I think I could handle chicken feet - at least they don't stare at you!
-
Ewww ewww ewww ewww I've accidentally grabbed chicken necks by the head when bagging up meat on a few occasions - I'm now an eagle eye when it comes to the bagging of necks, you should see me poking through the box checking for heads ;) I'm the same Warley - give me blood, guts and whelping but watch me run away screaming from a chicken head

I'm so sorry that Keisha has left you BP The love you showed her in letting her go is the greatest gift you could possibly have given her. Keisha will watch over you, Jeff and Diesel until it is time for you to all meet again. RIP beautiful Keisha

My 9 Year Old Rottie Girl Has Had A Stroke
Allerzeit replied to rakaaz's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Oh God Susie I will look around and see if I can find any information for you. Give Flynn a cuddle from me, poor baby. -
Anne, that is excellent news! I'm so please to hear that Sophie is coping so well - whatever it is you and your veterinary team are doing, keep at it so we can see more reports like this With the Reiki - as you said it can't hurt, and you just don't know - you do hear reports of it helping in people and animals. Please give Sophie cuddles from me and tell her to keep at it! BP - how is Keisha? Please give her cuddles from me as well

Slippery Elm is wonderful! Do try it if you can I've used Slippery Elm powder on myself and found it to be excellent - mind you, I would have rather taken it in a tablet form because the powder mixed in water is completely foul - the dogs seem to like it though (probably because it is foul).

Kaz, the earliest definite signs I've ever picked up is sudden, unexplained swelling, lumps etc. The lumps are rock hard, and come up incredibly quickly. Even earlier, if the growth is affecting a limb, you will probably see lameness - but that might be disregarded as muscle pain, arthritis, etc. With Cain we actually thought he had dislocated his shoulder - one day there was nothing, the next there was a large swelling over his shoulder. With Stewie, OH was just patting him and ran his hand over Stu's leg when he felt a slight swelling. Called me to have a look, I took one feel and burst into tears. That was only the slightest swelling, it was barely visible - but you could feel it was in the bone :D
-
As Anne said, not breed specific as such - but it is so incredibly common that I wouldn't be at all surprised if there was a genetic link. Everytime we turn around we hear of another Rotty with osteosarcoma these days - it's starting to feel like we lose more Rotts to this disease than to anything else. We had Stewie with it in his leg, Cain in his shoulder, Chance in his jaw. How are Sophie and Keisha this morning? Please give them morning cuddles from me :D

Rottweiler Health Issues And Nutrition
Allerzeit replied to kiahzen's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Unfortunately, that is the reason it will probably only ever be an idea in my head  The fact that everytime we turn around we hear of another Rottweiler with cancer - particularly Osteosarcoma - is terrifying, but I just don't know that the Rottweiler community will ever be able to work together sufficiently to properly investigate any genetic links. Still, I can dream and think. -
Rottweiler Health Issues And Nutrition
Allerzeit replied to kiahzen's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Thank you for starting this thread, Bluepoppy  I would like to throw another link into the mix http://www.herbal-treatments.com People are probably sick of me saying this, but I have no doubt that Robert McDowell's mixtures assisted Stewie's quality of life while he was fighting Osteosarcoma. I am also toying with the idea of collating information on cancer in our breed based on bloodlines - still early days of thinking, and it will probably just remain a thought in my head , but one day I think it's something that needs to be examined. -
What a horrid time you had of it, berty  With Stewie I created a thread about his osteosarcoma, and the support I received in that thread was incredibly important to me. I still go back and read it when I need a good cry.

Abby Puppy Cookie Monster, It was a year ago today that you left us so suddenly Only 2 years old, your "dad's" pride and joy, Enya's best mate, our Cookie Monster. We still don't know what happened to you to make you leave us so unexpectedly, it haunts us both and I think it always will. You are in our thoughts and our hearts every day. I hope you are being good at the rainbow bridge. Don't give Stewie, Innes or Kansas too much of a hard time will you - give them licks for us please. Love Mum This photo shows how cheeky Abby was - I was actually trying to take a photo of Stewie, but Abby just had to pop her head into the photo It shows her personality so clearly that it is one photo of her that is guaranteed to make me chuckle

Greyhound Chiropractor/manipulator
Allerzeit replied to Allerzeit's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Hmmm - I hadn't even thought of Bowen! Thanks for that -
Hi all! I'm wondering if anyone in NE Victoria can recommend a good Greyhound/dog chiro/manipulator? We normally see David Jones in Chiltern - and I love him to bits, he's done some wonderful things for my dogs but I know he's trying to cut back on the amount of work he's doing, so wondered if anyone can recommend anyone else in the area? Around Wang - Albury/Wodonga region? Thanks

Rappie, you've just made me very thankful that we don't have Death Adders! We have plenty of RBB and Eastern Browns, and a few Tigers. I'm finding this all very interesting. We did lose Kansas last year to what I believe was snake bite. I believe snake bite because after she had died we found the dead, and clearly dog bitten, RBB snake under her kennel. Kansas was off colour for a day or two, and then I saw her urinating and there was clearly blood in the urine. Straight into the vet, and the vet decided it was a kidney infection or a UTI. I asked about snake bite and was assured that it couldn't be snake bite, as she would already have died. Kansas seemed to improve with the antibiotics, so I accepted the UTI diagnosis, but then a couple of days later she crashed and died very quickly. It's interesting to hear of others experiences with delayed reaction. I only wish I had insisted the vet do a blood test to check for snake bite

Boris Is Getting Operated On Today
Allerzeit replied to saintlysusan's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
How is Boris doing this morning? -
Thanks for that feedback Rappie, I was hoping you would comment I'm still watching Anya like a hawk, fortunately she's a very full on dog so any change in personality is going to stick out like the proverbial. Colour is good, pee is clean, eyes are normal, and she is still leaping around like an idiot and eating like a pig. I will keep watching her extra closely for a while yet - I wasn't surprised about the 48 hours, but I was stunned with the delay of up to a week Good information to have, thanks!
