I can't access the breeders section so will ask here. What is the time frame of use for chilled semen? I'm looking at having some sent from Brisbane early next year but am concerned with the lifespan.

Just like people dogs have their own scent. Every dog I've ever groomed has a scent (not necessarily stinky, just a personal odour) and for the most part I actually like the way dogs smell, its comforting to me. My own dogs have their own scent. The small fluffy doesn't have much of one but he does like to roll in yucky, dead things so he makes up for it. My female Bulldog has the strongest 'natural' odour but it's still not bad, just her. She gets washed once or twice a week (they all do as they live and sleep inside) and within 2 days her smell is back to normal. They all get fed a natural, raw, preservative free diet.

My breed is not recognised by ANKC but we still health test and in fact our rules are stricter than those of breeders of ANKC breeds. We have a registry and the dogs have papers etc. I'd contact one of the American Bulldog registries and check with them. I know with my breed (Australasian Bosdog aka Aussie Bulldog) we have to have our dogs hip and elbow scored and they have to have results below a certain number to be allowed to breed.

The 2 Bulldogs are into body slams, bitey face and zoomies. Lots of grunting and snuffling too. I have to explain to others who haven't had much to do with bulldogs that they are not fighting but having a wonderful play together. The 2 little dogs like bitey face and they love to chase the big dogs but they don't enjoy a lot of contact.

When I had Dobes my parents were always telling me that they were too skinny. I've had vets express surprise and pleasure at my small dogs as they are both lean and have an obvious waist. I now have Bulldogs and people often tell me how 'small' Simi is. I'll admit that when compared to the other dogs of her breed she is on the petite side but she is also lean which is very uncommon for her breed. Ivy seen plenty of pics of overweight Bulldogs as most people seem to think that that's just what they look like. It makes me sad and I worry about their hips etc. I've tried to add a pic of Simi but stupid iPad won't let me. I'll try later :)

Reporting Dogs To The Authorities
Remarkabull replied to Agility Dogs's topic in General Dog Discussion
I thought that I might get reported once at a leash free park. I don't usually use them but we were at BMX for my daughter and had one of the Bulldogs with us and I thought she'd enjoy a run and swim so in we went. I ran into my neighbours who have a large Bull breed cross pup and was chatting to them while our dogs were sniffing around (within 2 metres of us) and a couple entered with a Pom who ran full pelt at us as soon as she was let off lead. Without pause or hesitation this little dog leapt and grabbed my dog on the face and I was immediately reaching down to grab her when my dog pushed it into the ground with a lot of noise (those that have bulldogs know what I mean) and then released her immediately. The Pom had no marks on her but had been taught a good lesson however the owners were looking at me like I had a savage beast. They chased her around for a few minutes trying to catch her and once they did they left. Everyone who witnessed commented that the Pom was a little shit and was lucky that Simi isn't aggressive but only told it off, which is true but I didn't think its owners quite saw it that way. -
The other important point here is that not all x crossed y have the same coat type by any stretch of the imagination, you can get very different coats even in one litter when you cross breed. You get a range of outcomes that can be quite different in terms of care. Temperament and size too for that matter. A first cross can be highly variable. This. I have a Shih Tzu X (not sure what, was told Maltese but he is same colour and markings as a Schnauzer) and his coat is silky, fine and soft. He doesn't matt easily and although I keep him shaved most of the time as I'm not a fan of long haired breeds his tail is always long and I brush it only when he gets groomed (once every 5-6 weeks). I groom from home part time and there is a huge variety in the type of coat these mixes have. My favourite breed to groom is the Poodle, they have the best coat for clipping and always look great when done. Its hard to stuff up a poodle clip :)

The dogs seen in the pics look in ok physical condition but the living conditions are atrocious! I can imagine the smell coming from that yard must be horrific. Poor doggies

Is Bullmastiff The Next Pitbull?
Remarkabull replied to mixeduppup's topic in General Dog Discussion
I love Bull Terriers and I use to own 2. I was walking my female at a local market one day when a lady grabbed her daughter by the arm and yanked her up into the air and loudly yelled 'stay away from the Pitbull'. I looked around before realising she meant my dog, who looks nothing like a Pitbull. Some people are fools. I get 2 common reactions with my Bulldogs, people either smile and fawn all over them(which they love) or they give them a wide berth and watch them warily. If there were ever 2 dogs that were less likely to bite anyone I've yet to meet them and it makes me sad that people judge them based on their looks. -
I grew up with Dobes and I thought I would always have them but my husband wanted a Bulldog so we got one and she stole my heart. We now have 2 (mother and son) and I adore them more than words can describe. They are just about perfect and by far the easiest dogs I've ever owned. They have amazing temperaments and are adorable too :) I admire a number of other breeds but they are probably not suited to our lifestyle so will never own one but once we are older we will probably switch to Frenchies simply because they are smaller.

