I was going to be picking up my puppy on the thursday and back to work friday, now the puppy is coming Monday but she will still be spending a few hours by herself from the start. I am happier with this situation but I think it would have been fine either way. I also made mistakes with my first puppy so I am not making the same ones again.

I have to say "Do they know what capitals mean on the Internet? Spelling?" I would definitely run the other way and not stop.

My working week starts on thursday normally and ends sunday so she will have basically 3 full days with isolation but she will have the other dogs running around our yard so she should have the other things to occupy her mind if she does get bored

Ok so as some of you know I am picking my puppy up at the Airport on Thursday (Australia Day) and I have to go back to work on Friday then my next day off is Monday. I am wondering what I can leave with her in her pen to keep her entertained? I have a number of cardboard boxes, soft toys, rubber toys, squeaky toys, I also have a kong puppy size sml but I have no idea what I can put in it. Do you have any other suggestions

Yeah and that was 2 weeks ago. The anticipation is killing me. And making sure the transport company has the transport details fixed correctly.

My puppy arrives on Australia Day

Hey it took me ages to work this out but this is how ive done the last four entries for my co-owns. On the Surname side you put Surname 1/Surname 2 and then on the other name you put for example Miss Initial & Mrs Initial. And remember to use the co-own number on the certificate, not YOUR number on your card. So would it matter if the 2 parties are in different states?

My new puppy will be here in about 3 weeks.

I'm just wondering if any people in areas away from stockists get their local pet shop/ supply to get them in for them? What is the price comparison?

My response was mainly directed at fuzzy82 I also did thank the people who had given suggestions. I have been in contact with a couple of the local behaviourists today and will see what happens. Thanks to everyone that has offered suggestions I will take them on board

I didn't say I want the behaviourist to use a prong collar. I said "I'm looking for a behaviourist/ trainer in far north qld that is ok with the use of prong collars" I would never try to tell any trainer(or anyone else) how to do their job that's why i need to employ them. Plus I cope with that with my job everyday. I am not sure how to deal with the behaviours of my dogs which is why I am looking, because the one behaviourist I have dealt with recommends the halti as an aid but I have found that it hasn't worked for one of the dogs in particular. I have heard of good things about the prong collar and i was hoping to find a behaviourist who doesn't rule out the use of the prong collar. I am trying to do the best thing for my dogs that doesn't hurt them which the current recommendation seems to be which is why I am looking for another option. My timing might be off with corrections but without a trainer it is harder to know what i am doing wrong. If i am wrong to ask about trainers who would feel ok training with prong collars I'm sorry and I won't ask for advice again (I also understand why people only ask unusual questions once). I was just looking for advice if DOL had any to give, thank you to those with suggestions I will be looking into my options again. Edited for readability

I'm really hoping to start my dogs on this though I have to wait for the show circuit to start up here again as the freight from Townsville is a killer all the more reason to get my new puppy and start showing

Hi I'm looking for a behaviourist/ trainer in far north qld that is ok with the use of prong collars. I have 2 dogs that won't listen to corrections with either a check chain or a halti and I have heard good reports about prong collars but as I haven't used one I am looking at seeing a trainer to sort out the issues.

Hi I am wondering if there is anywhere in Australia that makes Aluminium Dog Crates that are suitable for air travel prefered. I found a couple in USA on Leerburg's website that are what I am looking for - Design 1 Design 2 I don't know if there is anyone I know c-crates use to do it but they don't reply to my emails about them and they don't have them advertised anymore. Would it be better to see local metal manufacturing shops about making them?

Hi yes we own our house I like your idea I think it would work well. I found the original idea I had been thinking about with a ramp Here But I am thinking I'll make the railing on the ramp a bit higher and then gate the other side of the stairs so she can't go down the stairs. I will hopefully be getting a White Swiss Shepherd.

I'm looking to puppy proof part of our veranda so the puppy I should be getting in a month or so doesn't escape from the outside play pen. So the issue I have is the veranda has gaps under and to the side of the stairs where the puppy will have access to the grassed area. I thought about putting shade clothe in the areas I'm worried about but I think any puppy would be able to chew straight though that. I'm not sure if carpet would work since it is outside. Does anyone have any ideas or experiences with this sort of thing? I will try to get some pictures of the area I'm talking about tomorrow

Thanks for the feedback. I've received a number of comments along the same lines. The response I received from Crazy says they believe it is strong enough to hold normal pets. As I am not sure what Crazy constitutes as a 'normal pet', to be safe we'll go with the stronger crate from Vebo. I have a vebo crate as well and it is great they are definitely the way to go.

I don't own a hydrobath yet though I dog have a dog washing service come by. what I would look for in a hydrobath would be the following: A Hinged door (no fiddling with alignment) A heater that could be switched off if a hot cold tap was available A good quality dryer built in but easy to access A second floor in the bath for when you need to wash smaller dogs/ puppies Somewhere for the shampoo etc to sit that is easy to get to easy to access/ work switches tie points at both ends and at different heights for different sized dogs and dogs that like to face different directions Easy to clean is definitely a high priority when washing multiple dogs I won't reuse water so that would not interest me. colour doesn't matter but I would love a purple one It would need to be a reasonable price and great quality I would like to get at least 15-20 years out of it. I think I have forgotten something but can't think of it right now

Dxenion I just got my crazy sales crate. the wire it is made from is very easy to bend and is very thin. I would only use it for young dogs as I don't think it would be able to keep larger dogs in. also the door on the short side is very low making it hard for the dogs to enter. The locks are a worry though they have a sharp point which could be dangerous.
