Elbie, Hoover, Dodge & Friends!
lilli_star replied to koalathebear's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
Sounds like what happens at my house- Jasper the cat is not amused by the black imposter. He's gone from having HIS toys all over the house to having them confined to 'his' room or having them confiscated for fear Roo will eat them (she has tried twice when Jasper must have brought them out when we were outside). The black imposter on the other hand has her toys all over the place. Poor Jasper. On the plus side, he was a lot friendlier with my best friend when she came to stay a few weeks ago and my dad when he was here on the weekend (J used to hide). -

Yes, plastic bottles are always a winner- except Ruby deforms them pretty quickly She also loves demolishing cardboard boxes- I give her one most days before I go to work with her Kong inside it (and a few bits of treats- like lamb pieces) and she happily rips it to bits. It took Ruby ages to know what to do with a Kong. Now she's got it sorted, I probably should move her up to a red one instead of the puppy version. Ruby has the toy duck- that's her favourite at the moment. She brings it out of her crate when I let her out. She chews on it but so far, hasn't been able to chew anything off- unlike Bear where she chewed off one arm and is trying to get to the rest. :D Things that squeak are good- well, not for human ears though. I bought a couple from the $2 shop. Ruby loved her rope toys- she still has them but doesn't play with them much anymore. I just bought her some new toys from Dstore- a tugajug, a buster cube and a Cuz, and something else....oh! A buddy bone. Plus 2 antlers from Sway. Spoilt dog, but bought in anticipation of her desexing and wanting to keep her busy. -
Alternatives To The Elizabethian Collars

I wondered about that with the soft collars. Was going to order one (haven't booked my dog in for desexing yet, but thought I should order something now to allow for postage times), when I found this thread and decided to get one from Tasi instead I did tell him that you recommended him on here in my first email to him I had trouble measuring my unco-operative puppy, so he asked me to try and take a photo of her head next to a common object. Uhhhh, common object? :D Eventually went with a box of cling wrap! My camera batteries chose tonight to die, so I hope the pics I sent him were useful. -

Yes, I've seen the soft version advertised on banners here from Pet's Providore. I emailed Tasi from Provisor this afternoon and he replied back tonight! Price including postage (to NSW) is around $16 I think. -

My folks are in tamowrth, I'll let them know... If they hear anything I'll pass it on... This is awful... Lilli_star if your folks hear anything up there, can they pass it on? Who steals puppies???!!!! Wtf is wrong with people?! 8 days old....tiny weeny babies need their mama. And I bet she's stressing too Hopefully the stupid idiots realise they've made a huge mistake and do the right thing- even leaving them at one of the vets if not where they stole them from. My dad has just gone home after being here for the weekend. I'll mention it next time I speak to him. -
Even if you only buy the 3kg bag (which is what I have been getting) the same thing applies I think- buy 10 bags, next one free.

It didn't get lost at all, people gave their opinions on what dry food they recommended... For the last time it IS a PUBLIC forum people are VERY entitled to giving their opinion I agree with RSG - the RC Medium Junior is very good. Giving their opinion on types of dry food, yes, as that was what the original poster was asking for. However, she also got other people's opinions on other things too.

I didn't even notice tabby as an option What's grizzle? (Besides what I tell the kids in my class not to do when they don't get their own way lol) -

Oh KTB. The perils of posting outside our comfy corner! I started reading your kibble thread before here, and I was about to PM you within about 5 posts from where I left it last. Then I had to giggle as all of a sudden the cavalry came in- Max, Wuffles, Clastic, Niques, Primedogs, Raven... Bless. I deleted some stuff from the post I eventually left- nothing 'flameworthy', just a nod to Primedogs about how Deakin wouldn't work for all the treats under the sun (been there) yet would work for kibble, and then something I chickened out of saying. If a dog will work in a high distraction environment for "low value" treats, then isn't that a good thing? -
KTB, I'm sorry that the focus of your thread seemed to get lost. I hope you find a kibble that Hoover likes.

So how can Petbarn get away with charging $44.95??? I saw that the other day when I was looking at stuff. I really need to just bite the bullet and buy stuff from the States now while the Aus $ is so good, yet I'm still too chicken . Amazon.com I know you're calling me to buy the last season of Smallville on DVD.... -
Oh no Wizzle. G is a fancy lady- she'd have to be Miele KTB, as you might remember, Miss Roo became a fusspot after the Advance large breed wasn't agreeing with her. We tried Eukanuba, but she didn't like it much except when covered in sardines. She now eats RC Labrador junior and loves it. Having said that though, she'll eat Pal puppy biscuits too :D

