  1. Jack Daniels quoll....manna from the doGs! So says Dewey as well, going by your photos!
  2. Our visitors - well, the female half of our visitors - hates dog shows, she gets dragged around them in Victoria, I think she would kill me if I dragged her to one while she was on holidays I'll just have to have a chat to Neo about winning Junior in Group
  3. So you all Royaled yesterday? No Royaling tomorrow? I'm there tomorrow - I miss all the fun! And to top it off, now I desperately want a chocolate chip muffin! Thanks, ellz! We have visitors arriving tomorrow as well, so I think Dogfest is off the list for us, but I will be checking back here for photos of the rest of you ;)
  4. Grand Manor Motor Inn - it's in Queanbeyan rather than Canberra, but they were just brilliant with the accommodating the dogs - http://www.grandmanor.net.au
  5. It's not a cabin, but we stayed in a hotel over there earlier this year that was dog friendly - dogs were allowed in the rooms - I can go through my emails and find the details if you're interested?
  6. Dawwwww!! Now I'm missing our sheep I can't wait until we get the paddocks ready and get some new ones! This year hasn't been the same without lambing time and the pure joy that is a lamb playing ;) ETA: The cat looks very unimpressed! If looks could kill!
  7. Our Orka Stick lasted about 5 minutes, after me bragging to OH that it would last forever..... We did have an Orka Ball a while back - http://www.vetnpetdirect.com.au/PSTOBR - and that did last (not the rope, that was sacrificed early) - I think it got left in one of the dog runs at our old place It was because of the ball that I thought the stick would last, but nope. Other toys we've had that lasted well http://www.vetnpetdirect.com.au/KNOTS?sc=9&category=171 - eventually got lost, but was still completely unharmed last time I saw it http://www.vetnpetdirect.com.au/TUFMR?sc=9&category=171 - we still have our Tuffie Ring, although it's a normal sized one, not a mega one - it's chewed up but still holding its stuffing, and we've probably had it for a good 2 years. They have worked through a few layers of material, but they still haven't beaten it By far the best of the tuffie toys that we've tried :D
  8. ;) There's nothing quite like the sound of slapping boobies from 20 paces! As Aziah mentioned, Jett tiring is something to keep in mind going into the whelping - but at least you know up front that it's a big litter so you can be prepared that she might get tired and need assistance in the later stages to finish off
  9. If she's healthy and there's no reason to expect problems, then I don't see the need to go to an elective c-section We've had double figure litters on more than one occasion, all whelped normally. Does she come from lines that have problems whelping naturally? That would be the only reason I would be looking at an elective c-section at this stage of the pregnancy, assuming everything else was proceeding normally. If it were me, I would be proceeding as normal and letting the bitch do her thing, but being prepared to take the bitch in for veterinary assistance if it looks like she needs it, the same as I would normally do. Do you have someone experienced to be with you and help you through your first whelping, Trina? I can only imagine how nervous you are feeling, particularly now that you've been told how big the litter is - but if you can have an experienced breeder with you during the whelping, they can help to teach you what is normal and should be able to use their experience to pick up on any potential problems at an early stage Make sure your vet is happy to be contacted if needed during whelping, and even ask them if you can let them know when she has started so that they can be prepared in case they're needed. And, most importantly, BREATHE :D
  10. He's not going to fade away in a hurry that's for sure! ;) Derwent Valley Produce is the only place in New Norfolk. It's only $4 or so more expensive than Animal Tuckerbox which I figure is the difference in the travelling cost to get to Moonah! Thanks for that We've purchased it from Derwent Valley Produce also, I was curious if there was somewhere else I hadn't found yet The Roberts rural store at Bridgewater have it as well, also about $4 - $5 cheaper than Derwent Valley Produce, so we purchased some from there when we were picking up other stuff from them ;)
  11. Jesus! What a horrible post. What is wrong with you? People were trying to help you and this is how you behave. I am shocked. What part of Tassie are you in? Hope its not near me LOL Poor pup. You and me both! ;)
  12. At her age it is unlikely that she is physically able to "hold on" for 4 hours like that! Baby puppies have very limited bladder and bowel control, the length of time they can "hold on" increases as they get older, but you cannot expect a puppy to be reliably toilet trained until they are at least 6 months old. You are angry that this poor pup has defecated in her crate, because she physically had no other choice Do you realise that this was probably quite a distressing experience for her? Puppies naturally want to be clean and will go out of their way to avoid urinating and defecating in their sleeping area - you will see a litter of pups, from the moment they start to walk, will remove themselves from their sleeping area to toilet. You have confined her in an area for a such a period of time that she has been forced to toilet in an area that would have caused her discomfort and distress, and you are angry about it? Your expectations are very unrealistic.
  13. Definitely a picture of health is the lovely Roger As an aside, where do you get your UA/GB from, ellz?
  14. Still thinking of you, Anne :D I'm glad that Faith is home - I totally understand what you mean about it being a comfort when their ashes come home
  15. Hi everyone We've entered Feonix and Neo into the Hobart Royal. Now, it's been 15+ years since we were last entered in a royal show, and that was in Adelaide, so I have some "newbie" questions if anyone is able to help? First, do people tend to "dress" their benches at Hobart? I visited the Hobart Royal last year and I can't remember seeing any dressed benches (which doesn't mean there weren't any, rather it's just a demonstration of my shocking memory!). I don't want to go all dressy if we are going to be the odd ones out, and I don't want our benches to be undressed if everyone else is dressy - I want to conform with the masses! Also, if it is common practice to dress the benches, does anyone have a rough idea of the bench sizes so that I can make sure that our wall coverings are wide enough? I feel like such a dunce asking these questions Any help much appreciated
  16. Just an update We are all settled in Tasmania and ready and raring to go with our first day back at obedience tomorrow at Hobart Dog Training Club! Very excited to meet some more Tassie people and get back into training! It's been over a month, and I know that Enya is just as eager to get back into it as I am - I only have to tell her that we are going to obedience training and she gets excited
  17. From the rottweiler breed standard section on temperament: That is the CORRECT rottweiler temperament. Yes, he is self assured and fearless, and yes he will naturally guard his property and family, but he is also good natured, placid in basic disposition, fond of children, very devoted, obedient, biddable, eager to work, and steady in temperament. A rottweiler with a correct temperament IS be a "sociable breed" with a "bullet proof temperament" - to quote your terminology. A rottweiler which is more likely "to react aggressively in stressful situations" - again to quote you - is not a rottweiler with a correct temperament.
  18. It's not on at all in Tassie (southern Tas at least) - good thing it's on Youtube!
  19. Yeah, this is how perfect and beautiful Molly is
  20. Here you go This is our Molly ("Woollys Molly 3rd"), who is a pedigreed smooth Border Collie (Australian Working Border Collie Registry)
  21. I bet there is a good chance I could identify the person based on that description too! I know of at least one rotty person who is a serial bait thrower - throws bait all over the ring every time they are in there and normally doesn't bother to pick it up before they leave the ring.
