, which I'm sorry you had to go through Our first family dog is our rescue Cherry, we got when she was 9 months and I was 6 or 7 from a rescue. Mum was terrified of dogs and didn't like them, but I wouldn't stop going on about having one and dad missed having dogs too. So along came Cherry She got me into the world of dogs and dog sports, and I've never looked back! But my own first dog was a Christmas present when I was 8, I called her Lassie and she was a BYB dog, your guess of breed is as good as mine! However I my true first dog is Biscuit, as he is also financially mine. I bought him when I was 16, however I had certain breed requirements to stick to from my parents when getting him, it had to be a small breed that wasn't fluffy. Then for me it had to be a show dog also capable of doing agility, and so came along Biscuit. I will be taking him with me when I move out. ETA, I meant to say, our stories sound very similar huski, including the first family dog name!
  8. Oo I love these threads! Group photos are my favourite, love seeing all the breed combinations we all have :) CaseyKay, your two have gorgeous eyes! And what a beautiful portrait huga :) Here are my current 3, who never want to all pay attention at once ETA, remarkabull the mostly brown one looks so squishy and huggable Sorry to everyone I've missed on the first page, but I promise I looked and think they're all beautiful :D
  9. Thanks for posting, great article. Shared it on Facebook
  10. What about a schipperke? Very robust healthy breed, and will take as little or add much exercise you can throw at them. A few schips have their ET titles, and visit comes jogging with Rusty and I on our 7km runs. No doggy odor which is a big bonus, and little to no brushing required. They are not known as the "little black Devils" for nothing though, and require a consistent and patient owner who will set ground rules from day one and stick to them. Most amazing bed though especially if you're into big dogs but want our need to downsize :D
  11. Schipperke? They have no doggy odor, don't pick up dirty easily, and the only time I ever brush biscuit is the twice yearly coat blow. He gets a walk to the beach every day and just loves that! He's fine by himself, has never destroyed anything. The most loyal and devoted dog, plus can't be mistaken for a girly dog!
  12. I have to agree with other posters on this page, I would like it if any of my dogs were intimidating! Jogging in the early hours of the morning Rusty looks pretty and not one bit intimidating, but I'm comforted in the fact that's he's protective when need be, and I know he's got a tough bite! And of course biscuit, as loyal and protective he is, he's not very intimidating
  13. Law that is so adorable! Cherry does that all the time too (see sig), I think we have some very cute and refined old ladies :D Wow Rozzie that is amazing, 21! He's older than me! How special to have had him for so long :) I think everyone's dogs are so special :) does anyone have any tips worth sharing on enhancing an old dogs life and keeping them feeling young... ish? :)
  14. Aw so sweet, I love when people take pictures of pup in the same spot over time to see how quick they grow and how much they change! :)
  15. Aw thank you everyone posting, I love reading about all your beautiful dogs, and of course, seeing their gorgeous faces, To the ones who oldies have passed on, big hugs to you all Like you all who are still lucky enough to have time with our oldies, I treasure every day I have with Cherry :D
  16. I just thought it'd be nice to show off photos of our oldies, and I would love to hear your stories about them. :) Cherry my first ever dog turns 13 next week, and I've never had an old dog. I find it very hard to watch her go downhill so quick. Up until a few months ago, she loved her long walks and hikes. But now she can barely go 1km, so she gets special walks...which are more likes drives to the park so she can go at her own pace, and do a few zoomies before she gets tired. She has given me so much joy in her almost 13 years...even though she is the most unloyal little girl, she is so cheeky and affectionate and knows how to make people feel special. She is the most intelligent and keen to learn little thing I've owned, and she was with me throughout my schooling life. Through the highs and lows, and putting up with my 8 year old self teaching her lots of silly tricks. My little pound puppy introduced me to the world of agility and gave me many good years of competing with her. And although your guess of her breed is as good as mine, she is the one who got me even more emersed into the dog world. She may be old but I hope we have much more great memories ahead :) She may sleep a lot now.. 17. Those are excellent tips, thank you! Oh ok, so your break isn't tooo much shorter than ours. We start up again in April...just want it to be trialing season again already!
  18. Awesome Sheena, fantastic weave entries too! At the moment I have a lot of work to do with mine! Rusty and Biscuit both need work on weave entries, contacts, and Biscuit needs a bit of work on knowing which side of me to be on! I love the wrap around the last jump in the serpentine that Cricket did too, should probably get Rusty up to scratch on that! When does your trialing season start up again? :)
  19. Edit: Sorry, slowly figuring the entry forms out...