Awww poor Elbie. He plays the long suffering big brother so well I love your videos KTB, especially when you have subtitles/thought bubble type items Well, Miss Roo and I have been home from puppy school for a little while and....drum roll please...WE PASSED!!!!* Woohoo! And, even MORE exciting is Ruby was so calm! A completely different dog! Seriously! Everyone commented on it. I don't know whether it was because I got there early and let Roo run around a bit playing fetch and practising sit and stay etc, or because of the harness that Magical Dog Trainer Lady suddenly procured today, but I don't care. Whatever it was- it worked. (Incidentally, I am so ordering a magical harness from MDTL) I was actually sorry that it was the last class tonight. I'm still deciding whether or not to do the next class level with MDTL. Although I felt like we weren't going anywhere, tonight changed my opinion. Maybe it would be better to do one more level with her before trying out normal obedience? Not sure. It depends on when the next session starts and if it clashes with end of year stuff. Plus there's the whole desexing timing issue. I'm still really confused about when to get that done. I had a great chat last night to a wonderful breeder from the Lab forum who was so helpful to me when I first got Ruby; giving me the info pack she gives to her puppy owners and just offering me great advice and calming me down when I'd read too much about "You can't leave your puppy outside!" posts etc. She brought up some good points about leaving it til Roo is a bit older, but I need to chat to the vet and ask them some questions etc. * I should say I don't think there was an actual test, but we did get a certificate! And a pig's ear for Ruby -

Their ears are mirrored! Hee! What do your doglets think of the antlers? Someone else on here bought some too....Clastic maybe? Niques, our Labs are broken. How can they not be interested in treats???? I've tried BBQ chicken, cabanossi, 4legs, shredded ham, liver treats...all of which work great at home... -

Oh Niques, I know exactly what you mean. Ruby is exactly the same (except for the recall- not good there lol). At home (inside or outside), she will do everything she is supposed to do at puppy school for any type of food. At puppy school, she just loses the plot! No interest in the treats either. If she does this in the pavillion, where there is only usually 2 other dogs, what is she going to be like at a sportsground to do obedience????! (If we go that is- by the time she's over being desexed, it will be close to hellish time for teachers- assessments and writing reports) Ack. It's really late. KTB, I'll look at your vid tomorrow (I'm sure it's great though ) And Blossom looks like a sweet girl. Reminds me of a dog who adopted us when I was 9 when we lived on the Central Coast. She was a black brindle dog (we called her a "pig dog", but who knows what actual breed) we named Tara. She wandered into our yard one day, and despite our best efforts, no one claimed her, so we did. We were just about to move to near where Dad is now, and she came with us. Little did we know, at the time she had a belly full of puppies! Now, I was 9, and I didn't know what it meant, but long story short, only one pup 'survived', and my brother named him Wart. Sadly the next year the farm we were living at had a problem with town dogs coming and killing the goats and their babies that lived on the mountain. Dad and his boss had to patrol the paddocks around our farmhouse for weeks. We ended up raising 7 orphaned kids (baby goats, not children lol) and a nanny goat with a broken leg who unexpectedly gave birth to twins (all lived the very good life and lived to ripe old ages- I think the last ones were 15 or 16 when they died). Then one day Dad and his boss saw Tara and Wart with a recently killed goat, and well, I'm sure you can work out what happened after that. Mum was devastated. She was the biggest animal lover and I remember her pleading with Dad that maybe they hadn't done it. It took her a long time to get over it I think. :D -

Awwww, I love the last pic, wuffles. Ava is so pretty and Satch looks so brooding Orange is about 3 1/2 hours from Sydney, so not that remote. But I guess it depends on where all your family are and stuff. I, ummm, have only been to Canberra once, and that was for my brother's wedding in 1995. We didn't even get to do any of the "touristy" things so...I've never been to Parliament House, or the Mint, or Questacon etc. My primary school didn't do the now obligatory Year 5/6 excursion to Canberra when I was there (although they did start it a few years after I left), and unless the boss moves me to upper primary (which please don't, I like teaching little ones), I'll never get to do that either!!!!!! Waaaaa! :D :D -

Hi everyone. Hope you've all had a good weekend. I thought I had replied to KTB's and others posts about the meet and greet, but apparently not Sounds like you had fun and Masters Elbie and Hoover were much adored. I uhhh...have never played Rock Band *blushes*. I bet it's fun though. (More fun perhaps with alcoholic beverages involved to loosen people's inhibitions ) Oooh, secret talent, Wuffles? Or are you a rock chick from way back? Does hitting the drums count as 'playing' them? :D Well, it's freezing cold in winter, and not too bad in summer. Also, this winter was really wet, but it was wet everywhere, and it's meant that dams are full, so shouldn't complain too much. Before I moved here, I had 4 years out west NSW- 3 1/2 years of that in the far west, so I was really, really over the heat and really, really, really over being so far from civilisation. Driving a 6 hour round trip in the one day just so you can go to a shopping centre was normal, but in hindsight, crazy! I like having actual seasons too. My two brothers live down this way (my two sisters live in Sydney), and I wanted to be closer to my family, especially as Dad gets older. I knew he would eventually end up moving down this way, which is what we're working on at the moment. Anyway, better go check and see what my doglet is up to. This morning she started pulling the stuffing out of one of her toys- I finished the job for her this afternoon and gave it back to her empty. There was A LOT of stuffing in it, and , apparently, a squeaker. :D Shame, 'cause she really liked the toy. It was a stuffed ball with rope on each end. Will have to go early to puppy school on Tuesday and stop by Petbarn and get a replacement. I actually had one in my hand when I was there last week, and decided she didn't need it. Typical.
