When Juno was probably about 4-5 months old we were watching an episode of Seinfeld where Elaine is having problems with a neighbours dog barking all the time. Our Tv had multiple speakers set up at that point and Juno was checking them all out trying to find the dog! She went behind the tv trying to figure it out if it was there and circled every speaker then rechecked everything to see where it had moved too! She was convinced it was somewhere in our lounge room! I haven't had the same reaction with any other dog just that particular episode.(Happened again the next time we watched it just not to the same extent!) Earlier this year I had some time off with Juno while she healed from surgery for HD. We got up every morning around 9-9.30 (Yes it was the life!) and watched the Zoo. She would wake me up at pretty much the same time every morning so we could watch it Apart from that she reacts to puppy noises and one night was quite fascinated by Charlie Sheen! My sisters cat LOVES the news. He is a serious little mister

Need Some Help Here, Please
SezzNJunebug replied to noisymina's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
So sorry to hear about your loss My childhood dog passed away about 6 years ago in August while I was living at my dads farm. He was 17 and I was 18 at the time. The next January I moved down to Melbourne but whenever I went to visit dad on the farm I always expected Jacky boy to come trotting up the driveway to greet me like he did when I got off the school bus.It does take awhile before you stop looking for them -
Absolutley brilliant! I'm so sending this to my sister friend who thinks bulldogs are dumb! Love the rocking horse and the crate!
-
Seen that one too! Very cute! When I was in primary school one of my friends had a bull terrier and I was absolutely in love with him! I used to draw him all the time

I'm lucky and work near home so we go for walks on my lunch break and after work. I'm as hooked to it as they are now! Breaks the day up for me too. If I get home and OH says he has taken them for their walk/run without me I always say "but I haven't been for mine" and we'll usually go some where else. :D I'm really not a morning person but if I didn't get to spend my lunch break with them we'd go for a morning walk too.

No phrase I hate more than 'It's just a dog' I hope you find your grandbubba soon I have liked your FB page and will share it

For you and for your little boy. My little girl was diagnosed with Hip Dysplasia last November. She was only 5 months old at the time though so she underwent 2 rounds of surgery. The surgery she had done unfortunately is only performed on dogs that haven't reached maturity so I don't think there is much I can add to the advice that has already been given but I wanted to send my best. I hope you find something to help your little man. Nothing worse than seeing your little one in pain

Under What Circumstance Can You 'sue' Someone
SezzNJunebug replied to BMAK's topic in General Dog Discussion
I guess I find it sad because that could happen to anyone really! It would only take 1 second for your dog to get away from you to startle someone! Even if your dog is under control 99% of the time. As mentioned before we don't know the full details, dog could of been wildly out of control or the lady could of lost a lot of money through not working. I really really hope we don't get as bad as that last story either! It makes me sad how greedy people get Edit to add:What an awful thing to go through Aidan2 Sorry to put your thread so off topic -
Under What Circumstance Can You 'sue' Someone
SezzNJunebug replied to BMAK's topic in General Dog Discussion
Is it just me or does anyone else find it sad that even something purely accidental and out of your control could cost you so much? Why do so many people have a sense of entitlement these days! I agree with Aidan2. Best to avoid these situations altogether -
x2 It's very very sad that even some exhibitors and judges have no idea what the breed standard is! I can understand ignorance from the general public but from people who are suppose to know the breed
-
As Keira and Pheonix already mentioned the general public these days really doesn't know what an amstaff should look like. An amstaff should be the perfect balance of power and agility. Nice lean muscle like an athlete! And your boy is still a baby, geez talk about pressure to grow up! (From the other people not you!) My girl didn't grow much in height from around 8 months I think and has slowly started fill out over the past couple of months. I don't know if I have any good photos of Juno at 7 months sorry. Your boy looks good for his age to me! A real cutie! If you have any more pics we'd love to see them in the amstaff thread :D

My 2 girls love it too. OUr youngest wasn't interested in Kongs until we got onto the peanut butter. Our old Stafford, who is absolutely food obsessd and I've never seen her turn down any food ever, pulls the funniest face if you offer her peanut butter to lick off your finger or a spoon. She scrunches up her face, pulls her head away fast and backs away, very much Get that away from me! Yet when she realises what it is she's into it the same as any food. She's straight into it in a kong, just if you offer it to her! It's so strange to see her react to food that way, she's all about eat now worry about what it was later!

