I'm near Orange. We had snow on the last Sunday in November in 2008, and I've been told it has snowed here on Christmas one year, but I've only been here since 2007. This is the most snow we've had since 2008- one day last year I think and 1 this year in August, but it didn't settle. Ruby did have fun catching snowballs and doing zoomies. She's still asleep. Just looked out the window- still snow on the ground, but I can see more grass now. Still a few snowflakes falling though. -

It's snowing at my house. Started snowing some time after I went to bed (so after 12:30), and is still snowing now. When I got up this morning at 7am, there wasn't a lot of snow on the ground, but took Roo out for a play anyway. Brought her back in around 8 for breakfast and went back to bed. Got up again at 9 and it had snowed a lot more and was deeper. You couldn't see the grass! Roo had a great time catching snowballs in her mouth and doing zoomies around the backyard. We spent almost an hour out there I think. Then she came in and after awhile the cat and her were riling each other up and I was getting annoyed, so Roo is now in her crate asleep (hopefully) and the cat is asleep somewhere. I'll post some pics in awhile. Not many though because my camera has hissy fits when it's cold and shuts down. Gah. KTB, are you still having your party? You're welcome to my soft crate by the way. It's still in the box- haven't even taken off the packing strips. -

Hee hee you girlies are funny And you've been so chatty again today. So much to catch up on. Hope Max and Mars are lounging comfortably and not feeling too sorry for themselves. Roo is better today, but I've stuck to mashed pumpkin and chicken for now. Maybe tomorrow morning I'll give her a little more pumpkin with biscuits, then go to just biscuits and mince tomorrow night. Decisions, decisions. Dreadful weather here today. When I left for school, Roo was still sitting in the rain, the silly doglet. I'm about to put her outside bedding in the dryer. I don't think we got as much rain as they thought, but with the wind it was blowing sideways, and got under the back garage door and there was water on the floor and some boxes got wet (nothing that important, just old school stuff), and the same thing in the laundry, but again no big deal as I have layers of newspaper on the floor under the cat's litter boxes (yes boxes plural. 1 cat, 3 boxes *eyeroll*). We're supposed to get worse weather through the night and tomorrow it's supposed to snow :p I'd really like to keep Roo inside for a lazy day, but she hasn't worked out that her Very Expensive Dogbed is for lounging in- any suggestions? Max- how did your job interview go? Re crates- I've had 2. The first one was from eBay and it wasn't til I unpacked it (the day I got Roo) that I realised it was not going to practical at all since it had a wire bottom. I made do with cardboard over the top and bought a much sturdier one about a month ago. It's heavier though too. I scoot it between the loungeroom and my bedroom on cardboard, which to be honest is ridiculous, but it's what I do. I'm SO glad I crate trained Ruby. It just made everything so much easier, especially since I have an inside cat who is not all that keen on being Roo's pal. I bought one of those Topbuy soft crates, and...it's still in its box in the garage My house just isn't big enough for it as well I don't think. Plus, I cannot be completely sure that Roo wouldn't want to destroy it. I could sell it I spose... KTB, I hope Hoover has a better night tonight and the weather down your way is not as horrid. Hope your welcome meet and greet party for Hoover goes well. Would love to be there, if I didn't live here. Look forward to pics and videos though Wuffles- weren't you a little cutie??! Hope you're feeling better. Wizzle, hope you're doing okay too. Are you drinking lemonade and eating Saladas? Hi to all I've missed. It's the weekend- yay! -
Thank you for your replies. Ruby seems much better today. I fed her mashed pumpkin and chicken this morning for breakfast, and then the same tonight with a handful of her biscuits and a little yoghurt. She did her first (normal) poo this morning, so I think she's on the road to recovery

