  1. Mostly, and some definitely - but I wouldn't want to put myself to the test! There are a couple who I look at faces and think they're one puppy, and they end up being another one. White and Burgundy can be hard to tell apart, in particular :)
  2. She's been a handful since the moment she was born :) She was the one that, very early on, was the major complainer - if she ever lost a teat she would scream the house down! It's funny how they sometimes show these traits so early, and remain consistent to them :)
  3. This one? :p She is the only one to consistently attach herself to your leg as you try to walk! I'm actually very grateful that they're 6 weeks old and it's only one who hangs onto your pant legs.... the rest will catch on soon enough!
  4. Some more Orange girl Purple girl Burgundy girl Black girl (great focusing skills there, Trace... at least her body is in focus, shame about her head!) Yellow girl Red girl
  5. Think I need to send these puppies back, they're just too unattractive! </huge-sarcasm> Green boy Blue boy Brown boy White girl
  6. Oh puppies LOVE tunnels :D Wouldn't be without a cat tunnel as an essential play toy when we have a litter now, they just get so much enjoyment and enrichment out of them :D
  7. Sure, but Black goes for the "I can sleep in stupid places" trophy!
  8. I don't know if anyone else has posted this, but some of the photos are just a bit cute! 12 Newborns who had their first photo shoot with their pets... http://breakingsoup.com/pets/12-newborns-who-had-their-first-photo-shoot-with-their-pets/
  9. That would be by their collar colours  Although there are now enough differences that I can pick most of them by their faces :) Still, I wouldn't want to have my life depending on picking them all correctly if they all lost their collars! OMG so cute!! Butter definitely wouldn't melt in those mouths!! Ours are all well and truly weaned now, and Nova has been separated from them for the past week after she developed very bad mastitis in one of her mammary glands. We were trying to dry her up anyway at that point, so we just had to really bite the bullet. We couldn't let them suckle from the affected gland, as they have big teeth and she was just in so much pain with it - it would have endangered the puppies I think, she even tried to bite me while I was expressing it, she was just that sore, poor love. So, it was cold turkey for the pups! Planning to get her back with them from tomorrow so that she can at least go back to playing with them and teaching them manners :) She's mostly dried up now, and the swelling in her mammary gland is almost completely gone. She's still on antibiotics and only finished her anti-inflammatories this morning.
  10. Ours are going like a house on fire :D How about your two little cuties? Here's our five week old head shots from yesterday :)
  11. As long as you can clearly see his waist, then he weighs what he weighs :) I agree with the vet - much better that he be on the lean side while growing, that's much easier on his developing joints :) He might end up being a smaller male, or he might just develop slowly. We have two males here, directly related, who are at opposite ends of the standard for height. Radar is at the smaller end, and weighs about 40kg. Neo is right at the top and weighs about 55kg. So there can be quite a big difference in individual dogs :)
  12. Roughly 8kg :) Average weight about 1kg per week of age by that stage :)
  13. Dee is special though :) Doesn't matter if she doesn't have the best head in the world, she's still loved by many :D
  14. My apologies, I should have clarified that it can also just happen - it's not always bad breeding. No offense intended! After all, I have Feonix here, who IS an Australian Champion, and she has a longer muzzle and not enough stop - I'm not thrilled with her head shape at all, and she's from lines that have very strong and correct head types. She then went on to produce Nova who has a very good head shape :) So yes, it can also just be genetic lottery. By and large though - long pointy faces are often the result of poor breeding, for example backyard breeders breeding without actually knowing what the standard is :)
  15. Basically, it's just good and bad breeding. Longer, pointier noses are not correct in the breed standard. Mind you, neither are some of the extreme short/square faces that we see now in some lines. The ratio of muzzle to skull should be 1:1.5. It's a bit of an old wives tale that longer pointer noses are American lines and squarer heads are German lines :) A correctly bred dog will have a squarer head shape, but not overdone :)
  16. We have one going to a show home in Perth and another to a possible show home in FNQ, so you never know :) We show so rarely now that it's unlikely that our girl will get titled! I just have no enthusiasm for it anymore. Hoping to start obedience trial work with Nova next year though, would love to get back into trialling!
  17. Absolutely right, Griff! :D Massive congratulations to Sue and Stan, who own and campaign Rave, to Sarah, who bred Rave, and to Rave for achieving his Australian Championship title yesterday!
  18. It's been a bit of an experiment using individual bowls, we normally have big group bowls. We just started these guys in single bowls, as you tend to do when at the very beginning anyway, and then continued - they don't know anything different, and they all eat in a very well behaved manner (even if some of them are still gorging piglets - at least it's only in their own bowls) :) I still think we've been very luck with how well these guys took to weaning though, so not sure how much of a role that has played with them eating well in their own bowls. Will need to try it in another litter to get a bit more of an idea
  19. Lunch time! First time we've done it as a group of 10 rather than 2 groups of 5 :) They've been amazingly easy to wean, and easy to feed - stick to their own bowls, no mess, very lucky with how good these guys have been!
  20. Yellow is the little sweetie :) She was the smallest born, and she's a very sweet, gentle girl - very cuddly :D
