  1. I'm sorry but I wouldn't use these alone for paralysis ticks especially if you are going into a bad tick area. Maybe in conjunction with a chemical treatment. Perhaps they are ok for bush ticks though. Advantix, frontline are pretty good but don't work 100% I have had a paraylsis tick on my dog even though we were using frontline every 2 weeks. The most important thing to do is to check everyday for ticks, in conjunction with a good preventative treatment. The risk of a serious reaction to FL or advantix is very low, much lower than your dog getting a tick in a high tick area. I agree that there is nothing out there that will 100%, 100% of the time. I think people should just use what they are happy with but it is good to be informed of the options as well as the dangers of using some chemicals.
  2. Interesting but not surprising in that somethings work for some people whilst others don't. My local pet shop has mentioned that they are constantly getting people in complaining that Frontline doesn't work. Shoo Tag has worked a treat for me and a number of friends of mine have had the same result. The main thing for me was I really hated using chemicals and after doing some research online I was horrified as to what these chemicals I was using on my dog actually did to him. I also did some research into fipronil and studies suggest "fipronil has been classified as a Group C (Possible Human) Carcinogen based on an increase in thyroid follicular cell tumors in both sexes of the rat". Each to their own I guess but I'm very happy to have found shoo tag, it works for me and actually saves me quite a bit of money too.
  3. Just wondering why you wouldn't recomend shoo tag for paralysis ticks? The reason I looked into (& found shoo tag) is that I wasn't comfortable putting nasty chemicals on my dog. There is a lot of controversy out there about what these chemicals actually do to your dog. Here are a few examples: Spot on flea treatments can kill Spot Ons - what are the dangers Spot ons cause seizures - yahoo chat
  4. I would recomend Shoo Tag to anyone - the best thing about it is that you don't use chemicals. Just google Shoo Tag. They are little plastic tags that you attach to your dogs collar. I purchased them only because they come with a money back guarantee so although I was sceptical I had nothing to lose. I used to pull about 10 ticks off my dog a week during the summer months. since using these tags I haven't seen a single tick
  5. I have had amazing results with Shoo Tag - I would recomend them to anyone. The best thing is that I no longer have to put nasty chemicals on my dog anymore! I've heard that it doesn't work for all dogs but it will for 97-99%......just like the chemicals don't work for everyone either. They also offer a money back guarantee - something the chemical treatments have never offered. I'm a convert - Shoo Tag all the way for me!
  6. I'm new here so hello everyone! My border collie Max had had similar reactions (nothing quite as severe as in this pic) and I was frustrated that there was nothing on the market that didn't involve chemicals. I hated putting chemicals on Max but had no choice as I couldn't bear watching him scratch all the time. I was reading Burke's Backyard Magazine and read about a new product called Shoo Tag. It claimed to be totally chemical free, lasts for 3-4 months and comes with a money back guarantee. It sounded too good to be true. I really didn't think it would work but it came with a 30 day money back guarantee so I had nothing to loose. I attached the tags to Max's collar and for the first day he was still scatching and when I rolled him over I could see fleas. The next morning I woke up and checked Max and to my amazement he stopped scratching and when I rolled him over I couldn't see a single flea on him. I've been using the Shoo Tags for just over a month and i've not see a single flea. He is so much happier and so am I. Finally a product which effectively treats fleas without chemicals. I would recomend Shoo Tag to anyone. I have also read other glowing reviews from their website Visit My Website
