  1. Pepe001 We were actually having this discussion last night and OH and I have decided not to tell them anything. We actually have to see them tonight however after thinking it through I came to the same conclusion as yourself. If they think dumping him at the pound would lead to this then what is to stop them doing it again or telling other people - oh it's OK bc someone will find him a home They knew it wasn't going to end well bc they lied and told everyone they took him to the RSPCA not the pound. If I am forced to speak to them tonite i will make the comment that so many dogs that are surrendered are PTS esp this time of year. I think the doggy Gods were looking after Buster and these people don't need to know that he has found the perfect forever home.... they don't deserve to know after the way they treated him. I say let them feel like crap...
  2. Oh Caraboose - I just saw your pictures and I am just so so happy to see him looking so well... To see him runnng around your yard when I know how miserable he was living next door to us - it just makes my heart sing... When you think what the outcome could have been for today You guys are just the best One of my nice neighbours (who has been so supportive all week) and her family and OH and myself had a Buster emancipation party last night Buster and your family was toasted many many times !!!!
  3. Caraboose - you and all your family are just the best I look forward to heqring of Buster's exploits
  4. Caraboose - your father in law is Buster's dream come true :D He is such a lovely boy - he is nearly 12 months old and is a friendly and outgoing young man who unfortunately was owned by a family that just didn't bother... very friendly wih other dogs too as he was forever saying hello to my two through the fence. The owners did have a problem with him on lead in the fact that he pulled a bit but they never bothered to try and train him out of it rather just didn't walk him at all He was also sent to a boarding kennel / training facility for three weeks a few months ago when they were OS so he has had formal training but it was never followed up and implemented by the owners He was just meant to come back magically fully trained So the "acting up" was more from boredom and lack of interest / interaction - instead of working with him they just avoided him As your father in law knows the breed then it won't take him too long to settle Buster down and turn him into the dog he always should have been... This is SUCH a GREAT outcome - I think he is going to be sooo much happier with your father in law then he was with the neighbours.. In this case there definitly is a doggy God My OH and I would love to hear how he is settling in... Hoping you and your family have a very special Christmas - I know Buster will now :D
  5. :D UPDATE - GOOD NEWS HE HAS A FOREVER HOME !!!!! Guys just wanted to share the good news... The wonderful people at Pound Rounds have found this gorgeous young man a forever home. He is flying to Tamworth to live with an elderly gentleman who has owned ACD's all his life and has been waiting patiently for a friend since his aged ACD passed away recently. He will be walked three times a day and be spoilt rotten by this lovely man who lives alone - apparently he has already bought three collars, a new kennel and stocked his house with treats and food.. He is so excited to own this lovely boy and I am just over the moon that this has been the outcome in such an awful but all too familiar situation... The lovely boy will now have a fabulous Christmas with someone who will understand him and give all the love and attention he deserves. To all of you who followed this thread thank you so mcuh for all your support and good wishes.... I am very happy today :D
  6. You guys are all just so awesome... Fuzzycuddles and Sheliaheel02 - thank you so much - your generosity esp at this time of year is just amazing ... This whole experience has made me quite sick and REALLY opened my eyes up but then you guys come along and offer so much support and hope it really reaffirms my faith in human nature I have been speaking to Kim at AWDRI and she has been great but the lack of carers seems to be the issue at present.. I have been checking the rescue and pound website every few hours to see if there has been any updates on this poor dog and each time there are just more and more dogs listed I have one slim hope that a relative of mine who owns a cattle dog and property in Bargo might be able to take him... I will find out this morning - OH and I will do everything we can to get him there this weekend if we can.... Thank you Sharon I will contact SLK Cattle Dog rescue this mroning and I emaailed Steve at K9pro and he sent me the link to the ACD society so will talk to them as well... I am running out of time
  7. Sinta at the moment OH and i are so angry at them we don't even want to look at them I have told my other neighbour so the grapevine is buzzing no doubt - i might ask her to speak to them this aftetnoon.. OH and I are seriously considering fostering him until he finds a home... I don't know how we will manage it with our two but I feel like we have to do something... we have a couple of family members that are ringing around friend's / work colleagues but we have yet to hear back.. I just had an entertaining thought - just imagine the look on the neighbour's faces when they peer over the fence and see him in our yard
  8. I know - it makes me so sick... Beginning of school holdays I would suspect Some Christmas Day he will have
  9. Just checked he is on the AWDR website as urgent Can everyone PLEASE cross all paws !!!!
  10. Thanks Guys.... I have asked everyone I know if they can take him or know of someone but no one can If I had the space I would have him in a heartbeat.... I am hoping against hope that AWRDI comes through.... BC Crazy - thank you for your lovely words and good wishes ...