We live in NT and I had one of my dogs done a few years ago with no side effects, however none of my current dogs get anything more than a C3. I am aware if the risks but my dogs sleep inside and we don't have trees that attract bats and we keep the yard clear. For me the chance of them contracting Lepto is not great enough to warrant pumping more drugs into them.

Is Bullmastiff The Next Pitbull?
Remarkabull replied to mixeduppup's topic in General Dog Discussion
It's not just the media though, it's also the owners and or the witnesses that are identifying theses dogs as such and such breed. I see dogs all the time in rescue, on Gumtree and FB pages that are being advertised as a particular breed or cross and they look nothing like it. People seem determined to label their dogs instead of just saying they have a small, medium or large cross breed. -
Do You Like It When Strangers Interact With Your Dogs?
Remarkabull replied to Blackdogs's topic in General Dog Discussion
My guys get a lot of attention when out and about and I'm very happy to let people pat them and have a chat. They are great ambassadors for the breed and the more people that see that the better. I don't like it if people don't ask or kids just rush right up but my dogs have solid temperaments and don't mind the attention. Actually, as soon as they see a child they immediately get 'wriggle butt disease' :) -
This. I take any pups I get to puppy school to expose them to new and different things. I tell my puppy buyers that if they attend a puppy school to take on board the things they feel will work for them but by no means do they have to follow the advice given and that they should always do their own research too.

Maybe the vet said they couldn't, or suggested they don't ... if the vet's intention was to not euthenise the dog they probably had some sort of reason they could not stay with it. Ive held many dogs while being PTS as the owners could not bring themselves to be there. Sometimes because they were cowards but there were a few that very obviously adored their pets but just couldn't bring themselves to be there to see them pass. My own father loved our dogs so very much but could never be there for that. It was always mum and I who took them and me who held them while it was done as mum would break down. Even from the age of 9 I could hold it together until they were gone

Strangers Dog Went For My Face This Morning
Remarkabull replied to jess5's topic in General Dog Discussion
Good advice. Years ago I was walking my Bull Terrier and was approached by a woman who asked if she could pat him. I said yes and she proceeded to drop to her knees cooing in a baby voice and cupped his face and kissed him on his nose. Just as I opened my mouth to tell her not to do that he freaked out and snapped at her. Lucky he only pinched her skin and didn't do any further damage. Honestly, who does that? As soon as she dropped down I could see he was uncomfortable and that's when I tried to tell her to back off but she was so quick and I didn't have time to get the words out. He was normally friendly dog who enjoyed a pat from anyone but this was obviously too much for him, and fair enough too. -
Advice On British Bulldog
Remarkabull replied to winstonbull's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
My Bulldogs are fed a preservative free diet and no dry food at all. I have found that this has been the best thing for any skin related issues. They don't have major issues but would occasionally have a 'breakout' and I happened to notice that it seemed to occur while they were eating dry food. They don't really like dry anyway and will only eat a couple of mouthfuls before walking away from it. -
My JRT is an avid hunter. We live in suburbia so it's limited to mostly bugs and beetles (you only have to say those words an she goes mental) and the occasional lizard, mouse, rat or bird. Thankfully she has no interest in frogs or toads and she has never bothered any pet rabbits or small animals we have had. We have a pet snake and when he is out we sometimes show the dogs and all of them back away and are very wary of him.

Vets All Natural - Perfect Puppy Nutrition
Remarkabull replied to Dr Bruce Syme's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I have bulldogs and they get red meat with no issues. I find that if anything causes sensitivity or upsets its preservatives so they are now fed a preservative free diet and no dry at all, only wet food :) -
Lol, my husband and I spend a lot of time laughing at the faces they pull and the noises they make. They just make everyone who sees them smile. I am a complete convert to the breed and can't imagine having anything else from now on.

And another. This is Arnold and Simi (his mum) its a couple of months ago but one of my faves.

My FB page is a homage to him and his mother! More pics as requested :)

I just had to share this pic I just took of my pup. He had a big day today as his brother came to visit while his human mum was at work and they played for hours so he has spent the afternoon asleep on the lounge, snoring his head off.

Vets All Natural - Perfect Puppy Nutrition
Remarkabull replied to Dr Bruce Syme's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Pretty sure that is the daily intake, just split it into however many meals a day your pup gets. I have a 5 month old bull breed and he get 2 meals a day, 1 of VAN (approx half a kg, maybe a bit less) and 1 of so etching else. He will be approx 30-35kg when fully grown. -
What Do You Do With Your Dogs When You Go Out?
Remarkabull replied to a topic in General Dog Discussion
I have never heard anyone say dogs/pups shouldn't be outside because its over stimulating! Strange. Mine usually sleep, sniff, p,ay and watch the world go by :) I find that my dogs are relaxed and happy after a day outside but if they spend the day cooped up inside they are full of beans and need to burn off some energy. They are also more likely to be destructive if inside all day.
