  1. You could contact the club to ask them i guess. Frank and Janice Vanetta are involved. Ph 03 5419 7493. The GSDCV will hold their ET last Saturday of June. It is a standing date. M
  2. Thanks SS, I am very disappointed at having to cancel. Was really looking forward to it. Unfortunately, business plans and personal commitments have taken precedence. If I am not judging at the GSDCV next year, I will be competing. Hoping all works out well to get to Canberra next year too! Re: ET's for next year, I will try and find out some details. M
  3. Hi All, It is with regret that I inform you that due to personal and business commitments, I am unable to go to Canberra to judge the Endurance Test. I have discussed this with Jenny and hopefully will be there to judge in 2012. Best of luck to all entrants. M
  4. I think she might tear up my judges contract and make me do it!!! M
  5. You will be fine. Really. And the club usually has a few 'emergency handlers' at the ready. Don't worry. M
  6. Me!! Cycled 30ks on the roadie on Saturday. Very different to the mountain bike. It is much much lighter and easier to ride. Need to get used to the MTB again. As I will be flying up to Canberra, I need to rely on a bike lent to me by a friend in Canberra. See you there! M
  7. Hi wuffles, make sure you come along to the ET in Canberra on September 11. It would be great for you to see what is involved so that you can properly prepare for it. M
  8. No dummies here! just people that want to learn and share their experiences and knowledge. Hope we are all of some help.... M
  9. Hi spoilt lab, There have been many discussions on this thread regarding getting started on training a dog up for an ET. Please do read or re-read through the earlier pages of this thread as I am sure you will find them helpful ( and some even quite amusing!). I am also an ET judge and am happy to offer you any advice and training tips. There is a wealth of experience with the members on this thread and we are all here to help. M
  10. Congratulations Seita and Ella. Very glad to hear that you passed. M
  11. Excellent News! Well done on a successful ET. M
  12. Best to talk to the club hosting the event first. Occasionally they have, or know of, handlers that will do the run/cycle with dogs. The cycling is obviously a lot easier for the handler, and with some practice, the dogs get used to this fairly well, and quickly. M
  13. I look forward to meeting you! There will be two groups running, so please say hello even if you are not placed in my group. M
  14. Best of luck to all who are competing at Ipswich on the 31st! Hope it is a good turn out and a good day. M
  15. Thanks, l was going to call tomorrow to find out when it would be available. Does Test 1 and Test 2 mean they are running two groups ? Yes, they are running two groups. Last year they had about 40 entrants, so it needed to be over two groups. Group 1 will start at 10.00am and Group 2 at 10.30. M
  16. Hi All, the schedule is up for the ET in Canberra. Go to: http://www.actca.asn.au/Calendar1.htm M
  17. Hi CC, I judged the Dally Club ET in 2009 at Tatterson Park in Keysborough. Personally, I prefer Cherry Lake, but the Dally Club venue is also good. The grounds are mainly gravel, a little bit of grass and not too much bitumen. It is held around the Springers Leisure Centre in Keysborough. It is completely level ground, no hills. If wet, it could be a bit slushy. Like Cherry Lake, the grounds are also open to and shared with the public whilst the ET is in operation. M
  18. Abbiestar commented on the Canberra ET earlier... Not much to go on though The ET in Canberra is held at the showgrounds. It is mainly level though there are a few small hills as you go down to different tiers of level land. It covers mainly gravelled areas and grass and a smaller amount of bitumen. The course itself is very well designed and, as the crow flies, you do not get too far away from the starting point at the GSD clubrooms. It is a good course and I think well worth the effort to travel to and enter. M
  19. Just a question... How many people from Victoria/NSW are thinking of doing the Canberra ET? M
  20. I believe the schedule should be out this week. Date is September 11. Judges are Michael Stuart (Vic) and Helen Mosslar (ACT). Venue is Canberra Showgrounds. M
  21. Best of luck TerrNik. I think your weather conditions should be a bit more favorable. M
  22. Hope you have great success at your ET. It will be cold, and the wind and rain is daunting for both human and dog. Hope to hear some good news! M
  23. Hi All, Have just heard from the organiser of the DogsACT Endurance Test in Canberra. The test will be held on September 11, and I have been invited to judge. I believe that the DogsACT ET is the last one of the year. M
