  1. if you get caught with one the fine is a minimum of $1000. They also cannot be registered anywhere in Australia
  2. Now that I have seen what everyone thinks I think you may be right Eishund about importing 12 months apart plus then they can be from different lines (also 1 may be from sweden and 1 from germany) for those wondering I'll be importing White Swiss Shepherds more new lines for Australia.
  3. did you do the 10-15min why at dog club or while at home? was the club ok with you changing dogs
  4. I'm looking at importing 2 dogs a male and female but I was wondering how people get around obedience/ conformation training with 2 or more dogs.
  5. well I'm looking at importing from germany and there are the same import rules there but I made an exaggerated estimate of $18000 for a Swiss Shepherd that way I have room for surprises. (I hope its exaggerated ) though if you talk to breeders of similiar breeds that have imported you might get a closer estimate. my estimate is just "what is the most someone would want" it may hopefully come to less but then it may still come to be more.
  6. my main issue as well but I have 2 dogs with different anxiety issues and if this fixed it it would be a lifesaver. Now to decide where to get it and what colour ;)
  7. I would but I'm a few thousand kms away. if noone can and your willing to put it on a plane i'll take one.
  8. thanks for the comments. Saffioraire I will most likely take you up on the offer I'm currently speaking with Michelle @ Fanuilos she has given me some great information. But I would say my research has only just begun and has a long way to go but as with all decisions like this if you don't put in the research you get disappointed in the long run. I have patience and I'm starting now as I won't be ready for a new dog until late 2014 so I might know what I want by then.
  9. Thanks for your comments guys. I was just asking to see how long others had their dogs in quarantine. I will most likely have the dogs in quarantine for just the minimum time as i don't like the idea of them being locked up for too long.
  10. the dog would be 6 - 9 months old depending on how long she would stay in quarantine. I was thinking of bringing a male and female over at the same time but i'm still undecided
  11. when importing a dog from a country that has rabies would you leave the dog in that country and get it to australia for the last 30 days. Or would you get the dog into australia as soon as they are allowed and spend up to 120 days? What periods have your dogs spent in quarantine? Does being in quarantine effect the dogs?
  12. swiss white shepherd. I know we have breeders in australia but I have personal reasons for wanting one from the breeder i'm looking at.
  13. I'm looking at importing a large breed dog from slovenia but I was wondering if anyone has any experiences with importing from there. I know it is a category 4 country so needs rabies testing but I was wondering if there is anything I need to be wary about.
  14. She sure has and she keeps getting bigger. She wasn't happy when she couldn't sit on the front seat in the car anymore :D but when she found out she could lay comfortably on the back seat she decided it wasn't so bad after all.
  15. http://www.defence.gov.au/christmas/mail/index.htmThis info was on the website tonight :p
  16. I've spoken to a minister for defence's assistant and they couldn't give me the info because it hasn't been finalised yet but she said it should be ready in the next couple of weeks. I will keep a look out for it and post it here when its released.
