  1. speicialised windscreen I didnt have to pay just amount quoted, windscreen repaired small chip which they botched so had to then replace it at their cost- radio antennae in top of glass.
  2. yep that is it windscreen in car is $500 so large door is cheap by comparison
  3. I have one dog on ANKA associate register although both parents were full pedigree due to a accidental mating he is a X breed hence associate so he still does Obedience/agility under ANKA banner and only registered by his 'pet'name New pup full register breeder allowed me to chose her full name and all the other names I suggested were used for all the other pups in litter only stipulation was they had to be "D" names. As 2 names have to be submitted for registration for each dog sometimes first one is rejected and second is taken, this is to ensure no'illegal'names are submitted (according to ANKA rules), and with so many dogs regitered often you get clashes, heaps of diva's but if there is slight difference in other names they allow it. As example you can get a 'Dancing diva' and a 'Darling diva' with different prefix in front and this is acceptable. I ws lucky my first choice was accepted as another dog does have same name, but with my breeder's prefix and addition of one extra word in name it was passed :)
  4. Try http://www.grevillealodge.com/bb/ is purpose built private 2 seperate self contained rooms with shared kitchen and dinning and huge secure yard, dog pen if needed built out back, all dogs large and small totally welcome inside and owner is faboulous and will accomodate all your needs :) I have stayed there on numerous occaisons very central, shops short walk across road, bus stop close, 20 mins to Canberra institue of sport and Canberra raiders stadium. Very quite, comfy, cosy and friendly.
  5. Just replied to exact same question in this site, and there is a chap who specialises in making these and installing he is very reasonable and is either on gold coast or close by as he installed my daughter's I can get his details if you are interested just PM me. Secret to getting dog to go through is make a big game of it all, have door held open for few days, throw food through it or toy etc and give heaps praise and reward as dog does the desired 'go through' behaviour, then what I did was teach touch which my dog already knew to touch my body or hand on command, I transferred this to touch and made the target the door flap, every time he succeeded I rewarded with high level treat (chicken his favourite), then next step was holding door as he went through I let it gently slide along his back again praising and rewarding all this took baby steps and over a month as he was older when introduced to this dog door concept, eventually he just commenced pushing flap and going out but initially would not come back in. the type of door we had was plastic flap with option for another lockable non see through material as well, this one was never used as he refused to go through. Many dogs do not like the 'bang' sound the flap makes when it hits base of hole so take this into consideration in your final purchase.
  6. Hi I purchased 2 X102cm high 8 panel each 60cm wide, heavy duty zinc alloy coated and painted black which were all interconnected and completely folded up to fit into a small sedan boot, One panel has a door to allow dog to be let out or in etc. They came with steel pegs to secure into ground outdoors, the 2 together fit completely around walls of my gazebo when at shows or camping etc. Have also used as stair blocking for grandkids, around a cabin verandah when travelling to keep dogs enclosed, attached with bungy cords. they can be used in various configurations from square, rectangular, round octaganol etc, and stretched out flat for fencing with 'posts' to keep upright. I also purchased a purpose made mesh shade soft roof. Obtained from www.crazysales.com.au When I purchased they were around $55 each, if you look on ebay they may have some 'used' which are cheaper.
  7. Option A is purpose made insert which comes with 3 deadbolt lock in and key and fits into existing screen surround, has large dog door in base which can be locked if required, trouble is any small human child can also fit through and enter house then unlock inner door for house entry. Option B is also purpose made glass and dog door sliding set up, again size of dog requires large size door which = ease of intruder access. Both of above options were available through screen and slide door speciality manaufacturers and expensive. My daughter had one fitted for their British Bulldog and also had a huge heavy dog cage made and it fitted on outside up to area where dog door was allowing dog access in and out of house to pen run during day as a pup and kept him secure as well as house. My dog refused to use dog door no matter how much luring and rewarding etc so went with indoor downstairs cement area toilet mat, large tarp (waterproof) with newspaper and peice of artificial turf overlay, this can easily be hosed and paper refresed and tarp hosed and also having a few from cheapy shop means I can change around. Dog only uses this when I am away for longer then 8 hours seems very good at holding on, but option is there if he needs it.
