  4. Ah gosh this is so scary! I have never had fleas before and with summer coming up I am getting very afraid! have favourited this thread for future reference!

  6. I bought 2 soft crates at different times from ebay seller crates Both came very quickly and very well packaged... very affordable. Very sturdy collapsable crates. Choice of pink or blue! very impressed
  7. Banjo wants walks no matter the weather.... it could be snowing and he still wants to go Luda (whippet) not so much.... she doesnt like outside at all unless its a warm sunny day hee hee
  8. thanks everyone... I have ordered the dap diffuser so will see how that goes first.... dogmad no they arent crated the whole time.... they dont have a doggy door either as we are in a rental... They just stay inside in the non carpeted areas of the house and use pee pads (most of the time).... if I dont have much luck with the diffuser then I will try some herbal remedys...
  9. Banjo did a whiz on my bed once! right in front of me! I took that as a dominance thing and changed a few of my ways and hasnt happened since. Although he was 1 year + at the time.
  10. She is a whippet and they are just little patches of no hair/ scar.... Ok so I will just be very careful monitering Banjos and it should be fine :-S
  11. You could try just about anything! chicken mince kangaroo mince Chicken wings chicken necks Nice meaty bones Sardines, tuna Bits of raw steak or meat Mine are a bit snobbish towards raw meat and usually get holistic select kibble + dog roll but I often mix it up by adding in some of our left over dinner (I am seletive of course), or some sardines, some days add some cottage cheese... variety is the spice of life! (or so they say) They usually get bones as well as their dinner.. btw I would amend your post to say poodle x whatever it is as people can be a little narky about it on here
  12. So I was getting sat on while I was on the couch last night as usual when I noticed my new puppy has no dew claws... she has little scars where they were so I suppose they were removed... My older boy from the pound still has his... So I am wondering why they would be removed and should I worry about Banjos not being removed?
  13. Wow that would be amazing. I watched an episode of ceasar and he was at some clothing company and they were allowed to bring their dogs to work! they even had a play ground for them! That would be the life!
  14. Thanks eveyone so it looks like DAP is the way to go. ... We will look at getting a behavorist in but would just like to see how they go for long periods inside together first. MIL has been here since we got Luda so they havent had much time alone. She will be gone in 2 weeks though so need to start getting everything sorted and together.
  15. We are so lucky at the moment... When we were first looking for a house we didnt even have a dog yet lol it was quite interesting/frustrating looking for a rental that allowed dogs but having no idea what type of dog we were getting. 90 % of the rentals said no dogs or said nothing about dogs and we ended up even calling the ones that said no dogs just to double check. When we applied we submitted a little letter explaining we would be getting an older dog in the future of medium size etc. We ended up with a PM who luckily loved dogs getting us a place that had said NO DOGS. Since then we asked her if it would be possible to get another little dog, she spoke to the landlord and they said yes! So now we have 2 little dogs who are allowed inside and outside. Since we have had them they havent done even one bit of damage. If they did do any damage of course we would fix it/ pay for it and that was outlined on the contract. When we lived in Sydney we owned an apartment and when we applied for a little dog we were told flat out no! And this was an apartment we owned! (stupid strata- rot in hell). Actually that was the day we decided to move from the hell hole called Sydney to Adelaide Saving up to buy our own house and cant wait Until then we will stay where we are if permitted.
  16. I am 90% sure my little guy is a Sheltie X and he barks like like there is no tomorrow. I will never get a another dog that is even remotly sheltie lol
  17. Has anyone here had sucess with either? (Or another type of 'rescue remedy'?) The story- I got my dog Banjo from the RSPCA about 5-6 months ago.... It was originally planned to leave him outside while we went to work (gone approx 8-10 hours 5 days a week). This didnt go so well.... We had a complaint from a neighbour about non stop barking and secret video taping from us confirmed this. After trying things like leaving out our clothes, moving kennel to the back door, kongs, all his food given in treat balls, blocking off all access to the stress still nothing changed. So we started leaving him inside when we went to work. That changed everything. Secret video footage showed him doing hardly any barks, much more relaxed. A month ago we got Luda from a breeder at 4 months. We thought it may work well to put them both outside together. Well it didnt work. Again Luda responded well to being left inside. So we have decided they will just be inside dogs. They like it better and I also dont have to stress about them getting stolen/ baited etc. But they still carry on a little bit inside so I am looking at getting one or the other or both just to help them calm down. We of course will still be working on leaving them alone and this wont be a long term solution. They will be getting a half hour walk every morning before work and left with kongs, a bone and toys will be rotated. They have their crates inside. They will also get a walk after work. So any advise on which works better would be appreciated. thank you!
  18. Lol yeah my two always eat their bones next to each other!
  19. wow this is almost exactly the same problem that I have. Will be very interesting to hear some replies. My solution has been to keep them inside during the day while I am at work. Saving for a behaviourist in the meantime.
  20. He has a whole website describing temprements and characteristics etc of DDs
  21. I took my 18 week old girl out her her first walk last night :D (got her at 16 weeks and not leash trained at all) I was only going to take her around the block to try and get her used to the lead but she was having a great time so took her the whole way with my older dog on out favourite route. At first she wouldnt budge. I tried using some cheese to lure her but that didnt work. Ended up just pulling her a bit and then she happily walked along so happy! she can come with me and banjie very night now!
  22. I understand the thread isn't talking about human doctors. All I did was agree with what was said about human doctors. I don't know anything about vets or pet foods or allergies. My deepest apologies for going off topic.
  23. Agreed. I have always suspected they get paid to hand out those anti depressants as well as it seems every second person is on them nowadays. I went in to the doctor one day as I had been feeling under the weather for months and was hoping some tests could be done to see if something might be wrong with iron levels or something and he straight out asked me if I wanted antis and I hadnt even mentioned anything about being depresssed.
  24. Since having my dogs I have 100% decided I will never ever have human babies. Stuff that for a cruel joke. So yeah I guess they were a practice run- dogs have really shown me what sort of person I am and taught me alot about myself.
