I was interested to hear what you feed your brachycephalic dog? what bones do you allow him/her to chew on? I own a japanese chin and I am paranoid in what I feed him as I have had to come to terms with the loss of my pug, Conrad, 18 mths ago. I had given him a tiny piece of cracker barrel cheese, about the size of a 10 cent piece. I found him about 15 mins later, he had died....having choked on the cheese. It played constantly on my mind, if only I had found him sooner I could have removed the particle of food and given him CPR....and more importantly....if only I had not given him that piece of cheese. Everything seems like a risk unless it constitutes mince and soft food.

Chicken wings, chicken necks, chicken frames, lamb shanks. I do own a japanese chin and I never give him chicken necks - too scared he will choke. He will gnaw on a lamb shank and I do give him chicken wings but only when I am supervising him.

What gives the owners of SWF's the idea that it is okay when their dog can run up to other dogs and bail them up? They are putting their own small fluffy's life in peril by allowing this to take place. It really is so darn annoying that people are aware of what their own dog's peculiarities are and still turn a blind eye, patience has to prevail as it seems that such people are the rule and not the exception :D

Make a point of reporting this attack to the council; you owe it to Morrison and to other dogs that might stand a chance of being attacked by this dog. You need not feel guilty, it can be daunting to find oneself in such circumstances; personally I would have aimed for the attacking dog's head or ribs with a swift hard kick. What breed is Morrison and what breed was the aggressor? So sorry this has happened to you and to poor Morrison. Hope he will be fine in no time.

Good idea in carrying the large umbrella. I think it should become customary for people to carry something or other just in case. Seems that this is becoming more prevalent in which dogs are being baled or attacked in public parks. I would be paranoid in attending such places esp. with a smaller dog, that's not saying that larger dogs are in no danger but obviously the smaller the dog the less chance it has of defending itself if the aggressor is larger.

I see that all the time, dogs with their head hanging out of car windows and it makes me cringe!!! How irresponsible and so utterly idiotic! Gotta admit though that I hate the sight of dogs on the back of utes just as much even if they are tied.

Owners of such dogs should take full responsibility for the behaviour of their dogs! It is so infuriating that some people can be so nonchalant. As you said, the owner of the kelpie obviously was aware as to the behaviour of her dog given that she saw your dad throw the bag at him yet feels that her dog should be allowed to behave in all matter of ways? Short of a labotamy, nothing will ever change.

OMG That is horrible. I can see the funny side of that, lol. I certainly did not mean it the way it sounded . I was just trying to say that the woman was not under duress and was not a victim, she would only do what she wanted to and not simply because she was made to. That was in response to a poster saying that the woman may have been a victim of abuse which is so not the case here.

How on earth can you be so presumptuous to make such assumptions? Whatever she did, she did willingly! She wouldn't even cook him a meal unless she wanted to ffs! The house was a pig sty, she would wait for the kids to come home from school and then force them to do the dishes. The toilet was never cleaned. He would constantly complain of having to live under such conditions! Thekids had to provide the water for her animals and feed them as well, she was too busy mucking around with her computer. If thekids were umming and urring about having todo any of that she would literally scream from the top of her lungs. She did bugger all around the house, her miniature horses were kept in a small barn covered in one foot of manure. Like I said, she was not a victim. What part dont you understand? Did you miss the part where I said that she would hit thekids? But hey, I had better staple my lips 2gether cause according toyou I am contributting to the poor woman's harrassement, I have never heard such nuisance in all my born days!

The marriage is over and he has been ordered to move out which he has done. The greyhounds have been removed to a friend's place and it goes without saying that the same cruel practices will continue; I don't know where his friend is located and I don't intend to find out.

What? Greyhounds don't need to be 'blooded' any more than your whippets do. The closeness or otherwise of your relationship with your dog is irrelevant. It's just bullshit. And just because PercyK runs into a silly, ignorant loud-mouthed cow has never bothered to learn about the proper way to train dogs, doesn't mean what she says is true. There are far more effective and reliable ways to get a dog chasing than to 'blood' it. But instead we get scum trying to justify the practice. It is cruel and totally inexcusable. And the people that talk about it and say it's necessary should have their filthy mouths washed out. Mmmmm, no need to swear at me. It didn't really come out right though, I admit. I dont see why they need to blood greyhounds but it almost sounds like I think it's necessary because of the way they are raised. That is definitely not what I meant to say. I think anyone caught doing it should be jailed and banned from owning greyhounds for life, that is what I'd like to see. I so agree! Anyone caught using live lure for their greyhounds should be jailed and banned from owning greyhounds or any animal for life! The only problem is that it is already illegal but it is not something that can be policed hence it still continues. It takes a certain type of person to do that sort of thing and such people will always play a role in this world unfortunately. My only hope is that such sorry excuses of human beings get their just desserts, hate them with a passion.

I understand your frustrations. I look at things from another viewpoint. Possums don't ask to be born (I suppose that applies to any life form) and they have to survive albeit at your loss. Imagine for one second if you were born a possum instead of a human.
