RIP sweet Zara Hope you're holding up as well as can be expected RL1, I know you must be heartbroken at the moment :)
  5. We've used Robert McDowell several times, and I'm always happy to recommend him and his staff We had Stewie, with osteosarcoma in his front leg - on a natural diet and Robert McDowells herbal treatments, Stewie had a very good quality of life, without needing conventional pain relief for 10 months after diagnosis. We used to use some of his treatments for Enya's lameness in her flattened foot (severed digital tendons after putting her foot through a window), with much success. We've also used some of his allergy treatments for one of our dogs that used to get allergies.
  6. If you are in NE Vic, then give David Jones in Chiltern a try. We lived in NE Vic until mid last year and took many dogs to David over the years, with much success. PM me if Chiltern is doable for you and I will dig up his phone number
  7. That is quite strange I transfered my prefix between states no worries without having to re-sit the exam. Also did not re-sit for my second prefix application. We moved from SA to Victoria in 1996 and transferred our prefix without any need to re-submit or re-sit the exam (this was probably before the exam was even in place though) We moved from Victoria to Tasmania last year, and again transferred our prefix without having to re-submit or re-sit the exam. Not that we could have re-submitted anything. We got our prefix over 20 years ago, well before the exam existed so wouldn't have had anything to re-submit anyway
  8. Ouch! We had Feonix done at Eastern Shore a few weeks ago, which cost us $290, not including reading - so came out at about $370 including reading. I was happy with the x-rays, and liked that they were digital. The vet was easy to deal with and he was very conscious of making sure that we were happy with what he'd done. It was a BIG price difference to the almost $700 we paid for Neo's x-rays and reading just before Christmas! leopuppy - we will continue to use Lavelle for our readings now, I'm happy to recommend him
  9. Yay! Lots of fingers crossed for you!
  10. I would definitely want those re x-rayed and re scored - that is poor, uneven, positioning. The hips actually look pretty reasonable to my untrained eye - particularly the better positioned hip - do you mind if I ask what the score was? I would be pointing the vet to the website below, so that they can see how to correctly position hips and so that they can see the poor positioning they have produced, and I would be politely requesting that they re x-ray at no charge with correct positioning. http://leerburg.com/hipart.htm
  11. I agree with the sentiments already expressed, and have nothing further to add as far as that goes - but just wanted to express my heartfelt sympathies to you on your loss
  12. http://www.themercury.com.au/article/2011/...mania-news.html RIP Wags
  13. Roger does digital..... (which is nothing like Debbie Does Dallas Sorry, just sounded funny at the time :D Well, you are right - he totally does We just had Feonix's digital x-rays read by Dr Lavelle - very prompt service, I'm impressed and happy to recommend him
  14. How are you coping, gsdog2? Was just thinking about you and hoping that you're bearing up as well as you can
  15. Oh, and pour your heart out in here - seriously... the support that you get on the DOL Rainbow Bridge is amazing and will help, I promise. My heart absolutely goes out to you, cry like a banshee in here, because we understand your pain and will be your rock to lean on and :D to you gsdog2
  16. I totally understand I had to say goodbye to Enya 4 weeks ago - she was a heart dog for me, the closest bond I have ever had with a dog - and I still find myself crying over her. I can be fine one minute and in tears the next - sometimes I can talk about her, sometimes I can't. All I can offer you is that over time the pain will lessen, and you will spend more time remembering with smiles rather than tears - until then you need to be kind to yourself, let yourself cry when you need to, and give yourself time :D
  17. I got emailed access details today...... I'm not even a Dogs Victoria member anymore
  18. You can also gently blow on their nose, or kiss them on the nose (I kiss them on the nose ;): ). Doing that makes them lick their nose, and to do that they have to swallow apparently
  19. That's beautiful ;) Well, not the part about you being so sick!! Feel better soon Sounds like you have a pretty good nurse there, looking after you
  20. So Lavelle won't score digital x-rays? I think the vet that I'm hoping to use for Feonix does digital x-rays.
  21. Wow - that looks great! Bought a king sized bed Yes, seriously, bought a king sized bed because there wasn't enough room for us and the dogs
  22. Swanbrook's not alone in being charged prices like that - Neo cost me over $650 for hips and elbows. Unfortunately, some vets charge a hell of a lot more than others. We are getting Feonix done, but I might hang off for a month and then re-assess what's happening with Wyburn.
  23. Thanks anniek We are south-ish - well, south is quicker to get to for us than what north is, anyway
