What a great idea !! I will do just that when the weather improves a little.

I kind of rotate. katie comes to two different work places with me and she has seperate toys which just stay there. So when she walkes into work she'll be happy to see a toy she hasn't seen all night and vica versa. I stitch up toys a couple of times depending on the 'injuries' and the price of the toy. There is one favorite of hers which was quite expensive in the scheme of things, it's a rooster and it crows when she plays with it. but there are some I have thrown out for good now, as she did swallow the ducks foot and the mouse ears. They both passed out the other end the next day *phew* so I am very selective now. I don't plan on rushing to work and doing a Foreign body surgery on my own dog. katie just carried soft toys around in her mouth and slept with them until she was about 11 weeks. She's now 13 weeks and tears them apart. Mr Rooster is 'on holidays' following his 'operation' for a while in the hope that she will grow out of it. Or he can be brought out for special occasions and supervised play from now on.

I'm not sure exactly what is going through their head when they do this, but I can tell you that it's perfectly normal. It's an instinct they are born with and a neccesary skill in the wild, so i guess like anything else he is just 'practicing' and learning survival skills from way back.

So far, everyone here knows me as the one with the cattle dog puppy. And although my love is indeed the cattle dog, i do have other fur kids. So I thought I would introduce them to you. Matilda, my 2 year old JRT Louis, my husbands 5 year old JRT Matilda in her house :-) Aiko, my rescue cat from work. She had a broken pelvis. Arminius, my second rescued cat from work. He was abused as a 4 week old kitten....badly... Arwen, our original cat, however she was a stray. oh, and the chooks. Esmarelda, Henrietta and Gertrude: There you have it....now you know my whole family

Maybe ask for a barium swollow? Do they do those with dogs??? If not, they might need to but him open to investigate, as nothing showing up on x-ray doesn't mean there is nothing there. 99% of the time you can still tell that there is a FB of some kind due to the gas patterns. And YES, they do barium in Veterinary Medicine. I'm pleased all turned out well -

I'm sure it's nothing....but even if it IS something more sinister it sounds like you have cought it early, so still most likely completely treatable. Keep us posted and best of luck. -
I use the rawhide knot bones, but un coloured or flavoured. katie likes them and I have never had a problem.

Mine is having a puppy ZOOMIE indoors right now. I love watching it. They just have so much fun. Elbie is gorgeous

I perform regular 'surgery' on Katies stuffed toys, but now that she is getting bigger, I am thinking that stuffed toys is not the way to go anymore. She has lots of rope toys and chew bones now.

I shouldn't say it out loud, but so far my little blue dog has done no evil KB, she is just over 7 kilo.

Just thought I would post an updated picture of my little Katie. She's growing so fast.

Staffies have an exceptionally high pain threshold. So where he may not be showing any signs of pain, another breed could potentially be screaming. Sounds like you are onto the job of finding out what the problem is. Please keep us posted and good luck -
My goodness KB, Elbie sure is growing into a very handsome young man

Katie and my two JRT's lick the dishwasher too....and even the three cats join in sometimes. makes me wonder if I need a dishwasher at all??? I could just pop the dirty dished on the floor or in the cupboard, open the doors and let them do the work

Can someone clever do something nice with this. I have spent hours trying to play with it, and clearly I am just not capable.

Just as a footnote, be careful with how much pineapple you feed as it is very high in acids.

Vet Recomendation's For Pakenham

Berwick Village Animal Care has just been bought from Doreen Tudge and the new vet there "Jeremy" is FANTASTIC. He has Emergency and Critical Care experience and is very kind and thorough. I work at the Emergency Centre and any patients sent to us by him have had everything checked and worked up, he knows what he's doing compared to most General Practice Vets. I used to work at the clinic prior to him taking it over. I have met him as a friend of mine still nurses there. And I HIGHLY reccomend him. 35 Clyde Road Berwick 9707 3855 -

I would still recommend the Xray, you never know what you are looking for until you see it !!!!! I haven't ruled out a foreign body. -
I'm with the carrot and pumpkin, however if you prefer a commecial food then I reccomend Eukanuba restricted Calorie.