Dammit! Me and Juno would be in on that too! It's the photographer and costumes that have me waiting until 2012's competition! Maybe have a look in the pitbull and amstaff threads and see if there is someone who might give it a crack? hopefully you'll find someone! Edited: A-B-C Will post pics If I get some Merch! Absolutely in love with all their products! Juno's b'day is soon so maybe a present for her and one for me for being an awesome mum :D

x2 How could it possibly be heaven without animals. Doesn't make sense to me Animals are incapable of 'sin against god' so why would they be left behind?
-
x 2. I'd be telling them to settle their debts or move out. How bloody selfish of them Thinking of themselves and what they want, not about their kid, their house mate or this poor poor dog they clearly wouldn't be able to provide for. If they're in debt and have a child to support why would they even consider it? I guess it's a lot more complicated than that seeing as you said that you all work together Good luck in convincing them against it

I think I need to buy t-shirts for me and Juno! Love the designs! How is everyone going with ideas etc? I honestly wouldn't know where to start! Finding a costume, doing make up! It would be so much fun though :D

That's just precious! and such healthy looking litter, you must be proud :D Recently, the pregnant sister of a friend had to take her Saint Bernard to the vet for ultra sounds as they were really worried she was pregnant. She'd been acting really sooky and smoochy, I think they said she even began to lactate a little! Turned out to be a sympathy phantom pregancy, bless (Thank goodness because they had no idea how she would of gotten pregnant! Biggest sigh of relief!)

Juno aka Junebug, snugglebug was born on the first of June. I didn't really think about her taking after already known Juno's though! If she does take after one please let it be the goddess! (bolts for vet with Juno in arms) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0467406/ Juno movie review

What Do You Do When You Can't Agree?
SezzNJunebug replied to Kirty's topic in General Dog Discussion
Agreed! OH and I went to our first ever dog show yesterday for a sticky beak and had the best day meeting new doggies and talking with their owners about them. My OH is really quite reserved around new people so it was awesome to see him right into it too! We had so much fun learning about new breeds and their quirks but at the end of the day it was confirmed that we really are smitten with our breed! WOuld be a good opportunity to see how your OH interacts with the breeds as well. I honestly got so much more out of my day at a show than I ever dreamed! -
Hi Coogie! I was just as shocked as you when my Juno was diagnosed with tonsilitis when she was still a little pup! I had absolutely no idea they could get it either but as my vet said they have tonsils therefore they get it! She has only had it the once, I think she was about 4-5months old? I took her to the vet because she had woken me up two nights in a row making little gagging noises. I thought it sounded like she was trying to bring something up. When the vet had a look she had a red swollen throat so the gaging was just her trying to clear her throat. SHe was on antibiotics for a week-10days which cleared it up and she hasn't had any more problems. Good luck, I hope poor Alfie is feeling better soon

A couple of months ago I was walking my amstaff Juno at a quiet park. A couple with a little girl and a lab came up behind us, dogs said g'day, little girl said hello to Juno. The man asked what breed she was and said she was a really nice dog. When I said Amstaff he replied "Oh so you just feed her a baby a day" This one caught me off guard I guess because she'd been so well behaved when the little girl patted her. He meant it as a joke but this one stung a little As previous mentioned all I can do is make sure she's an excellent breed ambassador and show them what an amstaff should be!

Does Anyone Have A Dog Pyjama Pattern?
SezzNJunebug replied to SezzNJunebug's topic in General Dog Discussion
Thanks for your replies everyone! Very much appreciated. I'm getting a little collection of patterns together now! I've been doing some more pondering and planning today and have decided for an easy start out weekend project I'm going to make her a little polar fleece coat to get myself back into the swing of sewing than I'm going to tackle something with sleeves! I've recently moved back to the country and I am enjoying having extra time to get into little projects. And projects for my girls are even more fun I will post pics if I'm sucessful! -

Does anyone know where I can find out more details on this show? Where it is etc? I've never been to a show but I've been thinking about checking one out for awhile now. Shepparton is only 30 mins from me so seems like a good opportunity to check out some gorgeous dogs in action! Would this be a worthwhile show to go have a look at? Please excuse my show ignorance :D
