You said you repeatedly have your dog off lead. Unless you are in a off lead park or designated area then you are breaking the law. Why do you think its ok for you to do that? If you do it then you obviously don't think the rules apply to you for some reason, hence my asking why? What about you and your dog is special that the laws don't apply to you?
-
But what makes you so special that the rules shouldn't apply to you? Why are you and your dog different from everyone else? I no longer have a reactive dog but I still don't want strange dogs approaching me or my dogs while out walking. When I had a reactive, DA dog it was a nightmare! I was always getting in between him and other dogs that were 'friendly' but off lead and wandering up to 50 metres or more from their owner.

What kind of person does this? He is a huge danger to society and will probably get off lightly due to 'having a tough childhood' like so many of the degenerate losers seem to these days

Illegal Dog Fighting Rumours Believed To Be A Hoax
Remarkabull replied to Plan B's topic in In The News
A few weeks ago one of my neighbours came over to let me know that she had seen a guy in my front yard shining a torch into my back yard at around 3-4 in the morning. She suggested they were after my dogs and I tend to agree with her. I have a breed that I worry about them getting stolen, not for fighting (although they are a bull breed they would be useless in a real dog fight) but for backyard breeding or reselling. I assured my neighbour that my dogs sleep inside and I'd put up a hell of a fight if someone tried to steal them but if it was the contents of the shed they were after then they could go for it :) I think that the majority of dogs that do get stolen are destined for backyard breeding more so than dog fighting. -
Someone Is Trying To Rehome A Malinois
Remarkabull replied to Remarkabull's topic in General Dog Discussion
They're the new tough fashion dog. Rare breed, google the photos and all you get is Sch/KNPV/LE, phwaar let's get us a tough dog to guard the place. Enough BYBers out there too breeding bad temperament dogs. There's a couple of old stud dogs that really screwed a lot of Malinois, there are lines I would not touch with a 10 foot pole. Dog gets out of control quickly, bites the owner, bingo bango, young dogs free or dumped because few people know how to train or manage them. I have no doubt there are plenty of people contacting her to take the dog and it scares the shit out of me! I'd much prefer an experienced rescue to take it and find a good home but its not up to me and she hasn't contacted the breeder I'd take it myself and then pass it on to one of the above mentioned rescues but I worry that it would get out of my yard plus I don't have anywhere to keep it separated from my dogs while I'm at work. All I can do right now is hope that whoever takes it can provide a good home. -
Someone Is Trying To Rehome A Malinois

I'd be happy to get him out of the pound and to take him to airport but there has been a lot of interest in him apparently and I think she may have found a home for him. I really hope they can give him what he needs. Ill keep checking and if anything changes ill let you know. -
Someone Is Trying To Rehome A Malinois
Remarkabull replied to Remarkabull's topic in General Dog Discussion
I suggested that but don't think they have/will. All they said was the breeder was a guy from WA who bred them for the police force and they purchased him as a pup almost 3 years ago. -

Someone Is Trying To Rehome A Malinois
Remarkabull replied to Remarkabull's topic in General Dog Discussion
It's male and was purchased from a breeder in WA 3 yrs ago. Apparently they offered it to the Police last year and they took it on a trial but gave it back after a couple of weeks as it was not suitable. She is saying it was because it wasn't 'viscous' enough to be a police 'attack dog'! I'm trying to get more info without upsetting her in case I can find someone to help. ETA - he is desexed, microchipped and vaccinated. A local rescue group has offered to take him and foster him while looking for a new home but I doubt any of the foster carers have the kind of experience or knowledge to really be able to find the best home for him. It is a small group that relies on strangers to open their homes to take in animals. I once offered to take on a pregnant cat and she had been delivered to my house the same day with no checks and little conversation. Kittens were born 2 days later and there was minimal contact from the group until my husband cracked it and said they had to go (kittens were almost 8 weeks ld by this stage) -
I know this is in the wrong section but I want as many to see as possible so someone with breed experience might be able to help. There is a lady on FB trying to sell her Malinois (due to it annoying the neighbours because it doesn't get any exercise or attention) and its currently in the pound. They don't have the money to get it out yet but say they will soon and want to sell it. If anyone is able to assist or has any contacts up here that could help please let me know and I can pass on details. I really don't want this dog going to the wrong home and they are making light of exactly how much work this breed can be

