What a beautiful girl! I'm so very, very sorry for your loss  Run free at the bridge Honey, play happily with all of your new friends. Watch over your beloved humans until the time comes to meet them again

Possibly legal, but a direct breach of the COE - hardly an ethical breeder. ETA: Thinking on this more, I had a feeling that at least some of the airlines won't fly pups under the age of 8 weeks. Just checked Virgin Blue, and it is certainly the case for them. Haven't looked at Qantas yet. Of course, I guess that relies on the honesty of the person sending the pup to a degree, since it's unreasonable to expect airline staff to be able to tell the difference between a 7 week old pup and an 8 week old pup. ETA: AAE (freight for Qantas) are the same - will not accepts pups under 8 weeks of age.

Ethically, registered breeders are not allowed to let pups go until they are at least 8 weeks of age. I don't know about the legalities, however, our local paper, in the classifieds section under Pets, normally includes a statement to the effect that it is an offense to sell pups under the age of 8 weeks.

Didn't Realise This Site Was Only For Pure Breeds. Are We Still W
Allerzeit replied to skyelea's topic in Puppy Chat
Damn, she's a cutie!! Welcome to the forum Plenty of members have or have had mixed breed dogs, so don't worry about that. As long as you aren't promoting the breeding of cross bred dogs you will be fine -
Unfortunately, considering your pup is from an unethical, unregistered breeder, there is actually an increased risk of health issues. Registered, ethical breeders perform specific health testing on their breeding dogs to minimise the risk of any genetic health issues cropping up. This won't have happened with the person who produced your pup. In addition, registered, ethical breeders will provide ongoing support if anything does happen. Again, you will miss out on this.

Is There Any Alternative Treatments For Dogs With Lymphoma?
Allerzeit replied to kizzybear's topic in Palliative Care Forum
I've not experienced Lymphoma, but when our Stewie had Osteosarcoma we had him on Robert McDowell's treatments, and I have no doubt these helped him maintain a better quality of life for longer than he would have experienced otherwise. Robert does have a Lymphoma mixture that might be worth a try - it certainly won't hurt your girl, and it may well give her better quality of life. http://www.herbal-treatments.com/dog_lymph...er_support.html Hugs to you, it's a hard road you are on and I sympathise strongly with you. -
That is just wonderful, Missymoo!! You have put the biggest smile on my face, and I do believe I might have some grit in my eyes as well I hope you and Hef have an absolutely wonderful Christmas
-
Absolutely, but also combined with the problem of irresponsible breeders (BYB and registered), selling pups to anyone with a fist full of cash regardless of the type of person they are - and there are far too many breeders around that do that. If we had responsible breeders and owners then things, in relation to BSL, would be VERY different.
-
Not what you said though, is it? You clearly, unequivocally stated that the dogs weigh more than their owners. My reaction was a demonstration of how painful and annoying those very common, untrue and exaggerated comments are to those of use who know these breeds back to front, inside out and every other way around. Generalisations, exaggerations and untruths are exactly the type of bull**** that the media pull out to make a breed seem to be something that it isn't, and I, and I'm sure other breeders and lovers of breeds under attack from BSL, take exception to comments along those lines.
-
Sorry, not picking on you here - I fully respect your reasons for crossing the road when you see a Rotty, unfortunately the breed does attract a macho, irresponsble crowd, so I understand your reasons. However... Just what do you think a Rotty weighs? I always cringe at the "they weigh more than their owner" type comments. They go right along with the "Yeah, I used to have a rockwheeler - he was this big" (holding hand up to chest height). The average weight for a Rottweiler bitch is 40kg, for a dog 50kg Must be some mighty petite Rotty owners you are talking about if the dogs weigh more than their owners

Great news It also gets calls from the Cheif Exec from the VCA You must be "spethal" "Spethal" is one way you could put it Sorry - just had to pop in and SwaY because I haven't done so in, ohhh, must be at least 48 hours -
Oh Goodness Unfortunately, I couldn't offer any advice that hasn't already been offered as I have never experienced anything like thi. If I were in your shoes, I would take Rappie's advice - have her thyroid levels checked, and have a senior profile done as well to give you an idea of how she is travelling, and see if that gives you a course of action to jump on.

Interceptor Spectrum
Allerzeit replied to cavalier_resue_QLD's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
We use Interceptor Spectrum for our dogs, and have for years Never had a problem, and would happily recommend it to others Re the PP website - you are correct, The Spotted Devil - you don't have to enter in credit card details when you make your purchase. Instead you print off your order, fill in your credit card details and then fax it to them. If you are paying by direct deposit, you are given their bank details and you complete the deposit through your bank. The only personal information they request through unsecured form submission on the website is your billing name and address, and delivery name and address. -

Don't panic The admins now have an option to convert all prefixes in the database to uppercase - so this magic button will be pressed every now and then to bring everything to uppercase and consistency. Any differences in case will only be temporary. -

Been thinking exactly the same thing You've just worded it really well for me though I've made a note to add this onto the front page provided SwaY agrees? SwaY - that OK with you? It's in the list waiting to get fixed, Allerzeit is working on it. Yep, it's on my list Changes will take a little while to be made at the moment, but don't worry we will get to them. There is no option for admin people to edit existing prefixes themselves, because I haven't written that part yet So, at the moment I am making changes to existing prefixes directly in the database. I have a couple of draft sites I have to have up today for clients, so it will be a couple of days before I can setup Sway, Warley and whoever else is busy at work, to be able to edit prefixes themselves -

I have not coded in states, and I am not convinced that it would be wise to do so Reasons being: 1. People move around all the time and it would be a logistical nightmare trying to keep the states correct 2. Some breeders may not want their states listed 3. There are now over 2000 prefixes in the database and it would take a VERY long time to edit each of those to include information on state -

The search will list breeds associated with each prefix Can I suggest, though, that listing State as well would have the potential to become an absolute nightmare to maintain - it would very quickly become inaccurate as people move around, and it would be exceptionally difficult to keep on top of who is now living in which state. SwaY - I almost have a prototype ready to go up - can you PM me with your hosting access details when you're ready, and I can start setting up the DB on your server - probably sometime tomorrow -
