  1. They do have good colour for their age, but I don't think it's as rich a red as the photos show - I think that's more of an effect of the flash and the contrast caused by that

  5. We have a 2 week old litter of 7 to a 5 year old maiden bitch - never again. She's a lot of hard work. Her whelping was relatively painless, she did need to go into the vet for oxytocin to finish off, but apart from that she was fine. She was initially aggressive towards the pups, and needed a few days of intensive work before she came around. She now loves them but she is clumsy, struggling with her milk and not really interested in staying in the box with the pups - has to be made to go into the box every few hours to feed, and doesn't really toilet them well (won't do poo at all) - consequently we are still pretty much monitoring around the clock (I don't have bags under my eyes, I have a full luggage set). I have no way of knowing how much of this is her age, and how much of it is just her. She comes from lines of easy whelping and maternal bitches - it may just be that she would have been like this at whatever age, but who knows... We should have mated her a few years ago, and I regret not doing so now.
  6. I have a "Little Buddha Girl" here to match him
  7. The ANKC Code of Ethics for breeders states: So, if you are an ANKC registered breeder, then breeding primarily for the pet market or to make a profit is an unethical practice, regardless of the size of the breeding operation.
  8. I'm so sorry Britt RIP little angel
  9. Ewwww to the poo, but YAY to the kitten tunnel fun! I've ordered a cat tunnel, which is on it's way - I've heard of a few people now who've given their pups cat tunnels to play in, and it sounds like they have a ball :D I ordered this one - should be interesting to see how many collisions occur in the middle Three way cat tunnel Orange girl is starting the get eyes!
  10. So true!! Gawd, they're adorable though - everyone's puppies, I want them all!!! Actually, its 12am and I'm supervising a feeding - no, I take it back, I have enough puppies! Our guys are 10 days old now - purple and yellow girls are both over 1kg, with everyone else ranging from 870 - 945 grams at last weigh in. They're being a bit slower than we're used to with weight gains - only putting on between 50 - 100 grams a day, but Feonix isn't exactly overflowing with milk and she's not interested in staying in the box with them all the time. She wants to feed and then once they fall off, she thinks she done until next feed. I'm trying to encourage her to stay with them more, but really I can't just sit in the box with her constantly, forcing her to stay there. Still, they are content puppies and gaining weight daily, so I think they're doing fine - they will just be weaned earlier than we normally would, I think. Eyes will start to open in the next few days, they are getting up on their feet and walking (drunkenly) around the box, and starting to hold their heads up when lying / half sitting, like proper little dogs, as well as growling and barking (don't piss Purple off, whatever you do - boy will she give you an earful if she's not happy!)
  11. Yep, this Hip scoring is more than just doing it before breeding - it's valuable information for breeders to know what other dogs in their bloodlines are like in terms of scores, regardless of if they are bred with or not - it's all part of painting an overall picture. Don't be too certain that the dog was never chipped. I was there when Feonix was chipped as a baby, and she was tested after being chipped, so I know it was all done corretly - yet when we had her x-rayed earlier this year the vet couldn't find her chip and we had to re chip her.
  12. Hey AG - where did you get your Black Hawk from?
  13. Well, personally I don't know how you've made it through your first 2 years given your dreadful customer service........... I ordered my spare set of Identapup collars and I think it took you a full 15 minutes to fill my order after I placed it. It took 10 minutes when I ordered my first set of collars - that's a 50% increase in how long it took! Not good enough! :p You rock, SwaY! Congratulations and happy 2nd birthday to Whelping Supplies! May you continue on from strength to strength!
  14. I don't have a formal questionnaire, but I do have standard questions that I ask people - not always formally, but often just worked into general conversation Your puppies, your questions. If he doesn't like them, then he's free to go and look elsewhere, it's as simple as that. You have to be satisfied that the home is a good one, and you need to gather whatever information you need to gather to be able to make that decision. Among other things, I always ask about the family situation (children, housing, dog accommodation, other family members who will interact with the pup), and also about their previous experience with both our breed and with dogs in general - so yes, the same sort of questions you were asking. I don't consider those questions to be too personal at all, and if I had anyone come back telling me that my questions were juvenile and too personal, then they would be told that they weren't suitable and to look elsewhere.
  15. I'm so sorry Dogslife Run free at the bridge, Chantie

  18. Maybe we need to all get on their Facebook page and complain....
  19. Were you able to put your puppies through Fordogs, or have you not needed to do it yet? I emailed them to check if my breeder registration was still current because I had trouble logging in - it took them a week to reply to me, but they confirmed that it was still current, and my last litter was 5 years ago. I have since been able to login - at least I think I have. I "login" and it presents me with the form to fill out for a puppy (doesn't give me any confirmation that my login was accepted, or information to show that I am now logged in, etc - just dreadful website development), but I haven't tried putting a puppy through yet as they're only 5 days old so I still have a while before I can discover if that part works. ETA: Actually I just discovered that I can also access the puppy registration form without even being logged in - so I have no idea what is actually meant to happen when you login.... It says to login to manage your account - but if you login, there are options provided to do anything with your account (or even show that you're logged in) Although maybe I'm not even being logged in - I'm trying to login with my registration number and guessing at my password. Tried the "can't remember my password" in case I'm using the wrong login details, and submitting that form just gives an error. I've just tried logging in with deliberately false details, and I get sent to the puppy registration form again - my Lord, what an abortion of a website! I'm sure it actually worked 5 years ago, the process was simple from memory.