Hi all. Not a good night last night- Roo was up several times during the night with diarrhoea. I went back to bed at 2am, but took awhile to fall asleep because I thought I might have to take her out again. Had to go on an excursion with some kids from school today and fell asleep on the bus on the way home! The boss thought it was hilarious! (so did the kids apparently). Roo seems better tonight, but I haven't fed her much just in case. KTB I saw your Kong wobbler in Petbarn yesterday- it was $45!!!!! Bet Mr KTB didn't pay that much Hate how Aus retailers jack up their prices to more than twice what they should be. From a teacher point of view, stuff like stickers can be more than triple what they cost in the States! Ahem. Rant over. Should just buy stuff direct from the States or Canada. Roo is awake, so better take her out. Hoping for no diarrhoea... -
Last night my 5 1/2 month old Labrador puppy, Ruby, had an upset tummy. I'm not sure why. On Sunday she swam in a dam and ate a dead (caught in a trap, not poisoned) mouse and cow poo, but she was eating normally and seemed to be pooing as normal, albeit a bit more so than usual (I put it down to the mouse), but firm. Yesterday morning Ruby didn't want to eat her breakfast. This hasn't happened in a few months, and certianly not since I switched to Royal Canin Labrador puppy. I put it outside with her later when I went to work, and it was gone when I came home that afternoon. We went to puppy school where she was pretty much feral- even less attention span than the previous 2 weeks and not interested in the treats I had (BBQ chicken and cabanossi), and only a fleeting interest in the lamb puffs (I think) the trainer gave her. The trainer gave her a pig's ear, and that did settle her down (Ruby has had pigs and deers ears before with no problems). A little while later though, Ruby had semi-diarrhoea (some firm, some not). It was the end of class, so we left. When we got home (about 40 mins later) I gave her a small amount of biscuits (1/2 cup) with a sardine mixed through (which she has each week and loves with no ill-effects), which she ate no problem, then slept for awhile as normal. At 10pm, I took her outside and she had diarrhoea again (not watery, but not firm either) but seemed bright inside playing etc. The same thing happened again later- at around 11:30pm, 12:30am (I think, or maybe that was just a wee) and 1:30am. She had some water in between. This morning she seemed flat and not interested in food (chicken and rice with some plain yoghurt) and I rang my sister who was a vet for some advice. Before I went to work, I got her to eat some chicken and she seemed a bit brighter. This afternoon she was a lot brighter- pretty much back to her normal self, but no sign of poo during the day that I could see. Tonight I gave her a small amount of cooked mashed pumpkin with some chopped up BBQ chicken and she ate the lot. Obviously I won't be going straight back into feeding her the same amount of food as she usually has just yet, but at what stage should I reintroduce biscuits? I think I read somewhere that you can give Yakult to dogs after they've had upset tummies- is this true? Ruby didn't seem that keen on the rice and yoghurt. Thanks in advance for your help.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Okay, I've been very good and waded through all the posts before posting my own (didn't get a chance to peek during the day, and then had puppy school tonight). KTB, you're a little bit tricky to make that pic of a kids vacuum actually contain pics of your new one! :p He looks like a sweetie- Elbie has got some competition in the ears department Congratulations to you and Mr KTB- although I'm a bit sad you didn't get one from up my way, and that I can't drop by to meet your new addition on the weekend. Oh well. I shall have to continue to live vicariously through your videos ;) In other news, puppy school was not fun- Ruby was feral! Even LESS attention span (if that's even possible) than the first week, no interest in the treats I had (BBQ chicken and cabanossi) which really irks me because she will do everything at home. If it had been an option, I would have taken her home. She eventually settled down to eat a pig's ear that magical dog trainer lady gave her (think she felt sorry for me), but topped off the night by having semi-diarrhoa at the end. Yep. Good times. In hindsight (isn't it a wonderful thing?) I should have known things were not going to go well. Ruby must have been feeling unwell this morning- didn't eat her breakfast, so I put it outside with her when I went to work. And because the day had been changed due to MDTL being away and I had a staff meeting this afternoon, I basically came home, got changed, cleaned up yard, and then had to go. The last lesson is next week- I seriously don't think we'll be graduating... -

Ugh. It will be Ruby's turn next. She's 6 months old in 2 weeks, and although all the breeders say you should let them have a season first, it's just not practicable when you work and live in town. And you don't have a secure dog run. And you don't want to leave them inside all day. So it shall be done at 6 months. I was watching Aussielover's thread, but her puppy Mindy is so good all the time, it's like comparing apples and oranges. Ruby will just have to behave herself in her yard, and probably have to deal with having a bucket-head for awhile. Gah. -

And a few more And I really like this one, even though it's not great quality because it was taken in my nephew's paddock basher while he was driving (a bit scary, but I think he's way better than I was when I first started driving- and I was older than him!). -

KTB! Tomorrow???!!! Really? How exciting I'm really hoping by the way that it is of the 4-legged variety, and you're not going to post a picture of a Dyson Roo had a big play with next door's GSD boy pup this afternoon for about an hour. They were really funny together- mostly they just wrestled about on the ground, but they did chase each other a little bit. She's still asleep (been inside for about an hour and a half or so). I hope it becomes a regular thing. I had lots more to say, but now I've forgotten... Hmmm... Well, here are some more pics from Sunday (while I'm thinking about what I was going to say lol) -

