  2. oops! lol i know its today, i wrote that after midnight after getting home from a concert so i was still in 'yesterday' mode yep, positive thinking! it will all go well! whoever called him Harry Houdini early was on the mark hey - good name i say! goodluck!!!! :D :D :birthday:
  3. good luck everyone who is going out tomorrow! hope it all goes well, wish i could be there.
  4. Sorry to be a downer but given where he is likely to end up, can I suggest some publicity wouldn't go astray? He's won't need rehab unless he's released from the pound. I haven't been part of the organising for this one but i'm pretty sure we have a reason for keeping it not so public at the moment. Chewwie or bilbo have more info.

  7. my mum and dad have two 5 (or 6) year old lab x b.collie dogs. they live on a corner block (acre) and the dogs run up and down the fence anytime people walk past, large cars or motorbikes or trucks go by - barking while they are running also. if the gate is open the female has also started going out the gate a bit when the posty comes or people walk past (barking). they are not aggressive dogs in anyway, but mum is not sure how to get this under control! they are brother and sister and if one starts the other follows. help!
  8. thanks all for your advice! i think i might get in touch with the trainer our rescue group goes through - hopefully can get some help from her, my only problem is im a poor uni student! haha! i dont think she is too young for a check chain, however it is not allowed at the obedience club i attend until after 6 months of age, and at the moment i don't have anyone to teach me how to use it properly. well i know how to use it, but to combine with training. i might also look into a loose lead walking workshop like muckypup suggested. thanks again everyone L
  9. hi, i have a 5, nearly 6 month old white german shepherd who pulls really bad when i take her for a walk. i know routine is good and just re-iterate what i want from her, but i have a bad left knee, if she pushes it in the wrong way it may dislocate, sounds illy, had an operation in the last year for it, that is why i still have problems. i have spoken to my instructor at obedience that i attend every weekend but to be honest i'm sick of listening to him as he is very arrogant and pretty set in his ways. martingale has been suggested to me by some but he does not agree. check chain an idea but he says not at this age etc etc. to him shes 'just a puppy' but i need to get some sort of control on the pulling before she is full grown! she is a really well behaved dog, but does love to play and gets super excited when i take her for a walk. im not expecting a miracle, but i am after some advice on what i could do! i'm not necessarily looking for a martingale or check chain as an answer, im open to anything - though im not against either of those chains/collars either any comments or advice would be much appreciated!
  10. Hi all im new to the dog world with my 5 month white german shepherd girl, Ivy. myself and my breeder are planning on having a litter with her in a few years but for now i was thinking of crate training her for the times when she is on heat so i can keep her at my own house rather than sending her off to my breeders place. also where to get a good crate 48" or bigger without too much expense! I am just after some advice on crates, and how to crate train and also crating her for these times when she is in season. any advice or comments are welcomed!! Louise
