I am getting my new border collie puppy in 11 days (and counting) and was wondering if someone could tell me which plants are bad or poisonous for dogs to be near. I have 2 quite large flower beds which are currently empty and I am going to make one a vegie patch and one a flower bed and was wondering what plants and fruits/vegies I should avoid. They will be fenced off with mesh but I dont want to put something poisonous or bad for dogs in the garden on the off chance he might somehow get into the garden bed! Thanks!

Can I be totally ignorant and ask if they will end up being the same colour as mum?? cause they all look so dark! How many different colour variations do they come in?? 11 days!! Nearly single digits!! hahaha

OMG he is so adorable! Love the one with his paws over his eyes but LOVE LOVE LOVE the one with him asleep with his tongue poking out!!! soooo cute! And your older puppy is gorgeous as well. Sigh - love a good puppy pic

I know I feel very lucky that she sends me so many photos! And she takes great ones!! She emailed that she got a new camera and spends most days outside just photographing them all - wish I could do that! Although I have bought a new digital SLR so hopefully will get some great shots of him when he is here in 14 days!!!!! Aww you should take a pic of Oreo running, he sounds cute!! Are we getting badger pics yet?? hint hint

Ask and you shall receive!!! After my earlier email to the breeder for my puppy fix I got these 3 - and how cute is the zoomies one!!!

Ok so the dog nutritionist from Eukanuba replied and said she would feed depending on parents size and puppy size. She said the main difference between medium and large breed puppy is the levels of calcium and phosphorous and the large breed was designed to slow the rapid growth and to decrease joint problems. She said a more active pup could have large breed so I think I'll go with that. She also said to keep them on puppy food until 18 months and if at 18 months they are "standard" size you could safely switch across. I hung up a little confused regarding lipids calcium and phosphorous levels!! ;)

ok I went to the Eukanuba website and emailed them BUT there is a thing they have going at the moment you answer a few questions and they send you a puppy book and a voucher to get a 3kg bag of food for free! I entered so will let you know what the book is like, you had to enter breed of dog so I wonder if the puppy book is breed specific??? either way just letting people know its there if your interested

Its hard isnt it?? My old border was very tall and wasnt standard size so I was happy for him to be on large breed as was the vet's reccomendation. I wonder exactly how much difference there is between medium and large breed, I might look on the eukanuba website as this is something i'll need to know shortly myself.

Love the ears and her squished up nose Nicolatu - we fed my old border Jordan Eukanuba large breed puppy, he was quite big for a border, very tall so we stuck with that. I will start Bailey out on what he is used to from the breeder and slowly transition across to large breed I think. Off to pester breeder for more photos

I think I have a problem, I cant stop buying puppy toys!!! *sigh* i think there are about 20 different squeaky ball bone rope tug things in the box now. At least he will have options, and I can rotate! Puppy pics puppy pics please!!

QuickBrownFox- Bailey's breeder was interstate as well so I didnt get to pick him, the breeder picked for us. We had to fill out a questionnaire of about 40ish questions on what we wanted, our experience , what we planned to do with the dog, thoughts on training, desexing etc etc and with multiple emails and calls she chose Bailey for us. I trust her judgement, she has been breeding them for years! and I kind of think if I had to go and choose one personally I would be stuck for hours playing with them all! Of course this obviously means she chose the best one for me!

Aww get oreo a friend!! I'm a big dog fan, not much of a fan of smaller dogs, which is strange that I had 2 maltese growing up but once I could get my "own" dogs I got a border and never looked back! Even had 2 goldens and a GSD with my ex but now those dogs live with him and my border went over the bridge a few weeks ago. I'm having trouble sleeping now, dont tell me it gets worse!! hahahaha awwww look at mindy, shes so shiny and cute!!

Wel I think he is 6 weeks now so only 2 more to go, 15 days but I'm not counting I swear! hahaha ok maybe I am!! Bought some more things for him today, really am sooo bad but anyway!!! I love all his photos and I agree the breeders got some really great ones of him. I have a new digital SLR so it will be getting a work out once Bailey gets here, in the meantime I follow the kids and the cat around. And on an even stranger note have noticed that the cat we have (Alfie) and Bailey will have similar markings I think I need some adult time, all these kids programs are making my head mush!!! Yay for new puppies, how exciting!!! Anyone got any new pictures to share???

Aww thanks I think he's cute too. My older border Jordan's tail used to curve up like that when he was excited or playing games! The rest of the time it just hung down! Are you getting oreo a friend??