Happy birthday KumaAkita! Hope you had a lovely day Geez you guys have been chatty today! Sorry to hear about Elbie not being well, KTB. Hope he's all better now. Ruby had a bad night too. After the monster poo last night, I was woken up at 4am by Ruby sounding like she was going to throw up. Thankfully, she didn't, but I thought I should take her outside just in case. Luckily I did, as she needed to wee and poo. I took her back inside and let her have a drink then put her back in her crate. I lay awake for awhile listening for her telltale snoring just in case before I let myself go back to sleep. I took her for a walk at 6:30 and while she wasn't as bouncy as usual, she seemed okay. Ate all her breakfast, and was attacking her cardboard box of treats (biscuits, a few bits of lamb and a Kong) when I left for work. I popped back home while my kids were having music after recess just to see how she was, and she was asleep in her kennel. I think she's been a bit of a pooing machine today :p . Hopefully that is the last of mousie and cow poo, and she's learnt her lesson. I gave Ruby some lamb flap when I got home. Sigh. I really don't know why I try and persist with it- she basically inhales it! It's just as well I sit out there with her while she eats it- she inhales it, then coughs it up, lather rinse repeat. After coughing it up about 4 times, I took that bit off her. Silly goose. She ate the other piece a bit slower, but then when we went for a walk, she was a little bugger grabbing the leash and playing tug and growling. Ack. Eventually we could walk on without her behaving like a hell dog, and she actually walked pretty nicely after that. Not nicely enough to make magical dog trainer lady pleased though. She won't be happy when she finds out I've kept walking Roo. -

Can't be bothered uploading to Photobucket. Sorry. Poppy is such a smiley doglet. Try as I might though, I could not get a good photo of the two of them together. Poppy doesn't know the 'stay' command apparently -

True. And considering I grew up on a farm, I should too, but still...Dogs just LURVE all things gross. When my dad would cut and clean out the horses' hooves, the dogs would be right there to grab the tasty titbits. I'm not sure whether any of you have had the pleasure of being near horses while their feet are being done, but it's stinky. And not pleasant. TMI, so look away if you are scared, but Ruby just got up and sat by the door. Good, I thought, even though she had not long been out. Toilet training is coming along well. Well, Ruby must have been having so much fun today that she forgot to go to the toilet, because she did quite possibly the biggest poo in the world! I'm hoping that's the end of mousie too. This is Roo and mama dog (Poppy) not long after Ruby got out of the car -

Hi all. I took Ruby over to my brother's place today so they could see how big she was and Roo could harrass her mama dog It was quite an eventful day. I hung out with my nephew (almost 14) for the morning while my SIL and niece were out doing horse stuff and my brother was working on the farm. Master Almost 14 took me for a drive in their "new" paddock basher and we took the dogs up the paddock to one of their (now full!) dams. Ruby jumped straight in- then decided to snack on some cow poo. Mmm mmmm. When we got back to the house, Ruby found a dead mouse- and ATE IT!!!! Now, to say I was a bit concerned is an understatement because I had no idea how the mouse had died, and all I could think of was the thread on here about the two dogs who ate rat bait. Master Almost 14 thought it was HIL-arious! I. Didn't. When I eventually grabbed her, I shoved my hand down her throat, but no luck. (I also said a word that rhymes with luck...sorry nephew) I went inside to mix up some saltwater when my SIL rang and assured me that the mouse was killed in a trap last night and they don't have any bait around. So, I just had to go with it. I have marks all over my hand from Roo's teeth, but it didn't slow her down, or her appetite. She's been fast asleep since we got back almost 2 hours ago, which suits me. I'll post some pics of Roo with her mama dog later. Hope you all had a good weekend. School is back tomorrow -
I got a mental image of Cartman from south Park when I read that :D

I have an Aldi vacuum cleaner right now so those Dysons look pretty good to me! :D OH prefers his magical "swiffer" from Canada - magical microfibre cloth thing that picks up all dust and doggy fur ... :p Yeah, I'm not convinced :D However, I do have a Dyson- love it. I bought mine last year when The Good Guys had them on sale for $399. I'm still fascinated/completely grossed out by how much dust/hair/stuff the canister thingy contains after vacuuming- even when I vacuum twice a week! -

Okay, I'll bite. Is this a vacuum cleaner of the Dyson variety- which, although fabulous machines, are not really worthy of pics on their own...ORRRRRRRRRR are you talking about a "vacuum cleaner" of the small, squishy, roly-poly four-legged variety? Hmmmmmmm? Or am I barking up the wrong tree? -
