Completely with you... I had to rant about desexing to friends to get it out of my system. As soon as I mention I'm going to desex... you won't believe how many people come to me to talk me out of it. Reasons go from pity to the more absurd one like money. Talking about the topic once and me explaining to them is one thing.. but when everyone keeps asking the same question over and over again within a 3 days period, I gave up and tell them I'm not talking about this to non-dog people. I once said, it may reduce the chance of them getting cancer (I'm not very educated in the health side of this) but they straight away assume that my dog DOES have cancer. ("OMG your dog has cancer!! omg I feel so sorry for your dog) "No, dog does not have cancer, I said it may reduce the chance of them getting it" ("OMG, how come they have cancer, why why why) Yeah.. just ignore what I said and keep at it... :p Sorry I started ranting again...

nooooo!! I can't make it!! Kairu's training is on sundays now =( sad sad... haven't been able to attend for awhile if the club is closed for competition that week I'll definitely go though!

Kairu stays in an apartment and I don't think there's any problem with that. He prefers to stay and watch even when he's out at a park / beach with the occassional running around. Somebody said that they can't do zoomies whenever they want, that's not always the case I think. It would depend on the size of the apartment in comparison to the dog and also personality of the dog. Kairu has always done zoomies at home whenever he wants to and he does it more at home than outside. I'm also lucky that we have a back courtyard thing at the apartment and no one is barely there so I take him there to do training and other things. Planning to set up a flyball jump.. wonder if the security will let me haha..

I want a matching one too!! :D

Sometimes they take a while to go.. with Kairu, he usually go around the same time, so if you know it is time for them to go, maybe wait a little longer at the place?

oh no! hope Puck is fine.

Which Breed Makes The Cutest Puppies?

I had the option to add the test / fluids when I desex mine. I didn't do the test but did the fluids for additional $20 or $25 I think it was. The fluids was for "incase of emergency, there will be supply available" I found that was a bit dodgy.. I mean shouldn't they have them ready incase of emergency anyway? Even if they don't end up using them, just for the incase of emergency, I paid them anyway.

Ah I see! thanks for explaining that

The one trying to hump is a young puppy, I think about 4 months old. He only humps Kairu and none of the other dog there. My initial thought was he wanted to hump dogs that are smaller than him in size but he leaves other smaller ones and only goes after Kairu. I do know the owner of the dog so it could possibly be because he knows Kairu more than the other dogs but I'm not too sure. This is both dogs being a male dog and I'm quite certain Kairu doesn't welcome the hump. ETA: Corvus, what does it mean by displacement behaviour?
-
I can definitely see if the dog retaliate and it turns into a dog fight. I guess not responding might be a better thing then
-
I definitely don't like humping dogs either and will definitely remove them upon sight. Will be very annoyed at those who think humping my dog is funny I'm just wondering whether this is something that needs works on.. and what I can do for it.. CW EW: do you know if it is more desirable that the dog tells them off or just stay put and asks us to help?

Hi.. I have been wondering about how some dogs react to another dog trying to hump them. There are some that will probably get aggressive but I want to ask about those that does nothing. So here comes a dog trying to hump him, from whichever direction, he'll just do nothing. No whine, no growl.. And even if he's on the ground, doesn't seem to be putting effort to get up, he'll just stay like that. I'm happy to read any articles on it if you can point out some. Eta: I forgot my question. Is this a submissive behavior?

Not at all, I started counting at 1 month haha I'm also interested about the vit d requirement. How long per day generally for canines?

thanks a lot SnT!

oo.. how cool.. Kairu's one is still way too big for him.. sad sad..
-
can you tell us where it is?
-
 some people are unbelievably stupid... even near busy roads.. during the busiest time.. no recall whatsoever, just came running towards me. and they tell me "don't worry she only wants to play" coming from someone who has no control of the dog... like really? ETA: where about are you megan? the carlton garden doesn't seem to have that many offleash dogs.. most times I go, I don't even see any dogs.

Hi, I've just been wondering, the difference of Japanese spitz and American Eskimo dog. I've never seen an AE but from what I've read they come in different sizes. Anything else that is different with them? How would you go about differentiating them? From the google pictures they look so similar? Thanks!

YAY! hopefully I can make it to this one.. Kairu is having his stitches from his desex OP out on the 10th, will see how that goes, if all is good we'll be there

Very cute!! Barking while playing could be a normal thing, I have never own a cavalier but my dog growls while running around the house by himself. If you've only just brought them home, maybe you can ask the neighbor whether they bark when you're not around and how bad it is. You can even ask the security. Are they inside or outside when you go out?
-
That could very well be the reason, he does fall to his bum, but does not even attempt to poo when I take him out so I have no idea if it is pain. Thanks for sharing minxy, he sure can hold for a long time tho.. I know he's been very eager to lick, bite and scratch the area.. Thank dog for the ecollar

Thanks aussielover, he usually go once a day, occasionally twice. I'm very sure there is no poop in the house unless he ate it. So no I'm not 100% on that. He has no major exercise only very little walking here and there in the house. Will look how he is tomorrow, he doesn't look sick, very eager to do zoomies and eat so hopefully it's nothing.

1. They did clean his teeth at the same time. He is almost 9 months. His breath smells like.. um.. it doesn't really smell like poo.. more like.. um... say.. in a human case, when you have mouth ulcers, your breath might smell like this? 2. As in, he has not poop after the desex until now. which is 2 days. thanks ETA missed a question

Hi, I would like some opinion on post - desexing conditions.. Just desexed Kairu on Monday and there's 2 things I want to get opinions about. 1. Is it normal to have bad breath after the desex? 2. He doesn't toilet (poop) as normal either. He had a 'major' surgery according to the vet because one hasn't dropped and they had to find it and so did 3 incision(sp?) He was fed half the amount of food he usually get for the past 2 days and will be returning to normal amount today. I rang the vet to ask about it and according to her it's not something to worry about usually, the bad breath could be a light irritation from the tubes? and not pooping because he's only had half the amount of food. I am going to see after normal feeding today if he'll go poop tomorrow but would like opinions if anyone experience this before? I am also not sure whether the bad breath is because he actually has poop and decided to eat it. I take him to the toilet everyday to do his toilets and now he is on crate confinement, he has never ever poo in his crate though, so it doesn't seem likely. Thanks ETA: Just to update that today he has finally pooped and his breath has improved! yay
