Waiting For A Puppy This Thread Is For You
whiskedaway replied to jess live die's topic in Puppy Chat
Oh Pandii, he's gorgeous! -
I just watched it then (taped it on IQ) and it was so good. Very interesting how they might be able to tell which genes cause diseases thanks to the dog gene pool being a lot smaller.

Akira's a water baby, so she will probably be in it. I am so lucky my entire SS present arrived in time. I am bringing a chicken platter. -
How Long Can I Leave The Bandage On
whiskedaway replied to Rebanne's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Our Vizsla had the same problem, she unfortunately had to have it stitched twice before it finally stopped bleeding. -
I'm taking this to mean you know who the owner is? If so, get them to sign her over to you.

I love the raining photo, Helen. It looks amazing. This is an older shot (would have been taken at the beginning of 2009) and it's once again from the Kodak Z1012IS.

Haha, that's awesome! Our pack hunting is normally me going "Kill it, it's pissing me off!" OH swatting the fly at Akira and Akira gulping it down as quick as she can. Your two are sooo cute. ;)

If anyone has paper plates, can they bring them? I'll bring serviettes, but I don't have any paper plates. -
When we got Akira she HATED the leash. For us, because she's so food motivated, the thing that worked was one person holding the leash and the other in front of her, coaxing her along with food. Because she followed the food (and got STACKS of rewards for one step, then two steps, then a few steps) she forgot that someone was holding the lead. However, one thing to be aware of is that we got so excited just by her walking on lead that we rewarded pulling and all other sorts of behaviours. Now we have a massive problem with pulling, and it's possible we could have nipped it in the bud at twelve weeks old, rather than still be fighting with it at nine months.

What've You Done With Your Photography This Year?
whiskedaway replied to iltby's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
I've just been learning, learning, learning. I don't have a decent camera, though I have a new battery coming for the GOOD point and shoot (the next camera up from my p&s is a DSLR) and I'm hoping to get a DSLR next year. My main accomplishment has been with editing, because while I've always been decent with Photoshop, most of my work has been for web rather than editing photos. I still have a LONG way to go, obviously, but I'm learning. Best photo for the year is definitely this one: -

I haven't even thought about it yet. I will probably do savory - no obedience in the morning anymore so I have PLENTY of time on Sundays. -
Thundershirt For Dogs With Fear/anxiety Etc
whiskedaway replied to helen's topic in General Dog Discussion
If you find any difference with pulling, let me know and I'll give one a shot. Akira is awful on lead. Actually, I should probably try one anyway and see if there's any improvement with her fear of men. Perhaps your dog just needs to be lead trained? Would you like me to list everything we've tried and what our obedience school has said about Akira's pulling? Even THEY have given up on her, yet she can walk perfectly on leash in our yard because there's nothing to overstimulate her. I am certain her problem is excitement, hence why trying to calm her down would probably be very useful. -

Akira decided to sit in the middle of the grass in the rain last night. Damn water-loving Spitz dogs!

The problem with the Tom Tom is it almost always takes you through the city, which is a bit of a pain. -
How Fussy Is Your Oh Pertaining To Dogs Inside The House
whiskedaway replied to Moselle's topic in General Dog Discussion
My OH is a clean freak, yet has no problems with dogs inside the house. He'd prefer that our girl stayed inside with us when we're home, rather than go outside by herself like she is often prone to do. -
Road Trip To Tunundra Getting Closer.
whiskedaway replied to Bilbo Baggins's topic in General Dog Discussion
The road between Mt Pleasant and Williamstown is Williamstown Road, which turns into Crick Mills Road closer to Williamstown. It's well sign posted. The Barossa roads are better than the Mount Pleasant side - the road between Williamstown and Lyndoch is lovely, and so is the road between Lyndoch and Tanunda, but be aware that the speed limits have been dropped recently and that it tends to have a lot more traffic so is a bit of a slower run. It's all one lane from Williamstown to Tanunda but there's places to overtake on the Williamstown-Lyndoch road and there's an overtaking lane just after Rowland Flat on the way to Tanunda. For someone who doesn't know the roads, though, I'd take the Lyndoch-Tanunda road slower because there are two slow bends that look like you can do them fast, but you really can't. -
Elbie, Hoover, Dodge & Friends!

I did the same thing. I want dogs that I know in the calendar (because I'll be buying a calendar) not ones I don't know. -

Lurking as usual... I think this is the first time I've posted in this thread actually. But you're right, people are just sick of the same conversations. Excellent advice has been given, but unfortunately she keeps looking for differing opinions. And I voted for myself. I agree, you don't want too many lappies, even though I love them. I picked one dog per owner, and a range of different breeds. Actually, I probably voted for my own breed less than I voted for the Akitas! -

+ 3 It's also a LOT faster. Tanunda's a lovely place I'm sure you'll love it. And make sure you stop at the Williamstown bakery - that's my hometown, and they do the BEST steak pies and carrot cake. :D -
I am so glad Akira is a waterbaby and thinks the wetter it is, the better it is.

Oh I used to have two Vizslas. Beautiful dogs. You should have no problems at Para with it. Will hopefully see you around to get puppy cuddles.
