Same This has happened to me 4 times now- offlead dogs running up to us on walks while we are of course on lead. The last one was just Monday... Coming to the end of the walk, so happy with Banjie becuase he didnt bark at anything once then out of nowhere this SWF came running, Banjo grabbed hold... As awful as it sounds OH had to pick him up by his check chain because it was chaos and no one could get a grip of either dog >:D this young kid came out and was apologising etc and took him away.... we are walking off and we hear this huge yelp I think the kid hurt that poor swf. Argh makes me so angry.

how many days should I take off work after Luda 'gets done'? She is 6 months in 5 days.... So she needs to be done anytime now... Would 5 days be enough do you think? (she is inside while I am at work)

Just having read back over the whole thread I have to say I am peeved If I dont work full time how the heck am I supposed to pay for their premium food, toys, vet bills etc?????????????????????? Not everyone has the luxury of being a housewife or whatever else allows you to be at home all the time. Oh and actually my dogs get A LOT more then 1 hr a day exercise and interation thanks! I cant even remember the last time I went out because I am ALWAYS straight home with them. They sleep on my bed. The come to the shop with me. And actually I would think my dogs- any dogs- would prefer 8-10 hours alone time 5 days a week with plenty of toys etc- the other 14 hours of the day with their very caring, loving owners. Not to mention the 48 hours of a weekend they are with me. blah

Ok that makes me a bad owner then. I was still in PJ's at ten. Did not have to go to work til 11 and I was cuddling on the couch with two labs and two cats. Looks like what I wear is more important than all attention mine were getting. My kids as teenagers stopped wearing PJs and wore trackies and tshirts instead. That way its hard to tell if they have just got up or not. Funny to think they would be better dog owners than me going on that reasoning. That has to be one of the craziest reasons I have heard of. It was showing she was disorganised apparently but I made sure no one thought that about me for that reason again Of all the things I would be worried about with someone coming to check whether I should have a dog or not that would have been definitely about the last of them. Not any more - no pjs in this house Heck after a long week of wearing uncomfortable corporate attire I usually wear my pjs all weekend lol

I love Adelaide As far as I know dogs are allowed on all of the beaches....

Mine slept in a crate beside my bed until recently when I was confident she wouldnt have any accidents in the house and now sleeps on my bed- and thanks to crate training there hasnt been any over night accidents so far Her taking up most of the bed space is another story. just be prepared to get up a few times and put it close enough to your bed so you can hear when he wakes up for the toilet- otherwise set a timer to get up every couple of hours.

Very nice posts You are both very lucky you found good homes for them. This one is what I went through for the first few months of Banjo. I got him from the rspca 'breed unknown' I am now certain he is at least part Sheltie. Anyway I just fell in love with him and being breed unknown I had no way to know his energy levels etc. The first few months were horrible. The poor little thing had so much energy to burn, came with so many fear agression and non stop barking issues and I deeply regretted choosing a rescue and wished I had of reaserched a breed so I could get a dog that suited me. Anyway after lots of work he was coming good and we thought a second dog would help even more this time I studied like crazy for a breed that would suit us. We ended up with Luda who really is perfect for us and she has calmed Banjo down so much that he isnt even the same dog anymore. He burns so much energy playing with her and I dont know- its like he grew up once he had a younger sister to look after

Why Do People Want To Breed Their Pet Dog?
jazawayaya replied to aussielover's topic in General Dog Discussion
I think a lot of it is becuase they buy a pup for 1200.00 from the pet shop and think why not. If I bought it for this much people will buy them off me for this much. I mean even if they have six pups and sell them at $800.00 each and nothing goes wrong, no c section vet check or anything thats $4800.00. To much temptation. I remember a friends mum when I was younger had her own backyard puppy farm on a regular suburban block! She had about 12 Cocker Spaniels that had tiny tiny runs. They never got walked, were never allowed inside, no interaction, definetly not vet checked or anything. In fact the closest vet to our town was half an hour drive away. Anyway they made tons of money. She was like the richest girl in our grade from selling these puppies in Sydney every month or so. I remember her going up one weekend with 12 puppies to drop off- sold for a grand each. They got a huge new plasma that time. Its sad but its true. Money can be and IS made from breeding- whether BYB with fluffy or by setting up your own money making factory. We go on and on about the cost of whepling etc but if you dont give a crap about vets or anything like that and just let them do it themselves there is a lot of money to be made. If your neighbour just made thousands by breeding fluffy every bogan on the street is thinking well why dont we? .....'oh but we are doing it becuase she is such a good dog' BULLSH1T your doing it because you want to make money! People dont care about health and temprement and lines etc. They just care about money. anyway there is my rant over. Oh and that girl is no longer my friend -
Banjo has one in his ear but I cant even see it... I dont think it would be that hard to tell whether a boy dog has been desexed though lol For a female I guess if she was ever lost or something people are able to tell easily whether she has been desexed if they cant see a scar etc I'm not sure if they put infomation like desexed on microchip- if they do im sure thats fine.

