Last week I came home to find my copy of 'don't shoot the dog' lying on my bed with the top corner of the pages chewed. Poor Juno, even though she barely chewed any of our things as a pup she was the first to come to mind. But alas the bite marks weren't big enough for Juno and she wasn't the one lying on the bed all afternoon. Twas the cat! What an evil genius, he nearly comitted the perfect crime. Living in a house with a SBT and an Amstaff who's going to think it was the cat! Don't shoot the dog? Dog's not the problem

Beautiful story.I have a little something in my eye. -
I have to say that the habit of shortening/adding 'y' to things does my OH's head in. He's Canadian and after being confronted with numerous Australian shortenings like postie etc, he asked me witheringly if Australians called the plumber the plumbie :p Agree! They sound like little cute rockstars to me  I guess this is more of a pet name than a breed nick name but my OH calls Zola his little Staff Bull Tez I think it's cute I call her a Stafford. It sounds more proper and she is a proper little lady :D I refer to Juno as an Amstaff but then I usually have to say the full name for people around here I guess they are only used to byb staffy and mixes.

Every time I read this article it changes! This one says that it was neighbourhood kids and the woman came outside firing. It also says that the puppy didn't attack at all and that the puppy was just a victim. This article certainly explains the bizzarre shoooting spree description http://www.examiner.com/dogs-in-national/wife-accidentally-kills-husband-while-trying-to-shoot-puppy This story just gets more bizzarre the more I read

"The dead man's son said the children were taken inside and his father picked the dog up. It was then that police say Betty Walker fired twice, hitting the dog once and her husband once in the chest." he was holding it, I thought he was holding onto it!Incredibley over the top that some news articles are calling it a "bizarre shooting spree". 2 shots a spree? What a sad sad story for all involved

So precious! Looking right at home :D -
I've loved all animals since I was a little girl. I have enjoyed all the different kinds of bonds I've had with animals from my potty calf and lambs to my pony and cats and have taken them for what they are, all unique. There is something really special about the bond you form with your dog though. ETA: I couldn't live without a dog where as I can get by fine without other animals

Overexcitement Around Other Dogs
SezzNJunebug replied to ruthless's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Thanks I'll check this website out too! I have a bit of a dilemma. I can only afford to buy one book at the moment. Juno's main problem is getting excited and losing focus(I should say my problem lol!) Would anyone reccommend click to calm or control unleashed over the other? -

hahaha very cute!! I have noticed Juno copies Spats sometimes. She thinks he's pretty cool  Spats will jump up on the blanket box in front of our bedroom window overlooking our front yard and watch what is going on outside and greet me with a mew as I come home, now sometimes when I come home I see a kitty and an Amstaff in the window They also sometimes play with bits of string together! (OT: Mita for the encouragement and advice you gave me about adding a kitty to the family. Not sure if you remember my thread a couple of months back but your posts were very helpful :D ) -

Good thread! I've been looking for something to help Juno's focus on me I have tried LAT a few times when on walks but will make it a consistant part of our training and walks. I have recently joined an obedience club and Juno is over threshold majority of the time so it has felt like a waste. When I asked if I could work with her by myself away from the other dogs to work on her focus I was told she just have to put up with it and get used to it. I think I will work with her using these techniques before going back because I feel it's a complete waste of time and doing more bad than good if she isn't focusing on me! I have heard of this priciple but still being a newbie how do you achieve proof? -

Definitely! Juno has been infatuated since he first showed up where he had to take his time to suss out her size! He has been curious about Juno from day 1 though. It is so special watching their relationship blossom They are only a few months apart in ages and it gives me warm fuzzies knowing that they will grow up together. Last night Juno and Spats were lying on the mat taking turns licking each others faces. Very very cute! Naw Saxon and Kitty love! I guess your cat tends to get a wet head too then! It's a hard one but there is something about a cat and dog snuggle that makes me go extra gooey!! -
Juno's latest and favourite toy is the Kong Wubba Tugga and she LOVES it! It has a couple of squeekers in it so it makes weird and wonderful noises and it's made out of really tough stuff! Gotta be to stand up to an Amstaff! We play tug and fetch with it but Juno's other favourite game with it is to do laps of the yard with it in her mouth squeeking it like mad and shaking the tails! She can do this for ages at a time!

Naw your little family are very cute and look very cosy Same at our house! Our 2 didn't grow up with cats either :D We adopted little Spats about a month ago. You would honestly think Juno our Amstaff and Spats have been together since day 1! Our SBT is a reformed cat chaser(never catcher though!) She doesn't even look side ways at Spats when he gets the kitty crazies. I think it just seems too much effort for the old girl now not to mention she likes to use his fluff bum as a pillow
