Akira sleeps outside, so she doesn't bother us too much when she wakes up. Bedtime is normally around 9:30, but she'll put herself to bed earlier if she's tired. She'll be awake anywhere between 6:00am and 8:00am depending on how tired she is. For example, last night she put herself to bed early, so this morning when I let her in at 6:30 she was already up and playing. However Friday morning, she was still in her kennel asleep at almost 7am and she came inside and slept in her beanbag until 8am.

Oh yay, you got one of Akira running. My camera isn't fast enough to catch her. ;)

30/52 You've probably all seen this one already as it was taken at the Adelaide DOL meetup today.

Thanks Pug Hugger, edited with the correct name.

Mobile Dog Groomer S.australia

Our neighbour uses HydroDog Surrey Downs, and they love it. We're going to get them out to do Akira when it's a little warmer. ETA: I missed the Strathalbyn bit, but I'm sure they've got franchises around that area. -
I've added some photos too.

We're home. Akira is zonked - she's fast asleep on the floor, she didn't even make it to her beanbag and she slept the whole way home in the car. Sorry to everyone she more than likely annoyed - she's a little ratbag. The foster puppies looked like they were going so well after a while. And Ruger is absolutely beautiful. Also it was great to finally meet Jaana. :D Great day everyone.

I don't think Akira's ever met a pug before, but she does love most dogs. Like Dory, she'll play with anyone who will chase her. OH isn't coming today, so it's just me and the puppy.

We have an L-shaped lounge. Akira isn't allowed on it because it's leather and I'm petrified of it getting ruined, so normally OH is stretched out on the lounge, I'm sitting on the floor in front of the heater and Akira is in her beanbag somewhere nearby.

- Gus (RIP) came to my family to show me the joy of a well-trained dog. - Elley (RIP) came to my family to show me that the love of a dog is unconditional and that no matter how sick you are, you have to continue with the joy of life. - Cooby (RIP) was only with me for a short time, but was with my OH for a long time. She showed me that a scruffy mongrel dog can be special to someone, even if you don't understand how. She also taught me a lot about my OH. - Akira's reason for coming to me I'm still unsure about, because she's still a pup. But so far she's showed me what patience is and has brought me into the world of learning more about dogs. She has taught me to always buy from a registered breeder, because while someone may have the best intentions for their pups, they don't necessarily have the experience to successfully socialise a puppy. That was part of our reason for getting Akira too, and we said to family when we got her that she was practice for the future, as well as completing our family and making us aware of someone other than ourselves.

We'll be there no matter the weather. I'll already be soaked after obedience, and Akira loves the rain.

Akira tried to protect me from the vacuum cleaner tonight too. She is getting braver, normally she runs away in fear the instant it comes close.

I am so glad I have a dog who loves the rain after reading this thread.

I hope I won't be thought of as gender indifferent if I need a hysterectomy at some stage I have a Great Dane with a pretty pink collar - but often people still think she's a boy - because all big dogs are boys, right? loving all the photos, they are so cute Akira's colour is purple. OH didn't want her to be "too girly" with pink, so we chose purple instead. She still gets called a boy, though.

Look at this new photography blog! It's soooo cute! http://milasdaydreams.blogspot.com/ I think my favourite is the "Surfer Girl".

I'm considering buying the x-large too... should probably run it by OH first.

At training on Sunday, we got told to make our dogs drop, but they had to drop without sitting first. Akira is always sitting before I make her drop, and so she wouldn't drop at all on Sunday - she just got all excited and started nosing and pawing my hand because it had food in it. Does anyone have any tips on how to teach her to drop from a stand? Everything I've found so far has them sitting first.

Some doggy peoplle get ticked off when they have to clean it off their shoes too - I'm one of them. I clean up after my dog (luckily for me, she almost never does a poo when we're out, she'll hold on until we get home) but it ticks me off when others don't do the same and I step in it. Some of us wander around with our eyes closed.

Monthly Expenses For Larger Breeds...
whiskedaway replied to Nadine83's topic in General Dog Discussion
Puppies cost heaps when you first get them. Food probably about $40/month but we buy in bulk. Kennel and/or crate is a one-off cost (assuming they don't destroy it) of about $200. Collar and lead (we're on our second collar and third lead due to destruction) are about $20 each. Car harness (we're on the second because the first was outgrown) about $30 each. Toys... no clue what I've spent but I try and get cheap ones because Akira destroys them. Vet bills are where a puppy gets expensive. So far we've spent $670 on vet bills in the three months we've had her - three vaccinations, microchipping and an emergency visit when she was throwing up - but we still have desexing to go and that's another $300 roughly. Completely agreed. Two pairs of $250 Nike sneakers, two pairs of slippers, a jacket, a bra, the surround sound cables... That adds up too! -
Oh that looks like fun. SACA Park is in Kilburn, isn't it?

Attach it to the outside of the gates. Even attached to the outside of a gate, shade cloth would not last in my yard and I suspect it'd be the same for Tilly. I've seen the damage that my pup did to a couple of pool chairs that were on the other side of the pool fence at OH's parents place after she stuck her nose through the gaps.