  11. Guys just wanted to update... I have read all your responses and agree 100% There is so much I wanted to post about the situation but sadly we all know too well what happens in these cases. I have two young Labs who I walk / swim at 5.00 am and 7.00 pm everyday regardless of weather - whom OH and I have spent hours training as puppies and beyond /socialising / day care when possible etc and basically tried to give them the utmost quality of life whilst working 12 hour days- which I know everyone on these forums does too regardless of work / social committments etc. It is not a committment that we undertook lightly. Weekends are all about them and they are our utmost priority - often to the rididule of work colleagues and neighbours but you know what - who cares - they are our life. So to see this situation develop next door with people who had the time and the resources to spend on him and who didn't made my blood boil. I couldn't sit back and let this promising young dog get dumped bc he became " too much hard work" and the infuriating thing is that it IS THEIR FAULT Yes he was surrendered to Blacktown pound - they told the OH it was RSPCA but after a bit of research yesterday I found him on the pound website. It broke my heart. I was patting him through the fence Sunday morning and the next day he was there BUT the good news is that I contacted the Aust Working Dog rescue yesterday morning and by the afternoon they had been in contact with me via email to check his details etc... I have everything crossed that they can help... For those of you who have been involved in rescue etc (my first time so a bit clueless here) should I chase up today ?
  12. I would be wary about fostering him, as it may upset your neighbours, they may think you are being interfering etc. Just something to think about. That is what OH thought as well... Plus we havw rwo young Labs and a small yard- not an ideal situation Hopefully an alternativ emight present itself by tomorrow...
  13. Thanks Fuzzycuddles.. I will ring them first thing tomorrow and explain the situation.... I know this time of year is a nightmare and no doubt will only get worse in the new year with all the unwanted new Xmas presents
  14. I know - I so agree - I just think they were overwhelmed with a boisterous young dog and with two young children... not an ideal situation... But with the means now for breed research / advice etc Do I just ring AWDR and explain the situation to them ? I feel like the nosey neighbour from hell - but felt sick when OH told me when I got home
  15. Thank you Aussie3 - just hoping that ACD rescue can help him find the right home. They are good poeple and tried various things over the last few months but I think had a high energy working dog that didn't fit into the lifestyle that they had and didn't have the right reources / training to cope... A far too common mistake unfortunately... I am just a bit upset bc he is a gorgeous dog and would do so well with the right home and I guess would love him to have a second chance...
  16. Apologies if not posting in the correct thread - however I have just found out that our next door neighbours have surrended their gorgeous 11 month ACD to Blacktown RSPCA. I am furious with them and devestated that due to all the usual reasons - which I won't get into - YET ANOTHER potential promising young dog (bored and understimultaed)has been surrended. I was hoping that perhaps someone could pass on the details or PM me with the organisation involved in rescue for ACD's. I am not sure if the RSPCA contacts rescue groups (not having been involved before and aplologise for my ignorance) but it breaks my heart to see this poor young dog abandoned thru no fault of his own and coming up to Xmas and beyond I am concerned that he may get lost in the influx in the new year. Happy to provide more info if needed and also more detialed reasons for the surender and appreciate any help / contacts that might help... Thanking you... DDL
  17. Emma Mae - I just saw your post - a big thank you to Gretel and yourself for spreading the word to everyone via FB... As the flyer idea was scotched and I can't get down there till the weekend I was worried that poeple wouldn't be aware of his threats.... at least i can relax now knowing that people are spreading the word and being vigilant.. Emma Mae -that is just awful about the smashed bottle - there are some really revolting people out there... Hope your little one gets well soon
  18. Yep - i would have to agree that is quite a big sporting oval with lots of sports going on esp in winter.. A few local people have made that comment too.. While I sympathise with the residents (having lived opp a sports oval AND daycare centre) the noise that Sunday was minimal - although as I have said I can;t comment on the lead up to this - BUT surely there are better methods of reasoning with people than threatening to bait
  19. I know I so wish I had of paid more atention to him and where he lived - I was a bit shell shocked to be honest at his hatred... and it was early on a Sunday - last thing you would expect coming your way... Although his aggro face is forever etched in my memory - I would ID him in a line up that's for sure ;) Let's hope it never comes to that...
  20. Gretel - just logged on this morning and saw your response - I would LOVE you to post it... Reason being the ranger has just rang me and advised against the flyers as apprently she has said it would casue WW3 and more grief to dog owners/park members... apparently the complaints have been numerous from residents re the noise although she admitted none as viscious as this nutter... She said word of mouth was fine but the flyers would cause alot of grief and potentially escalate things so please not to do that... I feel like I have stumbled into a minefield The ranger said that people could be warned verbally to be vigilant about checking the perimeters and keeping a close eye on their dogs.... All in all I am pretty disappointed in both the reactions / reponses of both the police and ranger - they have pretty much admittied that nothing can be done as it was just a "threat" which I might add I took VERY seriously - you just had the see the venom coming from this guy to see he meant it... Watch the 360 from authorities if he goes ahead with it
  21. Hi all - thank you so much your suggestions and advice.. Police have now been notified of the threat and i am waiting to hear back from the ranger with regards to their feedback / actions on the matter.... how hard are those rangers to get hold of Flyers have now been amended and will be distibuted asap... there were some great suggestions so thank you all... He might remove the flyers but i am hoping that if just a few people see them then word of mouth etc might alert most of the regulars to the threat.. I just hope that all bases have been covered and this idiot takes a deep breath and has a good think about the repercussions if he goes ahead with this gutless act... Interestingly the police didn't comment at all on the flyers so i am thinking that they probabaly thought it was an OK thing to do....