Vets All Natural - Perfect Puppy Nutrition
Remarkabull replied to Dr Bruce Syme's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Because I have bulldogs and they are not great at eating bones (the tend to swallow without chewing) I swap out a meal of VAN with a large chunk of meat that has to be chewed up before its eaten. Usually a nice big heart (cow or buffalo as they are quite big) and that seems to keep them happy for 10 minutes chewing and they all have lovely white teeth :) -
A Follow On Thread For Those Who Now Have Their Puppy
Remarkabull replied to julesluvscavs's topic in Puppy Chat
Arnold sleeps until I make him get up most days. He sleeps in my bed (so do our other dogs, including his mother) and they would all stay in bed most of the day if I'd let them :) We go to be anywhere from 9:30-11pm and he sleeps right through! -
Same here :) I have no problems keeping my dogs in good condition. They still get the occasional treat or leftovers but it all balances out and they have never been overweight, in fact once we got Simi (bulldog) I found it harder to get weight on her as I'm used to Dobes and their streamlined look so I was keeping her a bit too lean for her breed and had to increase her food.

3rd Puppy Vac - Yes Or No?
Remarkabull replied to Remarkabull's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Pup was bred by me, mother had all her puppy vac and a booster. C3 only. I only started thinking about whether to get third or not because one of my puppy buyers asked if I was as they were thinking of not getting the third for their pup and wanted my opinion. As I have made it known to all puppy buyers what my protocol is with vaccinating my own dogs (puppy shots, booster and that's it and only ever C3) and this family have done some of their own research into it and wanted to know what I was doing. There is parvo up here but I haven't heard of it being particularly bad in this area. Pup is well socialised and does come into contact with other dogs (litter mates having a play date and sometimes other adult dogs from same families, all vaccinated). Thanks for replies, lots to think about and research :) -
3rd Puppy Vac - Yes Or No?

Thanks guys. I will err on the side of caution and have the 3rd vac done. Better to be safe than sorry I suppose :) -
3rd Puppy Vac - Yes Or No?
Remarkabull replied to Remarkabull's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Brand is Protec. Vet I go to recommends a third but I have not discussed this with him, its just what they do. Both vaccinations he has received have been C3 only as that's all I give all my dogs. -
What are people's thoughts on having the 3rd puppy vac done? I usually have my dogs vaccinated as pups and then a booster at around 15 months (C3 only) and then don't vaccinate again. Arnold had his second vac at 11 weeks (first at 7 weeks) and I'm thinking does he really need the third? I'd prefer not to as i hate putting all this crap into him if not needed but then again if he needs it I'm happy to get it done. Just after some thoughts and opinions please :)

You're focussing on BSL law. There are plenty of laws relating to responsible dog ownership that have nothing to do with breed and those that break them rarely get any kind of punishment. What makes you think that these people will obey new ones?
-
I suppose these new laws will be enforced, unlike the current laws? Laws won't change anything until people obey them and that won't happen until they're regularly enforced.
-
That's not even close to what was said. Stop trying to make something of nothing. You'll find that most, if not all on DOL do NOT agree with BSL.

A Follow On Thread For Those Who Now Have Their Puppy
Remarkabull replied to julesluvscavs's topic in Puppy Chat
Lovely!! lol, i'm pretty sure my other half would kill me if I let the dog on the bed. haha. My husband is Army and is currently away (again) so although Simi and Barkley sleep with us he did request that Arnold sleep in a crate but I'm lonely and he is such a good boy that its easier for me to have him in bed with the rest of us :) -

I keep looking at everyone posting pics of their new babies and I've decided to join in :) This is Arnold, possibly the cutest puppy ever (I'm not biased, everyone says so). He is 11 weeks old and such a funny boy.
