Eridor China Roses worked beautifully yesterday to gain her HT title. She also received a most promising dog award. The weekend prior, she passed her TQT at Morwell tracking trial. Congrats Riley and Rosie - way to go. Edited coz I stuffed up the most promising award bit. Sorry Pocket

Congratulationss Cosmolo, hang onto that happy feeling you have with her, try not to get distracted or dissapointed, thats not what its meant to be about. No one goes into the ring to get a NQ score..... its just what happens on the day. Everyone who has been in there knows how many ways the wheels can fall off. :p You hang onto the postitives, and scratch your head and go home and work on the negatives. Being part of the day is what counts, so brag away. Good on you, and everyone else giving it a bash.

There is a quiet achiever amongst us, who never says much unless she can be of some help. So I want to publicly congratulate her on BOTH her dogs passing their Track 6 and becoming Champions at last weekends Trial in Victoria. No small feat considering the weather and conditions. CONGRATULATIONS DOGDAYZ!!! ;)

I started this thread 18 months ago, and today it finishes. My best friend has gone to Rainbow Bridge. She went in my arms, and tried to lick the tears slowly leaking down my face away as she calmly waited to go. She was just too worn out and tired to stay any longer. She went the way she had lived her whole life, with dignity, and pride. She is not alone, she has taken a huge chunk of me with her, there is a big hole inside me that cant be filled. A special thank you to Dr Avril Williams, who has been so wonderful the past few months, and who so kindly came here so Jem could be at home with her family at the end. I hesitated before posting this, as there are people who have enough darkness in their hearts to find my grief interesting, but I started this thread out of love for a worn out little red dog, who loved hard and long, and it is for her that I am finishing it. No one could say anything anyway that could make me hurt any more than I already am. Goodnight my darling girl, please wait for me……...

Geez Moop, lighten that shot up a bit color wise and they are twins for sure. I gotta get some fluff butt shots of Banjo asap. Listen DD, there is 'improving' and there is 'plodding along'. Mr B and I will continue having fun - might even get our HIT by, um, say 2020.... And Skye would like me to remind you that 'when a lady has to go', well, you know the rest.

I also feed 'part BARF'. I always have a bag of eagle pack holistic dry food around, and I use it as an bulk up for feeds, not a replacement. I couldnt do any sort of BARF cheaply without a chest freezer (2nd hand) especially for dog food. We buy a box of chicken frames for $5, and get roughly 40-50 frames in a box. I buy bulk chopped beef, roo etc from a greyhound supplier (have to take it home and re bag it into day sized bags) and bones I pick up where ever I see them dirt cheap. The three that I feed here had a shank each yesterday (it was a treat after a big weekend) coz I was in the supermarket and they were reducing them to a crazy price. Flaps, necks, bones, chicken wings etc I buy in bulk on special from wholesalers, and freeze. OH's fishing adventures keep dogs well stocked in whole fish (once gutted in case of hooks etc) and I pick up the odd whole fish when I see it cheap cheap. Vegies they eat like we do - what is on special that week we pig out on. Yogurt etc the same - some weeks lots, other weeks not so much. Pretty slack hey? Not counting the dry food I choose to use, the rest costs me much less than the tins of dog food I brought in the 'old days'. The dry food is used for high energy days. Less dog poop and beautiful healthy coats. ETA: Ours do get left over pasta, rice etc. if its available. Leftovers gets scraped into dog bowls, and just mixed into what ever else is on the menu next day. Raw eggs the same. We dont use that many, but if its as cheap to buy a dozen, its a raw egg, shell and all mashed into dins. Did I mention I was the slackest BARF feeder on DOL?

Interesting read this thread, and a good giggle. One point I'd like to comment on please, if thats ok. Its stated quite a few pages back that you shouldn't have a dog or recommend anyone have a dog unless you/they can give it one hour a day of their time. Is one hour a day enough interaction to have a well behaved, socially balanced dog? Would be interested in your opinions. (sorry to drag the topic away from visuals of HR topless with stockwhip in hand)

My old girl is on Sasha's Blend, and a monthly cartrophen injection. She is 16, and has been on 3 legs since she was 4. It is so obvious now when she's getting due for her shot, that I think this winter we might even give them to her a bit closer as they make such a difference to her quality of life, and its all about quality now for us. I have tried different joint foods over the years with her, even equine ones. For her, the cartrophen gets us through winter and has more effect. But I have heard other cases where it is the opposite. I guess we just try everything we can for our precious furkids. I have given everything on the market a go. Playing around with something like joint food, I honestly believe, is well worth the trouble. The effects of different brands can be very different.

Please can we not make this thread about judge bashing? I pushed it back up to congratulate dogdayz and Skye. So much work goes into organising any day, fun or official. Pm'ing each if you are going to name people would be a 'nicer' option. JMHO of course.

Well this comp was today......... and only a few DOLers turned up and competed in the crappy wet weather. I've dragged this thread back up to congratulate dogdayz and Skye for their great score and WIN today. Skye is just working better and better, and today was no different. All those short coated dogs who wouldnt drop or stay on that wet soggy ground. Miss Skye lay there on her beautiful collie coat and wondered what all the fuss was about. :D :D As for the rest of you slackers who DIDNT turn up, :D

Banjo sends licky kisses to the mum of his, er, humping buddy. He says Dodge is playing at the bridge now, bouncing through the long grass, in the sunshine. Chasing butterflys and racing with his many new friends, over to the stream for a drink and then flopping on the grass for a rest, his big wide smile as large as it ever was at any of the doggy DOL meets he attended. He is content, safe while he waits, and feels the love he had his whole life here wrapped around him like a soft blanket on a cold day. Banjo says he is very sad his friend has gone, and for aunty Rexy to be brave, and if she cant be, to remember its ok to miss a dog as wonderful as Dodge......... Big licks (and hugs) to all those at the Rexy home right now.

Oh Ollie, you little trooper. Stop worrying your mum like that with those fatty lumps and keep trotting chubby!!! So happy to hear things are going ok, for both of you. as always, for Jodie and Ollie dog.

Banjie sends kisses auntie LL1 He got to go to his walking group this morning, very early and run with his mates so he'll sleep all day while I'm gone. Yeah, total bummer having to clean the house, ;) but settlement means we can get the doggy heaven 'dump' facelifted and extended (if the plans ever get approved :p ) so it will all be worth it in the end. I had no idea you were a DOLer, sorry. :p Hmmm, we might have to change the name of Hastings to DOL obedience after all........ ;) I'm not going today, have to pack up and clean a house for settlement (blerk), but I 'think' another DOLer is joining the ranks today (are you Springychickadee?) and I hope to see you all there in the next few weeks. :D Dont have too much fun without me. :p

I just found this thread, and have been wondering the last few weeks how she's been going. Thinking of you both today. You are doing the bravest, hardest, most loving thing anyone could ever do for your beautiful bestest girl. Be strong for her today, we will all be here for you later if you need to chat. ;)

He is just such a totally adoorable angel faced wonder puppy. :D We'll get to see him next week in with the 'big' kids. Max is going to be there next Sunday isnt he Springy? Not quite sure, but Miss Rosie pocket pup 'might' be coming along to join Max in disrupting intro class. Toby will have to make them all behave coz Banjo will be too busy body slamming Max (as usual) to help! (oh dear, I already guess how bad they are all going to be together with us trying to get them to concentrate on learning )
