  1. My husband had this made for my Birthday (last month but it was only finished recently). It's a pic and foot castings of my 2 Bulldogs Simi and Arnold. I love it so much!
  2. I've gone from Dobes to Bulldogs so that's a pretty big change. I still think that a nice Dobe is one of the most stunning animals ever but I've really come to love the look of the Bulldog. I definitely don't think all dogs are nice looking but I can appreciate a nice looking dog (of any breed) if that makes sense? I don't mind so much about what size a dog is, I like breeds from tiny to huge! I've been thinking a lot lately about wanting an Irish Wolfhound, not that I think OH would allow it any time soon :)
  3. Agree with this. There is way more to it than a dog biting simply because it is entire.
  4. Are the scabs on his skin, as in wounds or is the scabby type stuff through his coat? I've had dogs arrive for grooming who look great (owners obviously brush between grooms etc) but once I start clipping or blow drying I can see that there is a skin issue happening. When blow drying it loosens all the scabs/dead skin and it can get trapped in the coat.
  5. My Bulldogs are medium size to me, even though my male pup is very solid and so many people think they are both 'big'. For me to think a dog is large it has to be pretty big :)
  6. From the reading I've done one reason is because of the oils they produce, which in a normal cat would be absorbed by the hair. If not washed they can get all greasy and leave greasy, brown marks on furniture etc. they also have to have their ears cleaned regularly too and I've been told not to feed them fish based products. It's quite fascinating and I'm really looking forward to getting my nudie :)
  7. All cats I've owned until now have never needed to have a bath. Only time they were ever washed was if they had grease or something really gross on them.I am about to get a Sphynx so he will need bathing periodically but I assume that he will be quite used to it as the breeder will have been bathing the whole litter prior to them going to new homes.
  8. I'll post pics when they get a pup :) It will be one very loved and spoilt pup.
  9. Thanks Mita, I know nothing about this breed so wouldn't know where to start!
  10. I'm looking for recommendations for a good Tibbie breeder for work mates. They are a lovely couple, in their 40's and are huge animal lovers. He has previously owned Bull Terriers and although he still loves them dearly he has been diagnosed with Parkinson's and would prefer a smaller, easier to manage dog and she has owned many different breeds and crosses but has fond memories of a friends Tibbie that she would care for on occasion. Male friend approached me today and asked if I could get some recommendations as he wants to get her a pup in the next few months if possible. They want a pup, not an adult and as far as I know they don't mind if male or female, just that it comes from a good breeder with nice dogs.
  11. My Bulldogs scratch after using it too. I generally stick with Fidos shampoos and have never had a dog have a bad reaction to any of it (I'm a groomer). I'll use Malaseb, but only in severe cases.
  12. I was just looking on Gumtree and saw a wanted ad that went ' I look for a Wolf hand pupy if anyone has one let me know. I want girl please'
  13. There was a great one on a notice board here once. 'Sharp A x Pitball' Apparently they were going to be 'oresome' dogs like their parents and were going for the bargain price of $600 each!
  14. I don't understand how a relatively smart, educated person can believe all the crap spouted about these oodles? I don't think the dog is at all cute either.
  15. So shouldn't have looked at that, now I'm crying! Great photos though :)
  16. I wrote everyone's details in a diary, including which pup was theirs and what they wanted to call it. Hubby kept telling me to put it on my iPad but I prefer the old fashioned way :)
  17. I answered the poll using my bulldogs. They have never bitten anyone or anything. Simi (adult female) has growled and pushed a rude Pom into the ground, however said dog had raced across a park and launched itself at her face so I'd say her response was very restrained! My JRT will bare her teeth and snap at us but that's because my husband has played rough with her and encouraged that response but she is a softy and loves all people. Both of the small dogs would have a snap at another dog if they felt threatened and the JRT has killed many rats, mice and lizards.
  18. I love Bassets but I don't think I've ever seen a puppy one! I can only imagine how cute they must be :)
  19. Rarely. There is a great dog park about a 5 minute drive away, it has a lake and agility equipment but I'm not keen on leash free parks so we don't go often even though my dogs are friendly and have pretty good recall. They do zoomies in our yard and spend a lot of time playing and wrestling with each other and they get an on leash walk around 4 times a week. They are Bulldogs though, so don't require heaps of exercise and prefer to lay on the lounge or bed in the air con :)
  20. I have a Challenger and it has tonnes of room in the back and you can fold the seats down to give you even more if you need.
  21. My pup came good after 2 antibiotic tablets but he didn't have diarrhoea and wasn't dehydrated and no blood either, so they are still thinking a mild case of gastro or similar. Plus my pup was refusing food and was only vomiting occasionally. This pup has been eating and drinking but can't keep anything down and has apparently had diarrhoea and vomiting for 3+ days. She said that while he was at her parents house last week he chewed a plastic bowl so could possibly have ingested part of that. She's going to call vet soon and let me know how he is this morning and what the plan is for treatment.
  22. I have 4 and 3 are in my room. 2 on my bed, 1 in a crate in our room and 1 either on the lounge or with my eldest daughter.
  23. Vet thinks parvo is very unlikely. Its horrible not being able to help. She was really upset as pup was freaking out when she left him there. They're very close as he is her only pet and she is single so it's just him and her most of the time. Poor girl is staying with her parents tonight so she's not alone.
  24. So last week I posted about my 6 month old pup being quite sick (didn't eat for almost 3 days, vomiting, lethargic) and thankfully he is completely back to normal now and didn't need to stay at vets or have any major treatment. Today I received a phone call from a young lady who purchased one of my pups to let me know he was at the vet in a bad way. Apparently he has been vomiting for days and has also had diarrhoea for a day or 2 but was still happy, playful, eating and drinking. This afternoon she arrived home to find her house full of diarrhoea and vomit containing blood and a very sad pup. He is currently on a drip and receiving antibiotics. Vet said depending on how he is in the morning they may do x-rays as he suspects pup may have eaten something he shouldn't have. I wish she had told me earlier that he was unwell as I would have said to see vet earlier. I really don't know what to do, I feel so helpless and sad for her. He may no longer be mine but I still love him and feel sick with worry. She is going to keep me advised on how he is doing in the morning. Fingers (and everything else crossed that he has improved.)
