Did you order the whole lot from the guy in Lancefield or did you buy the shed separately? Did it require council permit? ETA what size are the individual pens ie 10m squared

Beagles- What Do You Like About Them
heroeswit replied to heroeswit's topic in General Dog Discussion
Thanks for the replies so far. I forgot to add in the original post that I will be living with her and we will have at least two other dogs. She would have me there to help with training and discipline. She has helped train some of our other dogs and we would be walking ur dogs for a minimum of an hour a day all our dogs would be together so it would be in a pack. Hopefully when we may get the Beagle I should be working from home so they would have someone there most of the time. I forgot to ask how may they go with cats? -
So my sister has become very interested in Beagles. She won't be getting one for at least a year while she is at TAFE. I'm just wanting to know what other people think of the breed and if you have other dogs with your beagle and what breeds the other dogs are as we will have 2-3 White Swiss Shepherds when she will be able to get the Beagle puppy. Also what do you like about them? How easy are they to train? What things should we know about before we bring the puppy home?

I had just been thinking that I hadn't seen the news of whether Andrew and Dimples had been united and then it shows up today with updates and all. I've had tears in my eyes reading the stories of this topic and of the happy ending for both Andrew and Sapper. I have heaps of friends in the defence force and I hope to join them in the service soon but I feel for the soldiers that serve overseas and have their hearts torn apart while on duty. At least Andrew and Sapper make a great team and would have a whole extended family. they are all winners and deserve happiness.

maybe check out this Website I like the look of them (their in VIC though). Another Website also post pics of the finished product I would love to see

I would still consult a veterinary behaviourist even though you are getting the thundershirt just incase there is another issue the vet can determine.
-
Depending on what sort of anxiety issues your dog has I would possibly try a thundershirt. It worked really well on my pup that has anxiety when travelling and around people other than family. It does take a little time to work and does sometimes require additional training to ease the anxiety but it may be worth a look. But persephone's advice would be best as well

Hi, he's from Snoherden and we found him via a referral from Angie through Vallgardens. A two year search and wait is nearly over - I just hope he passes all of the AQIS acceptance paperwork so that he can start quarantine. Debbie from Manlotens in Sweden was involved in Angie's beautiful imports and has helped coordinate all of the blood tests, vet forms and everything else for us so we should be ok. Still, I can't relax until he's here, safe and with all the ticks in the right boxes. I'm just starting my search for the dogs i'm going to import but I'm going to import from 2 different countries (hopefully) I'm going to get a male and a female. Knowing what you want is the easy part then its the planning and then hoping everything goes right after all the planning. Good Luck with your boy

How Long Do You Need To Be Ankc Members
heroeswit replied to heroeswit's topic in Breeders Community
thanks for the replies. I won't be importing for at least 18 months but will be coming a member soon anyway so I can do agility with my other dog on the associate register. -
How long do you need to be a member of an ANKC body (dogs QLD) before you can get your breeders prefix? I will be importing my foundation bitch from europe. I'm not currently a member.

Thundershirt For Dogs With Fear/anxiety Etc
heroeswit replied to helen's topic in General Dog Discussion
I tried the thundershirt on my pup yesterday and the change was absolutely amazing she went from super hyperactive to being really calm and it has helped with her fear of men as well -
We have our dogs outside but it is how I have been brought up. When I get my own place the dogs will be allowed inside but since i'm still living with my mum I have to follow her rules. most dog in my area are outside dogs. I personally prefer to have my dog inside but I have to follow rules and my opinion makes no difference to the rules. We do allow the dogs into the bathroom when there is storms

Thundershirt For Dogs With Fear/anxiety Etc
heroeswit replied to helen's topic in General Dog Discussion
i've ordered 2 thundershirts from waggle and they are at my post office waiting for someone to go get them cause I can't drive at the moment. I'm looking forward to trying them on both my dogs as one is afraid of storms and one is afraid of people, men in particular, and car travel. will update about my experiences....... what is the best way to introduce the dogs to the thundershirt??? -
What Can You Do With Your Dogs When On Crutches
heroeswit replied to heroeswit's topic in General Dog Discussion
thanks for the replies guys i'm finding i can throw toys and balls etc all day and she is happy as long as she is near me (she knows something is wrong.... smart dog ) i'm teaching her to speak. this should actually be a good time for me with the extra training stuff i want to do with her. -
Well today I stood on a piece of metal that went through my foot now i'm on crutches for at least a week if not longer and I have no idea what I can do with my dogs to tire them out and keep them stimulated and exercised? also it is raining up here. Any suggestions would be great.

When Buying From A Registered Breeder Poll 1
heroeswit replied to SwaY's topic in General Dog Discussion
I prefer to see a breeders website that has info on their dogs and themselves before I contact them by either email or phone depending on where they are (overseas or Australia) It doesn't have to be flash but I do like it to be easy to navigate. As for being a member of their breed club its not important to me but if there is a breed club for the breed I would like to know why they aren't members. I would wait as long as needed to get the right bloodlines and also get a puppy from my preferred breeder. -
so sad but true for so many people
-
I was under the impression you could have one in NT or ACT? Or is this not the case? I was just going by what my council has said. So sorry if it came across wrong. I have now learnt that you can have them in some parts of Aus but you still cannot have them in QLD

Well we only have the one vet clinic in my area but the vet nurses/ receptionists are great. They all know me, Akasha and m car by sight, I have been in weekly for the last 2 months. they also know Akasha has people and noise issues so they book me in at quiet times but they also know if there is something wrong i will call and book in ASAP. There are a couple of vets that work there and I have finally decided the one I like the most and so I only see her. When you find a good place with great people you keep going back.
