  1. I agree that its unlikely the am staff could have gotten its head through that gap. Such a sad situation and I feel for the poor little poodle
  2. Hubby got ice cream from shops and she loved her little bit. It's pretty warm up here but its going into the dry so temp is not too bad. We normally have the A/C going at night to help get a good nights sleep but I don't want the pups to get cold. I have our windows open and ceiling fans going.
  3. She seems to be a bit better but ill send hubby up to shops soon to get some. Thanks :)
  4. She seems to be a bit better but ill send hubby up to shops soon to get some. Thanks :)
  5. Thanks, if she isn't back to normal tomorrow ill go and get some.
  6. Ill have to get my OH to help with pics as I'm on iPad and don't know how to do it unless on computer. Everyone is doing well, although mum is still panting heavily. I got a vet to check her out and here are no more puppies in there and her temp is normal but she does have a higher than normal heart rate ATM but vet said not to worry at this stage and just keep an eye on her.
  7. Make that 11 pups total, 9 live :)
  8. For those that have answered some of my questions recently about pregnant bitches I just wanted to let you know that Simi had pups last night. She had 9 total, 2 were stillborn. She is doing really well and so are remaining 7 pups. She was around 5 days early but all pups are healthy and suckling well and range from 250-450 grams. Thanks for all your help :)
  9. My breed is not recognised by ANKC if that's what you need to know. They do have their own registry and issue pedigrees though.
  10. I recently had one of my dogs hip/elbow scored and both the vet and Lavelles required a copy of her pedigree. I'd ask your vet or call Lavelles or one of the other specialists and check with them.
  11. Acheron would have to be PTS. He is DA and has fear based issues that I wouldn't e pect others to deal with, he is also incredibly attached to me and I don't think he'd cope we'll. I'd want my small fluffy to go to my parents if possible or my eldest daughter. The JRT would adjust to being rehomed as long as she got kissed and cuddled and I'd hope my sister would take my Bulldog, although she could be rehomed too.
  12. I used my Dobe to donate blood for a clients dog at the clinic I worked at and I remember the vet being surprised by how fatty his blood was. He was not overweight at all and was very healthy and in his prime (abound 5 or 6 at the time) Vet was not concerned about it and didn't suggest I look into anything unless here were other symptoms or problems, which there weren't. He was PTS at the age of 9 due to Lymphoma, not sure if there was a connection between the 2, I never thought to ask if there could have been.
  13. What stage do you recommend having a X-ray on a pregnant bitch done? Simi is 6 and a half weeks and is enormous! I truly can't imagine she could stretch much more. We did an ultrasound at 5 weeks and could see 5 pups but since then she has ballooned. We weighed her this morning and she has gained almost 8kg! This is her first litter and I would like to know how many are in there so when she whelps I can be fairly sure of when its over. I'm actually a bit worried about her and just want to make sure everything is ok :)
  14. You could try another groomer. Some are better than others and it should be able to be done done without sedation. It sounds like she needs to have the area completely clipped back.
  15. We occasionally share with ours. They love just about anything but favourites would be chips, ice cream and my bulldog loves coke, cordial and juice. She doesn't get much but is allowed a little taste every now and then :)
  16. Years ago I did flyball with my old Dobe. He was fantastic at it and speed wise he was not that far behind the fastest of the BC's. we competed at the Sydney Royal and also did demos at the Pet Expo etc. he was the biggest dog in our club but certainly not the biggest dog we saw competing. A Kelpie is a great size and would be great at flyball :)
  17. Thanks all. I didn't think it was anything to worry about but wanted to check. It appears to only happen first thing in the morning and she is fine in all others aspects, except for getting huge and not wanting to do anything but eat and sleep :)
  18. Another one for the breeders. My bitch is 5 and a half weeks pregnant and I noticed this morning when I let her out to the toilet that there was a clearish, mucus like discharge. It came out with her urine and she obviously knew it was there as she quickly sat and dragged herself on the ground to get rid of it. I'm assuming its normal, but I haven't been around a pregnant bitch in years and I can't remember if this happened when I was caring for my ex's pregnant BT. So, should I be concerned or not?
  19. My small dogs (6kgs or less) get half a frame for a meal, the bulldog gets 1 and a half (she is 20kg) and the Dobe gets 2 and a half (he's approx 38kgs). I leave the fat on and all my dogs are healthy and lean.
  20. My children come first and my husband is next, but very closely followed by my dogs (closer than he would like most of the time!) I also prefer the company of my dogs to most people, sometimes including my own family :)
  21. When I was in Vic I remember seeing an advertisement in the local butchers for pups. They were all black as we're the parents and it turned out that they were the butchers dogs and he was advertising them for sale to hunting homes. He used them to hunt foxes and from pictures and what he said they are very good at it and love their job. Georgeous little dogs too :)
  22. At least once a week we get a dog left in the car in our car park at work. Usually someone will let us know and we get on the PA and request the owner to return to their car as their dogs in distress. Even on a mild day here its bloody hot in a car and I would never leave any of mine in the car alone.
  23. At this stage I suspect she might be pregnant but I would like to know for sure so I can arrange time off work etc. Simi is not a Dobe, so it would be an almighty shock if she had more than 8-10 puppies! I'd be surprised if she even had that many although as I said it is not unheard of. I've not mentioned breed as I don't want to break forum rules and get kicked off as I enjoy reading and learning from others on here. Simi is an Australian Bulldog (aka Australasian Bosdog). She is registered with the ABA and has been hip and elbow scored prior to breeding. I believe that the breed will be recognised in the future and I have completely fallen in love with them and want to do the right thing by the breed. If this is in breach of forum rules then I'm happy to have this thread deleted and I'll not mention her breed again (until they are recognised). Thanks for all the responses :)
  24. I'm hoping for 4-6 puppies but it has been known in my breed for bitches to have 10! (Although that's not the usual) I don't want too many, especially our first. I have had to hand raise 8 puppies previously (ex husband bred his BT and then asked me to look after her in last week of pregnancy). A c-section at 1am on a Sunday morning and a bitch with no milk and not much in the way of maternal instincts was a real eye opener. just in case there are any problems a smaller litter will be easier to care for, for both Simi and I!
  25. Thanks, I was all set to do it until this lady suggested not to (and she made it sound like I'd be doing something silly if I did) and just thought I'd see what others think. I would also like to be prepared well in advance and have everything as ready as possible for puppy arrival.
