Completely agreed. If he's had a Husky x before, a Lappie is a piece of cake. And mine ADORES people - she's the first to go and beg cuddles off every stranger she meets.

So do I. x 3 but I had to hunt through the forums to find another link when I changed to windows 7 as it didn't like my older version If that's Tommyspazz's problem, here's the link to it: http://www.lottobreakers.com.au/dogsoft/ -
Training/obedience/agility Club Adelaide
whiskedaway replied to jacqui835's topic in General Dog Discussion
I go to Para Districts Dog club and do obedience and agility. Obedience is Sunday mornings, agility is Friday evenings and there is also flyball on monday evenings. Para have an "if it works, use it" policy - too bad nothing works on the naughty Husky. They have a whole range of different breeds of dog that go there. -
Akira STILL manages to squeeze into the gap between the couch and the wall. I don't get it how she manages it.

I use Dogsoft on Windows 7 with no problems. -
I had Halo lying fast asleep on her back like that yesterday cradled in the crook of my arm, and then I went upstairs and found Akira fast asleep on the bed in the same position.

Hurricane works well, they don't tend to do things slowly, do they? With Akira it's like a storm has come through the house at times with the speed she races in and out. Maybe even a blizzard of Huskies, because that fur is like being in a blizzard!

Maybe eastern part of NSW but certainly not all of it. Also have only found a few in SA that use it.Mostly bigger ones such as royal though. Yeah SA hardly ever uses it unfortunately.

Dogsvic New Website - Appeared Today
whiskedaway replied to d_dambe's topic in General Dog Discussion
Sway ... SA schedules are available to anyone via their website .. as is Qld , ACT, Tassie and until now Vic. I think it's a great idea to share the information .. There's no login section at all on the SA website. It's annoying for those of us coming from interstate to not be able to find the schedules online - we'll have to rely on others to give us the info we need. -
Did the vet tell you this at the time she was desexed? Yes. We thought she was coming in and we said we thought that. Vet checked her over and said she wasn't as close as we thought (we thought she was a week or two off) and it was closer to a month and it'd still be safe to desex her. She had been booked in for a month and was 5.5 months. She came through the surgery absolutely fine. We don't actually see that vet anymore.

My Husky is a tart. There's no other way to describe her. She's always sticking her bum in the boys' faces and they follow her around. However, she's desexed. The vet reckons she was less than a month off coming into her first season when she was desexed, so maybe the hormones have stuck around? Anyway, who else has a tart for a dog?

I have a feeling it might be a face washing of Spitz, because Akira and Halo are just as bad - particularly if OH has just gotten home from footy training!

;) OMG Gayle, I was trying so hard not to laugh at work reading that!

I just added that option. This is a statement that particularly interests me. To be honest I'm not sure I really understand it, other than, I guess, in a rare breed. Can you elaborate? Well, my lappie is a rare breed - as common as lappies are on the forum, there's still only 400 or so in Australia. She would have to do extremely well in the show ring and be considered by other breeders to be sound of type and health before I would consider it. I believe that you breed to improve the gene pool - remove health issues in the breed (not that there are that many for lappies) and try to get as close to the breed standard as possible while still allowing them to work as they were intended to - and so I wouldn't breed any of my dogs unless they're as good as they can possibly be and them having pups can improve the breed in some way. Not really sure if that makes sense at all.

Dog Breeds Associated With Brands Or Products
whiskedaway replied to Dxenion's topic in General Dog Discussion
Whenever I think of Supercoat, I think of the Samoyed puppy on the Puppy packs. Doesn't matter if I see a bag of adult food or cat food, I still remember the Sammie puppy. -
I don't think I'll ever breed, however if any of my dogs were considered exceptional I might consider it.
-
Completely agreed. Was out the front with Halo and Akira the other day and Halo had to go and welcome (and get pats from) EVERY person who walked past. Akira ignored all of them except for the kids.

Waiting For A Puppy This Thread Is For You
whiskedaway replied to jess live die's topic in Puppy Chat
What is it with men? My OH is the same - Akira STILL bites him (though she's doing it less now that Halo is here) and he lets Halo bite him too. I told him the other day that if she bites a judge because he's not taught her bite inhibition I will be VERY angry. :D -
Happy Birthday Bronte!

Hitting The Ring For The First Time
whiskedaway replied to angelsophie's topic in General Dog Discussion
Halo has her debut on Friday. I'm starting to get a bit nervous - she's become a monster when there's food around, but will stack nicely without it. So no food for Miss Halo until after she's finished. Hopefully she'll behave herself. -
I really like the second one, Evolving.
-
Yes, Akira's hair is everywhere. She's still blowing coat and has been since October. Halo always has some of her fur on her, a lot of the time it's in her mouth from grabbing Akira. Normally I edit the stray hairs out but I forgot on that one, haha. Can't wait until winter so Akira doesn't lose as much hair anymore!

What Do You Think Of This Rspca Ad?
whiskedaway replied to SkySoaringMagpie's topic in General Dog Discussion
So they are not selling anything not even an idea? No, that's not what I mean. They are buying visibility and conversation, and probably making adopting a rescue dog "sexier", which is not a brand-specific message. It's a pretty risque ad for a shelter (or any charitable organisation) and that's a really quick and often cheap way to temporarily raise the profile of an enterprise, but doesn't generate lasting brand affinity. The other thing about the ad is that it can easily be miscontributed to another brand due to the fact that they don't really push their brand name. As has been said, registered breeders are getting enquiries from the ad and I'd say other shelters would be too. It's not exactly an effective ad in terms of making their brand name stand out - if you want to do that you say the brand at the start and end of the ad (and the middle as well if its long enough), and preferably both visual and spoken. That's why the ANZ Bankworld ad doesn't work so well - you hear AND see Bankworld at the very start, but I don't think they actually say ANZ at all so you remember Bankworld and not ANZ.
