I feel your pain we had to put our old boy down at christmas time cause he developed a really bad bone cancer and the vets couldn't do a thing and they told us that with what it was hey couldn't have done anything anyway. it came up in less than 2 weeks and than he couldn't walk too well. he was a great dane cross and he died at just after 10yrs, now he is in heaven with his owner dad RIP DAD and Harry hope your girl lasts for a while longer

Just thought this pic was great (not great quality) do you give your big dogs bones similar to this?

Does denco-rub work????? What a bloody good idea! Watch out chair legs, here I come! wish I could use denco-rub it would be so easy but since I have allergies its a no go just like dog flea stuff with tea tree in it(you'd be surprised how many things have tea tree, menthol, eucalyptus in their ingredients') maybe I'll just have to fix my allergies but it sounds simple to use if it works

thats what I thought. the breeder said the mother won't have anything to do with the pups after 7 weeks. but doesn't just the interactions between pups make a difference in the long run? please tell me if I am wrong What does it actually do when pups are taken from their mother and litter early?
-
That's what I thought but she feels that it is the best time to go I plan on working out a way that I pick the pup up closer to 8 weeks since she will have the interstate pups still there
-
This is against our state bode is Code of Ethics,if the breeder gets caught they can be charged & fined. I would suggest you either say nothing or appreciate the breeder is bound by there COE to not place before 8 weeks Suggestion noted Thanks

that's a good way of doing it and it's good to hear nothing bad happened which would be great for all concerned. Congratulations on your new puppy. I can't wait to get mine the litter was only born yesterday. Good Luck with Ruby and Jasper.

thanks for the replies guys. The 2nd breeder I was talking to ended up putting the puppy into another home (which is fine by me). my local breeder just had a litter yesterday and I feel comfortable with her dogs and her breeding program. the litter had 5 girls and 6 boys and they all look wonderful even as 1 day olds, the only issue I have is the breeder releasing the puppy to me at 7 weeks instead of 8 she said it is because I live near her so there won't be any stresses on the puppy going to my home that early. Hopefully All goes well.

My White Swiss Shepherd breeder called yesterday to tell me the puppies were born 4/7/10 :) :p :p . 6 boys and 5 girls. I'm going to see them on the weekend I can't wait to bring my little girl home ;) I'll load pics when I get them.

I'm getting a new puppy(white shepherd) soon and I have a cat that is nearly 2 and I just want to start them off the right way so they get along without the cat terrifying the pup or causing harm to either. do you have any suggestions as to the best way to go about them meeting together? If there is topics that you can direct me too please do so Thanks for your help

My family has always had great dane crosses but Dad had always loved german shepherds especially white ones, but couldn't ever get one cause all the local GSD breeders culled whites. since Dad's death I have discovered White Shepherds and now I'm hooked; I was hooked the moment I saw a picture of one on google but once I met one in the flesh at my local breeders place I knew there was no going back - Now I should get my pup in about 2 months *yipee* But I love most big dogs and will always have one. I won't ever have a small dog Shepherds Are For ME

I'm not sure what to do. I have been speaking to my local breeder of my desired breed and she has a litter due on the 6th July but I have also been talking to another breeder from NSW who has one that could go to homes on the 5th of July. The price of each comes to about the same so that isn't really a factor but I'm not sure what to do. Do I wait for the local breeders Litter who I have been dealing with for months or do I get the Puppy that is almost ready to go to homes? The problem I'm having is the fact that I have been speaking with my local breeder for months and I don't know how I can just turn around and say that I have gone and got a dog from another breeder and so I don't need a dog from her. What are your thoughts on this situation and what would you do? Thank You for your comments

Wow you are very organised! I think you've got all your necessities covered; any accessories you want is up to you. Have you thought about getting an ID tag (I'm thinking of investing in one of these, but for the moment I brought an ID Tube) and also maybe an enzyme cleaner like Urine Off to stop the pup going to the toilet in the same place in the house? yeah i've looked into ID tags the breeder is supplying one with the pup when I pick it up but I'm going to get one of these that I like better and I can put what I want on it. yeah I will be getting some urine off as well (I have know idea how to use it - we have never used it before - I would say the instructions would be on the label) I may also be moving just before or after I get my puppy so I need to be organised now

Plain natural yogurt, preferably one with all the good stuff in it like ABC cultres/probiotics Raw is fine, including the shell. I sometimes give my dog warm scrambled eggs in winter but otherwise just crack them in, you don't have to cook them. Old wives tail. COOKED bones of any sort are a no go as they can splinter but RAW is fine. Raw chicken bones are soft and easy to digest for most dogs Thanks for the info SecretKei. I think I might try my dog with chicken frames, necks, wings. < whats better for a young pup?
-
Buggerme I'm also getting a shepherd though i'm getting a white swiss shepherd. what sort of yoghurt is ok for dogs, and do you just put raw eggs or cooked? (raw eggs gave my dane cross the most awful smell ) I've always been told that chicken bones were a no go with dogs (is this an old wives tale?)
-
I carry an aerosol can like deodorant spray or something similar, also try a dog whistle (may be wrong but I've seen it work) hope Misty is fine GOOD LUCK
-
how do you work out what portions to give when mixing kibble and say chicken wings - when fed at separate times morning and night? would you feed it everyday or only a couple of times a week?
-
:D  enjoy yourself..... and your new puppy

I'm looking at giving my new puppy Royal Canin German Shepherd puppy food but I also want to give the pup fresh meat what is the best way to do this? my thoughts were to replace 100g of RC with fresh meat (beef, chicken, etc.) would this work or is there another way it can be done? the puppy i'm getting is a white swiss shepherd and the breeder recommends that feed the pup RC GSD and I would prefer to stick to the breeders suggestions. at the moment I don't want to go for a completely raw diet. Thank you for your help