my whippet does it all the time! :D

People are and have been flamed for way less then some of the stuff that has come out of this persons mouth. Sorry I am upset but what does a person expect coming onto a website of dog LOVERS and saying some of this stuff? Of course people think the worse and react accordingly.
-
Someone- usually a bored kid that comes onto forums and stirs up trouble for fun pushing peoples buttons etc to gain a reaction. Really sad if its not.... No wonder all this BSL crap is going down. Anyone else notice basically all laws are made to protect the lowest echelons of society? People who go out and buy bill powerful bull breeds and toss em out and dont give a damn about them when it gets a little to hard. Oh and does stupid things like encouraging a little kid to mess with its food *slaps forhead*

Anyone else suspect OP is a troll? ;)

This has happened to me a few times now makes me so mad.

Take her to bed and have morning cuddles Morning cuddles are the best way to start a day hmmmmm I have to disagree lol Having a whippet who insists on either being on top of you or under you is not the best start to the day!

Do Puppies Have A Fluffier Fur Coat Then When They Grow Up?
jazawayaya replied to heroeswit's topic in Puppy Chat
When we first got Banjo his coat was very flat and thin..... Now he doesnt even look like the same dog! He is a big puff ball! he has sooooo much more hair! And its way softer! Since his breed is basically unknown I am just guessing its his 'winter coat' :-D Either that or good food and good health has brought him back to his original condition :D -
Goodness Kirislin no! She is nowhere near as skinny as that! I would be taking her to the vet and feeding her blocks of cheese and big macs if that was the case! hahah but seriously the poor little thing! glad you fixed her up :D I was having a really good look/ feel of her last night and after reading all this am sure she is fine ;) She gets plenty of food and I am increasing it with more raw food from now on...

whats the point of a school if everyone is already well behaved and knows everything? lopolla sent you a PM Yeah I hate that. At least 3 clubs I contacted wouldn't even accept me and Banjo when I said he barks all through the lesson- becuase they said none of the dogs would learn anything. What a load of bullcrap! Yeah lets start an obedience club but only take well behaved dogs *slaps forehead* Lol it worked out for the best anyway because I have such a great club now that helps ALL dogs when they need it most.
-
I used to have the exact same problem with my boy (admittidly he is heaps smaller and he had fear aggression issues) walking him or taking him anywhere was a nightmare and I hated it so much and I was so stressed I considered giving him back to the RSPCA lol Anyway what I did was after tons of searching found a training club that was perfect for us- it is aimed at dogs like this. They dont stuff around with treats becuase obviously with some dogs treats just wont work (in my case he didnt give a toss about treats). All it took was a couple of lessons being showed exactly how to use the check chain and 5 minutes with the head trainer and he is a different dog. I cant tell you how happy I am and how much both of our lives have changed for the better. Now all it takes is a 'leave it' when passing other dogs and he leaves them alone. I have a normal dog! Anyway what I am suggesting is you dont need to spend tons for one on one training- just find the right club and get shown how to use the check chain to its best potential- IMO the best training tool ever.

She will happily eat anything else hard!!! She does eat the kibble.... I have seen her eating it before.... Just hardly ever and one little peice at a time for about 5 peices... I dont think I want to be complete evil momma! haha From some sides she does look like a hat rack! lol I guess you can all tell I have never had a whippet or any type of sighthound before! So its fine that im not feeding special 'puppy' food? Since it seems she is going ok and I am going to bring more raw in
-
Phew! haha cant tell you how much of a relief to hear all this! I have been feeling so guilty for starving the poor thing! But still just out of curiosity.... If a dog was starving, kibble was available but she didnt like it- would she end up eating it? Or rather go hungry?
-
Ok good I am probably over reacting then I will still look into improving their diet anyway with more raw and less kibble!
-
I dont think she has much mucel tone :-S Here are some recent pics- So you can see her ribs usually when she is like this- This is the day we got her I cant find one of her standing up recently! Anyway what I will go is mix in the chicken mince and make her meals larger... if no improvement will try switching her kibble.... I really should just start feeding raw! *goes off to read the raw section*
