Well you know what waiting did last time.. I would be out there on their doorstep. What for? Glemhaith is second on the list and will be contacted if the dog can go to her. Just ease up on all the criticisms about this dog. The bossiness about who should do what in this thread has been astounding and very off putting. I am surprised Glemhaith has hung around at all! Read the whole thread again and see the stuff-ups that have gone on at the pound. That's why I'd be there. Nothing to do with the people here. Ok UpDate Bobby is on his way for his vet check. He will be released from the vets he has been paid for and will be sleeping in a home tonight . 4 out of the 6 EOI were from Skye Breeders and 1 from dear shmoo the upshot is Bobby is safe and will now have a chance at a forever loving home ....so those that helped so much.... to Shmoo and Arcane thank you for your help High five paw from Bobby. -

Yes you are absolutely right about not bothering about DOL, way too busy organising everything possible for Bobby"s release. No we do not know who is first on the list and if you can find out your a better woman than me > All I know is I am second on the list and everything is organised. Also breed/care literature has been sent to BP with Skye contact names and numbers incase number one EOI takes him. Can't do much else other than wait. -

Not that odd unfortunately donatella. I have collected 6 dogs from BP and 2 out of the 6 have had their microchips found on day of release prior to their new chips going in. Fantastic that the owners got a chance to reclaim their pets (and they both did :) ) but it's unsettling chips are being missed. So has this Skye been claimed by his Owners & if so when? He is still listed on the pound website so at this stage it appears he has not been claimed by his owners and is still sitting in the pound. I phoned BP this afternoon The owners have not come forward so nothing can be done except wait AGAIN until the 14 days are up. -
Hi Just walked in the door from Melbourne .I have viewed the pictures .I would think a Corgi cross....don't think Skye at all cheers He is a lovely boy!

cheers as I say my defences are up ... ...I am not familiar with who is who and the forum pack.I felt like I was under attack I just would like the Skye terrier people to be seen for what they are and that is a closenit community that does care about their dogs, ( and no I am not looking for Brownie points or a merit certificate),I have gained a lot of insight from this forum . I was trying to locate the breeder to produce the microchip number thinking perhaps that may have been a way to secure the dog -

Blacktown is a massive pound. Thankfully the back yard breeders have been stopped because all dogs must be desexed. I'm sure there are dog brokers are still getting around the place and when they see a purebred they see $$$ signs. That said, there are definitely decent homes out there who want to rescue a pound dog. He is very cute, he's the right age and size to appeal to many. As someone who rescues a fairly rare breed with special needs, I still think it's a good idea to ring BP and offer expert knowledge to whoever has purchased him. -

I emailed BP over a week ago with information on the Skye Terrier and their characteristics .I speak with them regularly . I do have information sheets that I email and I ask to give to any prospective new homes my details and 3 other Skye breeders from NSW & VIC detals are also on the sheets My details have been logged with BP for future reference if another Skye should come in. .Just because we don't run under a rescue banner doesn't make us idiots...........Geez as breeders that actually give a flying ratz for our kids I feel like we are condemned by some from the start.....If I sound defensive than so be it.....it is the terrier in me -

I don't think Dougal is the only one on this roundabout ! ...well I for one am hopping off ...I like 98% of Skye people will just continue to do what we have always done, and that isto try to be the best custodians we can & try to look out for our breed to the best of our abilities. This has been my first time on this forum... I have met some lovely PRO ACTIVE members and whom I hope to keep in contact with :) -

I am sorry I am not overly experienced in the workings of it all , not too many Skyes come through the system,. I am not a professional rescuer ,but I am a fast learner and I am learning a few things quite quickly. I am just someone that has had Skyes be a part of my life for a long time, that has a lot of friends the same and we all try to look out for the breed we love -

I put in my EOI at about 7 in the evening ,I was speaking with a staff member @ the pound @4 that afternoon he said that no EOI had been put on Dougal I had to wait until I finished work.I then checked with the pound first thing the next morning to get confirmation they had received my EOI..... " yes " but was told I was not first in line, !!!! I then compiled a generic letter outlining the characteristics of Skye Terriers included literature exerts and references to the literature so that it was perceived to be not my words ( Did happen to sneak in that we had 30+ years of Skyes in our lives).Sent it through, checked to see if they received it .....was told they do not accept letters ,pleaded my case asked for her to read the first 2 paragraphs," I see she said we will put it with his file" I feel very dejected Surely common sense will prevail ? I 'm not very religious but will be saying a few prayers ...will check with Blacktown P in the morning .... I was quoted the full adoption fee. Thank you Shmoo pleased that you are on the list -

:) He was actually really playful when he came out of the kennel, but he quickly quietened down and had this sad face. He wasn't interested in me through the wire of his pen and only got up and said hello after joining in on a barking choir. http://www.dolforums.com.au/public/style_emoticons/default/smile.gifhttp://www.dolforums.com.au/public/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif -

I am a registered breeder .Skyes have been a part of my life for 18 years,my partner has had Skyes for 35 years. When I say I am a registered breeder I have bred one litter in that time 5 years ago ,I may breed another litter in the next year or two. If this is a n ex registered breeder and people have the knowledge that this is happening I find this ( the act of this person abominable....also if there is someone that openly knows of this activity then I can safely say that ANY of the 11 registered breeders on dogsonline would love to know.....after all we all have the same end interests at heart. This type of behaviour is not accepted by Skye people. We are only custodians of this truly amazing breed, We really do keep track of dogs as best we can ,having so few bred each year it is quite easy to keep track of, We have a wonderful Worldwide Skye terrier data base monitored from every country operateed from Finland. Being the rarer breed that they are they do not ,nor should not fly under the radar ,If any persons knows of any skye in any shelter pound institution etc please contact any Skye breeder, also a National rescue number will be added to dogsonline page with in the next coming days. Also if any person or persons knows of crossbreeding and neglect of any Skye. Could the person that knows of this please elaborate on this statement, How long has this been going on ? What area? If this is an ex breeder this will not take long to attend to, as we, like our dogs are a very small gene pool and are quite easily identifiable. I have been in contact with Blacktown pound,I will be speaking to them again tomorrow. -

According to my reading of the ANKC document as it appears on their website the numbers for Skyes born in 2011 were a grand total of 8 ,2010 saw 21 Skyes born, 2003 (12), 2005 -(5), 2001-(1), 2002 (14). etc 2010 -(21) -

This young boy has just come to my attention .I have received an email from another Skye person tonight informing me of this poor boys circumstances so it is safe to say that the Skye people are now aware ,action will be taking place. -
I have a coated breed and it appears that there may be a fungal infection present on the paws. Can you safely use human anti fungal powder? The main components are Salicylic acid4% and Butyl hydroxybenzoate 1% I have read several canine health books that say human athletes foot powder is safe ,but would like to be certain thanks
