  1. 3 weeks ago my 6 month old amstaff Juno was diagnosed with hip dysplasia. After a visit to a specialist surgeon my partner and I decided to go ahead with TPO surgery. She is in for round 1 on her left side today and her right side will be done in January. I know she is in good hands but it doesn't make the wait any easier. I was wondering if any other DOlers have owned or known a pup who has undergone TPO surgery? If anyone has tips on keeping a pup quiet during recovery I'd love to hear them! Most people think I'm mad for spending so much on surgery for her so I'm glad there is a place I can come where there are other 'mad' people too :D
  2. Juno likes to use Zola as a pillow
  3. Our 10 yr old stafford has had the odd habit off licking the air and jumping and snapping at things only she can see since she was about 5. You can actually see her eyes following something before she jumps and snaps the air! Mainly sits there flicking her tongue though. We've always had a feeling it may have something to do with anxiety, though she is very calm while she does it. I think this thread helps explain her behaviour! It always weirds out new visitors to our house and they always try and come up with theories as to why she does it. I've always been the one to say I think we'll never know but I think displacement behaviour seems to fit! Last night she started doing it when she was sitting in her chair with my OH. She had just given him lots of kisses and when he said enough she sat next to him and started licking away at the air. Eventually she lay down and went to sleep, supporting the calming behaviour theory! Very interesting thread!
  4. Loving everyones photos! Keep them coming! This thread bring me much laughter throughout the work day! Stella chilling with her dad
  5. Zola the meditating Stafford A friend of ours asked us if we wanted to take our girls to a pet blessing held by tibetan monks, we thought why the hell not, nice day out with the fur kids! Took this photo in our yard afterwards.
  6. Great Idea for a thread, is there anything cuter than a sleeping puppy? During Juno's first week home, fell out of bed and kept on sleeping! When she was a little bubba she used to do the classic bully frog dog lie but would always cross her legs behind her like a little lady, Sometimes tuck her tail under her bottom too, shattered I never got a good picture of it Mimicing her favourite stafford
  7. One of my friends is looking at getting a stafford pup soon so curious me jumped on the website to of the breeder she is in contact with to check out their dogs. I was surprised and a little horrified to see them advertising themselves as breeders of English Staffordshire Bull Terriers! I sent them an email correcting their mistake which I'm sure they won't appreciate!
  8. :D Looks like the pug is waiting it's turn "there better be something left when I get to the front of the line!"
  9. I think all the dogs in this thread are GORGEOUS! The nerve of some people really, they don't think twice to make a nasty comment about a dog but bet they wouldn't dare tell someone their child is ugly. or tell you that they don't agree on heritage "No your ugly child definitely looks like it's really george and debbie's" (No offence to any George and Debbie's out there I'm sure your children are beautiful!) I guess though you really have to be a dog person to understand the fur kid bond My OH and I really want to add a mini bull terrier to our pack down the road so I guess I'll have to get used to other peoples opinions then. :D
  10. A few more of my girls. My OH is surrounded by estrogen at home all 3 pretty girls bat dogs pretty old girl Juno gettng her strut on Juno and Stella's first cuddle nawwww! zzzzzzz m m my bone zzzzzzz I'm inspired to buy a new camera and learn about editing after looking at everyones pics! 11. I love photo threads, they always give me warm fuzzies :D A few of my favourites from my work computer of the 2 older girls. I'll upload a couple of my more recent favourites at home. Stella just looking cute! Zola The 2 girls just haa-nnging out Quality is not too bad for an old camera phone
  12. What a beautiful story! Gave me little happy tears watching. I had a look at their website but couldn't see anymore about the little family. I hope they're all in their forever homes now! I hope Birdie and Chester got to stay together
  13. Thanks for the advice guys. The breeder has been keeping me up to date with wormings etc and this has been done. She will also be visiting he vet shortly for her vacciations. She'd eaten her brekky not long before the photo's were taken. I will be getting new photos this weekend so will see if there is a difference. Thanks for your concern.
  14. I can't believe I only just found this thread! The first weekend in August we are going to pick up my new baby girl! She's an American Staffy called Juno. It's been a long wait and I cannot wait to give her hugs, kisses and belly rubs for the first time! I have gotten a lot of photos from her breeder so will try not to post too many right away! I should be getting new ones this weekend also as the most recent ones I have were taken 2 weeks ago. 2 days old 2 weeks old 4 weeks old
  15. Our Staffy is constintly licking and eat things only she can see flying around in the air. She'll just sit there happily licking away at the air and all of sudden she'll take a leap and snap at some invisible goodness. It fascinates a lot of our visitors as they try and figure out why she does it. Some say attention but she'll happily sit in a room by herself and do it. Not that unusual but still very cute, our other girl Stella( American bulldog x Mastiff) is quite the frequent dreamer. She makes the cutest muffled barks in her sleep and you can see her paws twitching! She also likes to tap you with her paw when she's not getting the attention she wants.
