  1. OMG I think I just died and went to heaven!! How cute is she!!
  2. Awesome! Congratulations! No brags for us at the moment, only had one show in the past 6 weeks and we were a feather duster that day (yesterday) Still, she had the best time and did all we could ask from her, so can't ask for more than that :D So, instead of a brag, here's some photos of "little" Nova, that we took yesterday - just over 9 months old and now weighing in at 40kg
  3. What's the definition of a business, though? Is a hobby breeder, who is not registered as a business still defined as a business under consumer law, or does it only apply to registered businesses?
  4. You don't have to sell them the pup as long as you give them their money back Cheers Lee Yes - although I have heard differing opinions about that as well - but, regardless, she's talking about not selling the pup and NOT giving their money back - that's what I'm questioning the legality of.
  5. I was just thinking - can the breeder even legally do that (refuse to sell them the pup, but keep the deposit)? Isn't one of the things often mentioned as a downside to taking deposits is that, as a breeder, if you change your mind on a buyer it's too bad if you've taken a deposit from them, as you are still legally obliged to sell them a pup?
  6. So, if the murmur is still there at 12 weeks she will refund, but if the murmur is gone she will keep the deposit, but still not sell them the puppy??? Edited cause I mucked up an emoticon code :insert rolly eyed man directed at myself:
  7. If there were no customs issues, then I would do that in an instant, but I'm not willing to take the risk of purchasing a product that I may not end up being able to get, not after what Canine Health Services just went through.
  8. I would also be interested to hear if anyone has tried the PetzLife product. Running low on my plaque off, which is working wonderfully well, but I can't afford to keep using it at the high price that Troy have put on it - they're charging almost triple the price
  9. Good! I'm glad they are going to pursue it in whatever way they are able to I hope they are able to get their deposit back with minimal fuss and find a trustworthy, ethical breeder. I sincerely hope they aren't put off of all breeders because of this one's actions. Too right, Jed!
  10. I'll tell you if Neo ever grows a brain, if you tell me if Zeph ever does! I'm sure Nova - at 9 months - is far more mentally mature than Neo, who is about to turn 3  She's already totally running rings around him! My poor boy, God love him!
  11. That was great! Thanks for posting it :)
  12. Thanks! They smile a lot :) They're a very cheeky and happy breed :D Given what you've said, they certainly sound suitable for you - particularly with your interest and willingness to do training. Very intelligent, they thrive on training (and other mental activities). They love to be with their people and bond very strongly. Absolutely not a breed to stick in the backyard and ignore - that's when you get a problem dog - but a well bred dog that is included as a part of the family, and trained responsibly is just wonderful :)
  13. A well bred rottweiler isn't a drooly dog, they should have nice tight lips and flews :)
  14. I have a preference for girls, but having said that I still love my boys to bits, too! :)
  15. Nova howls in her sleep  Along with lots of yipping, whimpering, paddling feet, rolling eyes - she's probably the most active dreamer we've ever had.
  16. Yep, found the message - it said that Devonport Vets do prog testing for $60 and you get results back in an hour or so as they do it all on-site.
  17. Me! me! The really sad thing is though, I do the same thing every time I read that description! I second ellz's suggestion on giving him a "boost" as it were. Even do some ringing around of the vets if you can to see if any can do quick turn around prog testing - it might be that she's just not quite there yet. I have a funny feeling there is a vet in Devonport who can do quick prog tests, but I'm not sure - this is from my dreadful memory of someone else telling me about it when I was looking for a place to prog test Feonix. I'll look back through my emails and see if I can find that information.
  18. Yes, that was Diesel http://rememberdiesel.webs.com/
  19. I've sold numerous puppies to long distance homes (WA, NT, SA, Vic) - we may not get to actually meet the new home, but lots of talking and checking still goes on before we sell them one :) I really hope the breeder will be ethical and take responsibility for the poor love! We bring these souls into the world, and as far as I'm concerned we remain responsible for them for their entire lives.
  20. 'Have you actually contacted them to ask though? Being desexed and 4 years old would certainly not stop me from wanting to get a dog back that I bred, even if it meant paying for the flight. I would be incredibly upset if I ever found out that this happened to a dog that I bred, and that the rescue didn't at least ask me if I wanted to help!
  21. Well, I can honestly say that's the first time that a photo of puppy wee has made me cry!! That's just beautiful, k9angel :) I don't know - I see things in Nova that are so ridiculously Enya - the way that she smacks me with her paw and grumbles, the way that she sits in front of me, puts her front feet up on my lap and sits back on her bum in a really sloppy (and funny) way. And then there is the strangest likeness.... Many years ago Enya put one of her front feet through a window, severing her digital tendons and giving herself a flat foot which remained a source of intermittent lamness for the rest of her life. Since doing that, whenever Enya was waiting for her food bowl she would hold that foot off the ground. I would say "put your foot down", she would, and I would put her bowl down. Just recently Nova has started doing the exact same thing, with the same front foot. I tell her to put her foot down, and she does straight away. I don't know - I can pass everything else off as genetic (Nova is Enya's granddaughter), but the foot one gets me. Still, I just can't let myself really think too much of it, I'm not convinced that I'm not just trying to see things. As for seeing Enya, no - she's never visited me. I may have dreamed about her, but I rarely remember my dreams so I don't really have any memory of dreams involving her
  22. I log in as Anon because I want to log in as Anon - why it should be anyone else's business is beyond me  Besides, it's pretty typical for me to start reading a thread then get distracted by something else (even work sometimes! ) leaving the thread open, only to come back to it hours later. If I wasn't anon, then people might think I'm a reeeallllyyy slow reader, or something
  23. I flew with Feonix from Hobart to Melbourne and return last year - I arranged it directly through Virgin, the only contact I had with a pet transport company was to organise crate hire. If I had my own crate I wouldn't have needed to involve pet transport company at all.
  24. NO, but I think you're a riot! You said your dog was drenched in sweat - it was NOT drenched in sweat. I was laughing at your suggestion that a dog could be drenched in sweat, not at the dog being stressed, as you well know. But, go ahead and be a drama queen about it, I would expect nothing less from you. What's more, sedating a dog during flying is not something to take lightly and certainly not something that should be suggested to others as something to use offhand! It can cause serious problems and should only be used under veterinary advice. Frankly if a dog gets so stressed about flying that it needs sedation, then don't fly the dog!
