Awww, so cute! I love that they're both looking at the camera in the last picture.

Sorry to hear about Ruger, that's so sad and such a hard decision to face. We had the same decision to make with our Viszla but she was already quite old and so the decision was made to have her PTS. We'll be there and I'll probably bring a dip and something to drink.

This was Akira sleeping on my bed the other morning.

Week 29: Akira loves our upstairs balcony, and she spends a fair bit of time out there just looking around. I had trouble deciding and these ones were nice too: And this is the gorgeous view from our balcony that Akira was looking at:

Wow, when you compare the last family photo you can see how much she's grown. They grow up soooo fast!

Slight side question. My pup started losing her baby teeth at about three and a half months, and now at five months, when her mouth is opened it appears that she has all of her adult teeth. Can everything happen that fast?

Akira has had a kong since day dot and loves it. We originally put kibble in it, but that was gone too fast so we started stuffing it with harder things to get out. But she even got those out easily, so my sister bought a treat ball and we put kibble in that, which only falls out one piece at a time, and the kong gets peanut butter smeared inside it which takes a lot more work to get out.

Akira is a licker. She licks everything - the dishwasher, the shower, the walls, the table, the couch... if she's in the bathroom and someone's just gotten out of the shower, she'll lick the water off their legs. And she's a face kisser, which is my OH's fault. The first trick he taught her was "Kiss kiss" so whenever you make kissing noises, she licks your face. It's become such a habit that whenever she's put outside at night in her kennel, she won't settle until she's given both of us a kiss goodnight.

If I had my time over again, I would have had a crate for Akira from day dot. I never realised how important they can be for a pup and I'm planning on getting one to crate train my pup soon.

We love The Woofery: http://www.thewoofery.com.au/ They're based in Adelaide, but I'm pretty sure they post anywhere in Australia. Akira loves them, though she's not exactly picky so I'd take anything that she thinks is yummy as a grain of salt. They also stay fresh for quite a while.

This is what greeted me when I got home from spending an hour out doing the grocery shopping: My OH's $250 running shoes that he idiotically left on top of Akira's kennel. Luckily it was only the laces. Not sure who I'd rather give away at the moment: OH or Akira.

I'm still hoping that OH changes his mind on Sammies in the next few years, though the cream lappies are gorgeous too. However I am not getting another pup until Akira is at least 5 and I've forgotten what pups are like - she's enough of a hand full!! Next meetup August 1 - that's the day before I start my new job. I think we'll come down after obedience.

I took Akira to a different dog park than usual on Saturday. We had an old lady there who was going on about how her AWL black and white fluffy thing sits in the car when she goes shopping and TOOTS ON THE HORN when he thinks she's been in there long enough (how IRRESPONSIBLE can you GET?) and a couple with a Golden Retriever x Poodle pup who was 13 weeks old and so submissive that she would just roll over if Akira even came near. If my dog was that submissive, I wouldn't be taking them to a dog park for socialisation where you have no clue about what dogs are around and there's no one who knows what they're doing to control the situation. I'd be taking the pup to actual puppy classes where there's an instructor to help at least. It's a sure way to scar the poor pup for life, IMO.

Akira hasn't had an accident since she was 14 weeks old (she was really sick and threw up, and then later that day after going to the vet she "marked" in that same spot) and she's now 20 weeks. We keep our sliding door slightly open and she pushes it open whenever she wants to go outside. Hopefully she is truly toilet trained and there won't be any more accidents. While it wasn't a good thing that Akira wasn't well socialised with being inside as a pup, it's helped us in toilet training because she has always preferred being outside.

Week 28 Akira was a very good girl at footy on Saturday.

We're once again the same, no kids and no one we know has kids. However, my OH plays footy, so Akira goes to footy every Saturday and because there is junior soccer played in the next field over from the senior footy, we see plenty of kids on a regular basis. As a result, Akira is getting very good with kids and a lot of the kids that we see are becoming regulars who say hello every (second) week and come over for a pat.

My Sibe does the same thing. Akira knows the sound of OH's car (he has a Subaru WRX and it's a very distinctive sound). So whenever she hears it coming, she rushes outside to wait for him. However, someone two streets over also has a WRX, and there have been a few times that she's heard that one and run outside, even though she's been sitting next to OH at the time and his car is in the driveway.

Akira prefers to be outside. During the day she likes to be in, but as night falls she goes and lies down either in her kennel or on the cement outside. When she's let in in the morning, though, she makes a beeline for our bed.

Our old Hungarian Viszla was Pretorium Eliscia. We could have used Eliscia as her call name, but it got shortened to Elley because it was a lot easier for training.

OH's old roommate had a poodle x and Cooper could go up the stairs fine, but coming down he refused. So all of the doors upstairs were closed so he could only be on the landing area, and everyone went downstairs. He whined for half an hour and he was ignored, but after that he came downstairs by himself because he got too lonely. Re slipperiness, can you maybe put a stair runner or something like that on the stairs so they're not so slippery? My aunty used to have one made out of carpet on her stairs so it was easier for the dog to go up and down. We were lucky with Akira, we went up and down the stairs and she followed.

I haven't seen Snow Dogs. I really should see it, almost every time we take Akira out someone mentions it. The picture of the four pack is fantastic. :D
