Does anyone know what the quarantine period is for a dog coming back to Australia after being in Greece for two years. My Dally is almost three and i would like to take her to Greece with me for a couple of years but i'm worried about the length of time she will need to be kept in quarantine when we get back. Can anyone help with this query...cheers,

i agree with the pumpkin. When ever my girl has an upset tummy i give her boiled rice mixed with pumpkin soup and it fixes her up in no time.

Dry Food Produced By Aussie Guy - Can't Remember
Prinsesse replied to booge's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Does anyone have advice on the best dry food for Dalmatians? NOT Eukanuba! I've just been reading about Flint River Ranch unfortunately its not available in Australia but it would be good to know of an alternative that is as good. Dalmatians cannot tolerate purine and it appears, anything that mentions "by product" means its high in the stuff. Any feedback would be appreciated...cheers, -
i guess you've tried putting an item of clothing in with the pup so you smell can keep her feeling secure? when my sons pup was just a few weeks old i put my PJ's in her playpen and she slept on them for hours.?

My son had this problem with his staffy and he thought she would never learn but with loads of training, love and affection she is now about 15months old and i would rather take her for a walk than my six month old dalmatian. Keep up with the training and you will see the reward. I would possibly try putting a haltie on her every time she was naughty (for a few minutes at a time) so she might realise that you don't approve of that behaviour. if she doesn't mind the haltie i would tie her up in a boring place and ignore her for a few minutes each time until she gets the idea.? good luck

My pup is awsome when i'm home but while i'm at work she gets bored and likes to dig up the back yard. (small as it is) She has loads of toys / squeeky balls kongs filled with stuff cardboard boxes to rip up. nothing seems to do the trick. Any suggestions will be valued. cheers,

She is a Dally - tried to upload a pic but didn't work!!!

i wouldn't pup my pup in a crate! I had a playpen that took up most of my room and she slept there at night. She would scratch at the sides when she wanted to do business. It was the best thing out because my room is up stairs (spiral) and i was so afraid of her falling through the bars. These can be purchased online for around $80.00. I wouldn't bother with the smaller ones (only cot size) to me, that would be the same as a crate.

You know your pet better than anyone and if you think this is out of the ordinary and it has continued - i'd be going to the vet. i didn't take my puppy to the vet for three days because i was being told i worry too much and it ended up - she had kennel cough even though she had her injections and if i'd have taken her to the vet imediately she wouldn't have got so bad and had three nights of little sleep.

It sounds like she may have kennel cough (going only on the way you've described her coughing then throwing up). Just a guess, but that seems to be how they cough when they have kennel cough - basically a doggie cold, but like people, some individuals are susceptible to secondary infections, so I'd see your vet. And kennel cough is apparently doing the rounds at the moment. Went to the Vet. Antibiotics and cough medicine but I think the anti’s are aggravating her tummy. Saliva dripping from her mouth that she has never had before. I wish i could bring her to work with me........ I was booked in to have my son's pup for two weeks but it sounds like i have to keep mine away from others for at least 10 days? does anyone have experience with timeing of this kennel cough thing? Can i take her for a slow walk or should she just stay home for the whole time? How will i know when she isn't contagious anymore?

Crashed into a chair runnign at full speed with another dog.

Yes they are like kids. She is so good and i just want her to get better so she can enjoy being a puppy. :-)

Wow! thanks everyone - for your resoponses. She actually bolted into a chair with a large person sitting on it (so the chair didn't budge) and she took the brunt of it (at 31/2 months old) it didn't stop her from charging around but the next day "the Lump" Yes it was the wrong move - having surgery as it made things worse. Yes i have been treating with heat packs and massage and it has gone down in the last two weeks and then stopped. No it doesn't hurt to touch and i've been putting a bit of pressure on it every night for about 1/2 hour during heat packs and then lightly massaging after that. She is the most gorgeous thing. cheers,

Just been reading about the puppy with chest infection. I had no idea that puppies could get colds. My pup has just started coughing and it sounds like she's an old lady with smokers cough? She threw up this afternoon and i thought it would make her better but she's still coughing. Can anyone offer any clue as to why this is happening? could she also have a cold? could something be stuck in her throat? She did have a similar cough once before and the vet said it would just go away and it did but this time it seems much worse. any thoughts would be appreciated? cheers

Does anyone know where i can get a crash hat for my Dalmatian Puppy? I know they are available in the US. I tried google "Aust supplier"but didn't get anywhere. My pup is now five months old and has a haematoma on the top of her head. the vet tried to surgically remove it but it got worse and now that the scar has healed, i want to try and get the lump to go down because she's not such a pretty prinsesse anymore with this great lump. Any assistance or even advice/experience with similar, would be appreciated.
