  1. I have just managed to purchase the best natured ACD I have ever met. After a long time of searching I found a very good registered breeder in victoria who breeds for temperament from non-working dogs. I met both parents and she has the bonus of being from great show lines as well. parents are healthy and pups come complete with all papers and insurance etc. if you are interested in contact details just let me know. The kennel is only a small kennel and only breeds 2 litters per year. there is one planned for next month.
  2. It's the Dromana pier A great Fish and chip shop accross the road too and a park to have some lunch at.
  3. Just had a really good look at the website...................... i think I want to move in
  4. Ooooooh..Kepala looks like a great place, but unfortunately I am unable to come this Sunday as I am working Will definately keep an eye on upcoming dates though, it looks perfect.
  5. You could speak to your vet about Clomicalm if it's really bad. Sometimes you can use this short term just to break the cycle of fear. Or if you are after something herbal maybe try rescue remedy. I agree with the previous post though about seeing a behaviourist first, you may be able to overcome this without medication.
  6. Could also be a contaminant in the soil? Probably not, but a possibility? I'm sort of mentioning this here in response to your post, BD, because, as a result of my boy's ongoing issues, I had a heavy metal urine test done on my boy and it has shown up positive. It showed a colour that was not on the test chart (exactly) and seemed to be a combination of lead and mercury. I've tested the water here, but that's clear. I'm next going to test the water from his ceramic bowl, as some ceramics can cause this type of contamination. From my very basic understanding of it (and I emphasise "basic") you can have chronic cases and then you can have acute cases. I expect the latter would be from cases where the animal eats something like a battery, or a lead weight or something. But the chronic might be something more subtle - like living in an environment where lead particles from peeling paint or something are absorbed over time. Heavy metals can be absorbed by the fetus through the mother's womb as well, so it can start from way back then. But I presume if the pups aren't sickly then it would have been unlikely to have occurred this way. Only my guesswork and assumption though. I also believe that once affected by heavy metal intact/absorption, the body is unable to rid itself of it and requires detoxification to do so. I'm not sure myself about the intermittent symptoms and it's hard to find the answers via google, but I do wonder if a mild toxicity level could cause this. I don't know, but I am interested in it. Sorry for the slight hi-jack Mooboo. The information may or may not be helpful to you. Either way, I hope you can find out what ails your dog and that it is nothing serious and easily remedied. It is possible indeed, unfortunately impossible to tell just by discribing symptoms. Would need to run somet tests. As is the case for vastibular. In any scenario.....I hope you get some answers and your dog improves soon
  7. Awww, I'm sad. I really want to come but am working night shift the night before and will be needing to sleep
  8. Are you in Victoria? Your profile suggests you are in QLD. You're welcome to come, but your trip maybe expensive.
  9. great...so we already have a few interested people and pooches. now to pick a place?? Fenced??? Hmmm... anyone have any ideas? And where are we all from. I'm in the dandenongs, but happy to travel.
  10. Katie just learned how to go up and down stairs. It's quite a big staircase I must admit (goes from the ground floor of a barn to the loft) and you can see through the stairs so visually a bit scary too. She was fine UP but struggled DOWN for a while. I just went with her and held her collar so she felt secure and gave treats. I did one step, then two...then 3....you get the drift. With lots of praise. then she actually went off to 'practice' on her own. probably the working dog in her...needing to get things done. She's fine now. She likes to go half way up the stairs and sit with her bum one step higher than her feet (like on a chair) and watch what goes on 'downstairs' from her prime position up high. But YES, I agree...make sure there is no physical reason first.
  11. One of my JRT's hates the bath but LOVES the beach.
  12. sounds to me like the anal glands expressed themselves too. Jobs done for you. Just wipe the area if it's a bit grubby
  13. I thought I might try and organise a get together in melbourne. I haven't thought about exact locations, I thought I would gather some interested people and then try and pick a place central to the majority. Obviously a doggie play date if possible. Anyone keen?
  14. wow, super photo's and what a sweet heart your dog is.
  15. beautiful photo's. What kind of camera did you get. Mine dies today and I am now thinking about what to get next.
  16. Unfortunately my camera was dying and I didn't quite get the picture I wanted of her under the pier. Here's one I took without her in it.
  17. Katie is now 13 weeks old and fully vaccinated. So today my husband and I took her to the beach. She had a hoot. We took the ball and she thought it was great. She was well behaved and ran like a lunatic, even came back every time she was called. I'm very proud of my little girl, and she wasn't scared of the water either, although I didn't get her to into the water further than with just her feet as it was freezing cold today. Hope you enjoy some of the pictures I took. On the downside...my beloved camera died today !!!

  19. in my experience heavy metal poisoning would not be intermittent??? (I could be wrong) but unless she has access to lead paint or you have been feeding her copious amounts of copper sulfate it is unlikely. Symptoms are very similar though.
  20. I met a lady who does this through my work. I haven't used her myself but the poeple she does work for have used her for 10years + I am always hesitant in reccomending people I haven't used myself but if you get desperate I can pm you her number. But you will have to do the research on her yourself. I have met her and she seemed lovely, and i am using her in the future, but have no experience with her to date.
  21. Poor Tango hang in there, sometimes you have to be a little bit cruel to be kind. it will be worth it in the end, and usually they do get used to the collar within a day or two. If he really really really hates it you cn get soft collars. I have seen them but am not sure where to get them from, probably a good pet supply store? And I echo the psot above 'don't be tempted to take that collar off' It takes 2 seconds to undo those stitches and cause damage. Just hang in there
  22. sorry, I just read that you have thought about CT scans. I think it could be a good idea. I am a vet nurse in Emergency and critical care and we often see these symptoms, but I can't give you a diagnosis without seeing your dog. We do often find the answer in a CT scan though. Like I mentioned above, sometimes they are brain lesions, and sometimes it's nothing serious at all, but if it happens again, I would highly recommend finding out exactly what the cause is. You may be able to treat it.
  23. How old is Bella and what breed? It could be Vestibular http://www.marvistavet.com/html/body_vestibular_disease.html It could be spinal, infection or just idiopathic. Have you considered a CT scan? I know they are not cheap, but it will give you some answers. Hope she is doing well for you at the moment
