  1. Oooooooooooooooh how embarrassing - I drooled on the little silky dogs *mortified - quickly hauls a Newfie's sleepy head over and places it gently beside the pool of Brooke Drool* There - now no one will know it was me!? Off to have a refill of that mulled wine!!
  2. YAY - movie night - what about *Call of the Wild*? Loved the book but now thinking about it am not 100% sure there actually IS a movie - anyone know???? Marley and me is a good choice but I think we may need something even lighter - would love Jed to wake up to sounds of peals of Dol laughter and happy waggy-tailed dogs....how about the Benji movies or Beethoven? Actually Best In Show is definitely Grownups Only but I thought it was Very funny! (Popping crispy fresh popcorn with just the right amount of butter on it and while I am waiting - those Krispy Kremes are looking pretty darn tasty - and all calorie-free in this waiting room!)
  3. I just got a crate off K9Pro and it is fabulous! Very very strong but light too. I love that it is canvas and mesh so I can let the dogs see out of it or make it all dark and cozy for them - great price too!!
  4. The oil burner wafting its gentle magic about....the great food....the hot drinks...the very very naughty COLD drinks!.......the poems...........the singing...............the snuggley-ness of having so many wonderfully (magically) well-behaved dogs all gathered here with us.........I am sure that Jed is able to feel the unity among DOL here at this time and in this special place. We are all doing what we can in the real world as well but this seems like an oasis to just catch our breath and focus our combined energies on Jed's healing. Off to re-light my candle and have something wholesome for lunch (just to compensate for all my over-indulgence here this past week!)
  5. Do you mean when OH is with me or when I am alone with the doggies??? LOL If I am being sternly watched the dogs travel in crates. If I am blissfully free from supervision they travel in the back seat in their harnesees
  6. Ummm *trying to look nonchalant* Are Jacks OK for the Newfies to catch like flies??? Actually in this waiting room - thanks to Harminee- dogs fur is miraculously cleaned up as soon as it sheds - chocolate has no calories - and even those few brave souls drinking Slippery Nipples never become messily drunk - so I am thinking the dogs can chew and gnaw on anything with no damage done, right Harminee???? Jed - we are using this waiting room to keep our own spirits up so we can continue to nurture you from the overflow of positive energy this room generates. (Plus we now have fresh sliced fruit to go in the chocolate fondue so that may tempt you to get better even quicker!)
  7. *over chocolate - is that even possible?* Dear Jed - candles lit and positive vibes being beamed your way. We are comfortable and content here waiting for you surrounded by dogs, books, great food and games and we can focus just on sending you best wishes and healing light with no messy real life issues (like cleaning up muffin crumbs and dog slobber) to bother us.
  8. Dear Jed - we are in no rush - we are all happy to sit here and lend you our strength and support as you do all the really hard work of healing. Take the time you need, be gentle on yourself and know that we are not going anywhere! *Settles back in a comfy chair leaning against a big Newf with her little dog in her lap and gets out her battered copy of The Four Agreements to re-read* Loving all the healthy soup guys but is there any Black Forest Chocolate about??* I think we should definitely smuggle Chi-Chi into the waiting room in her bright little coat - anyone up to sneaking her past the guards???
  9. Chicken and camembert pies, party poppers, all these great board games - JANE - do come and see us! we are all so happy to hear your good news!!
  10. I am so very thrilled Jed. You are a woman of courage and strength and an obviously huge heart. I was going to borrow some tissues but thankfully there are lots of small silky dogs here in your waiting room who are great at licking up tears *grabs a passing pretty dog and buries her red sniffley nose in its fur* I will tell myself that it must be some of my donated blood helping you get strong and get back to all those who love you!
  11. They are beautiful flowers Greytmate and really do add a dash of je ne sais quoi to the waiting room!
  12. Wow - the songs (and the singing) were way better than I had even hoped for - that was just magical guys! Ohhhhhhhhh I love waiting here - all our other differences and pettiness forgotten in the face of our respect and caring for a true dog-lover and a great person. (I also love that it is full of chocolate, muffins, dogs, songs and warmth AND even if I sleep snuggled with my dogs I NEVER wake up with bed hair OR dog hair in my nostrils!!)
  13. Dear Harminee thanks for cleaning up the room - that Newfie drool needs one of those Sham-Wow cloths!!! I am so glad Jed is improving gradually and I am thinking of her many, many times a day! Karaoke - umnmmmmmmm not really my strong suit but I guess Karaoke always needs listeners right!? Settles in with a big BIG mug of Gloria Jean's extra chocolatey hot chocolate and prepares to be entertained by DOL's talented singers!! BTW - every song must feature the name JED somewhere in the lyrics right!?
  14. Dear Jed -I am so very glad to hear that there is a little improvement. Baby steps will bring you back to us. Ummmm who left the Guide to the Goat Keeping..Something on the floor? The Newfies have been patiently waiting but with all the warmth from the candles there has been a little bit of a Drool Explosion and now Jed's wonderfully instructional book is basically sealed in Newfie Mucous!!! *quickly tries to dry the book off over the candles which are still burning brightly*
  15. Great flowers - always so cheering and optimistic! Do yo think anyone is going to notice that we have all smuggled our dogs in to the waiting room with us? Perhaps if we can use some of the Newfies to look like rugs we could arrange the smaller dogs artistically like scatter cushions on them??
  16. You are all so knowledgeable and I totally respect your opinions. All I know is letting me loose at a dog show is like letting a kid loose in a candy store. No matter what dogs I have I always see at least three other breeds to add to my *One Day* list!
  17. sending prayers and light to you Jane and am still helping organise friends, family and other doglovers into donating blood.
  18. Like so many others, Jed has been both a comfort and an inspiration to me over the years on DOL. My OH and I have both been to donate blood and will be encouraging all our dog-loving friends to do the same as well as donating cash.
  19. K9 Pro - well worth the trip and you won't regret it!
  20. Have to agree with Cockerlover on this one! My dogs love me unconditionally, don't care if i know who Justin Bieber is AND are delighted to be seen with me in public! Go the Dogs, I say! (wish I had saved all my kids' pocket money over the years so I could have truly indulged my dogs!!!!)
  21. Please PM me the number too if you don't mind!?
  22. Yeah I have emailed too with no reply ....any ideas people?
  23. Just a question - do you think you could use it directly on very smelly doggies? I hate the doggy colognes but my girl is really doggy smelling and this sounds perfect!
  24. and I am getting confused. I have heard that a puppy absolutely needs to be socialised even before they have finished their vaccinations at 16 weeks. So I assume that means taking them out and about but ideally carrying them? Then other experts say that there is a *fear period* between three - four months where great care should be taken that nothing frightens or even startles the puppy at this age. So...how do you safely socialize a puppy aged under 16 weeks without risking something unexpected scaring him?
  25. Did anyone else notice the reporter's name was Emily Barker!!?? And yes the guy barking - made my night!!!!
