I have a 9 year old JRT called Louis. He's my husband and mines "first born". Back when he was about 2 years old he had a grade 2 Mast Cell tumor and we successfully removed it and never had a problem again. Well today we found another lump on him and we are naturally very worried about the nature of this lump. He is having surgery first thing monday and sending the lump off straight to the lab. It's in a really bad spot too, right on his hock so not really a lot of room to take a wide surgical margin and stitching it together will prove somewhat difficult. Can you send some good vibes his way please?

I'm new to photography but am fast falling in love with macro.

If you put a watermark on your photo's can't people just get rid of it with teh 'clone' stamp? Is there any way of making a watermark that is NOT removable?

Adv On Noticeboard Offering Vet Nurse Advice
matilda1 replied to Boronia's topic in General Dog Discussion
I am a vet nurse and have people asking me for advice all the time. I don't advertise and I don't charge for it, but it starts with the phone calls at work where I am PAID to give advice within my realms of knowledge. Obviously any MEDICAL questions need to be referred to the Veterinarian. But don't under-estimate a good nurse. We have so much knowledge from behaviour (the basics unless continued education), to nutrition, general pet health, diseases, breeding and all manner of things. I think it's a great service to provide. There are many people out there who do not have a knowledgable person to turn to and possibly have simple questions which do not warrent a trip to the vet and paying for a full consultation. Go for it I say. (as long as she is staying within her realms of knowledge which she seems to be) -
Thanks Kirislin. Yes it came with a good manual, and I have also purchased a beginners guide book to my camera and DSLR photography. Just waiting for it to arrive in the mail. ;)

Thanks all. The dogs had a blast. I have a NIKON D70 but really do not know how to use it yet. I am waiting for my photography book to arrive in the mail so I can stop using the AUTO setting

Immune Mediated Thrombocytopenia
matilda1 replied to OzDallyGirl's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
She sounds like a very tough dog, this will work in your favour. hang in there and I am sending you healing vibes. I can't believe she is not in hospital with internal bleeding and a plt count of 1. I really hope she improves for you quickly and you can soon look back on this time as just a 'story'. it's so horrible when they're ill. best of luck to you -
Immune Mediated Thrombocytopenia

Hi, firstly I am really really sorry that you have to go through this and I am wishing you the best outcome and a speedy recovery. I have seen some dogs make a recovery from IMT back when i was nursing in Emergency and Critical care. However I find the reading of 1 UNBELIEVABLE. That does not coincide with life. Either way, whatever the number is the condition is serious as you are well aware, but I have seen them recover. I am sending you best wishes and thoughts and hoping that yours will be one of the lucky success stories. All the best -
Yes I know....it's dumb rule that should have been changed 100 years ago. But I'm not here to get into that whole discussion

there's a new product available through your vet clinic called COMFORTIS !! ;)

"quoting" for a pyo is very difficult as you don't really know what you are going to find until you "get in there" so quoting on the upper end of costs usually is better than underquoting. At least if it's fairly uncomplicated' then you get a pleasant surprise at the end if you have change. I assisted in an open pyo just today in Surgery and it took nearly 2 hours. It's not a simple surgery no matter how bad or uncomplicated. So even if you take the medication, risk, consumables and other expenses aside you are paying TWO qualified people for that amount of time. A good plumber nearly charges that. Vet clinics do not run a big profit margin, I can assure you of that. At the End of the day, the message here is 'spey' BEFORE your bitch has a chance to get pyometra. I think the quote given was spot on.

I used to feed Hills to my Blue heeler when she was a pup. Had lots of gastric upsets and soft poos. It got to the stage where I was worried about her health and digestive system. She was passing about 5-6 poos a day and drinking excessively to boot. I switched diets to Advance and the problem was solved within 12 hours. But every dog is different. Like mentioned above the best diet is the one that suits your dog.