  8. I used disposable newborn baby nappies with a small hole cut for tail and anal area, easily adjusted for size of dog, did the job nicely in keeping mess off carpet bedding etc, and as I started training bitch to get her use to having them on she had no problem accepting them just like her hair/ear wraps. You can get the cheap brands from Aldi or similar low cost stores.
  9. Possibly could have had parvo virus and this is now symptoms 'left over' from the effects of the virus, unless specific blood work is done to see if parvo is evident then you would not know if dog has been vaccinated against parvo it doesn't necessarily stop them getting it just less severe if they do. Other possibilty is Diabetes but this should have been tested for in normal blood work. Dog may have sustained a head knock at some stage unseen and had momentary loss of consciousness and is now showing post head injury symptoms. Renal dysplasia is common in shih tzu breed and one of symptoms is incontinence and frequent urination, so urine test may point to this by level of protein, and specific gravity of urine. specific blood work looking at Kidney function indicators would also show elevated levels, definative diagnosis is not cheap and risky to dog as involves fine needle biopsy of kidney and or renal ultrasound. Diet is very important with this disease and makes a big difference to quality of life A low protein, low phosphorus, restricted sodium diet is usually prescribed. And final thought is some type of poison to the system affecting the nervous system, dog may have eaten a plant, come in contact with a cane toad, spider bite, all very hard to detect and give variable symptoms but especially those you mention - limb tremor, muscle failing (inability to jump and lethargy), depression etc.
  10. There is a very discreet (mostly unknown) huge well fenced dog off leash park which is just off the Gateway motorway (Deagon Deviation section), corner of Telegraph Road and lemke road Bracken Ridge there is huge parking area just off the round a bout with gate entrance there and also another gate entrance in Telegraph road, no shelters lots of shade trees, water available for human and dogs, seats, a small gully when it has been wet, backs onto the Lost dogs home, Due to the laneway entrance which is not signposted it is hard to find if not a local. No onsite toilets but service station across road. There is also a Dog off leash area in Marchant Park at Chermside just after the main entrance on right, only problem with this one is limited parking due to all the shoppers clogging up the park now there is paid parking in the shops across the road It does have shelter, water, ground is not that dog friendly quite stoney and ants around. Another is the smaller very new off leash park in Beams Road on left behind St Flannens School just before small bridge crossing. A great one is behind Hungry jacks on Gympie road at Carseldine, this one has the lot and is accessible by driving around behind the truckies stop. There is also a good one at end of Muller Road at Taigum where it backs onto Freeway quick access off the freeway at Boondall onto Sandgate Road then into Roghan Road and right into Muller road drive to very end. On the Southside the huge one in Meadowlands Road at Carina also has a mini dog agility course, toilets in park nearby, heaps parking, picnic facilities etc, and this one is accessible straight off the freeway either from South or North, it can get busy on W/e Hope this is helpful :)
  11. I used a small rectangle of plastic garden matting sourced from hardware shop attached ribbons to it with a small stitch on each end then placed an A shape hanging cord on either end with a peice of flat dowel across centre of back to keep it flat, Now have 2 rectangular and one larger square hanging on wall and they look colourful and very 'arty'. Also used large sheet of blue shade cloth to attach many pennants/medals and rossettes to and hung with a peice of dowel at top, these bleong to Agility dog
  12. Thanks everyone for all the suggestions and the sharing of similar problems with poodles. I introduced a new food slowly last week and she was very keen to eat it So then decided on new tac - stop the animalac keep up the nutrigel, remove the dry biscuits and only feed twice a day but smaller amounts initially and hey presto this week we are hungry and interested in "when is the food coming to the bowl mum" So at possible expense of maybe a drop in weight I will persevere and see how we go. with a gradual reintroduction of the dry food and increase in amount of the special blend wet food. It has been suggested to me that like humans she may just be bored with same old food every day so am trying to do a week about without upsetting her digestion etc. Today saw her first ever 'guarding' of food bowl and pushing older dog away and then she actually barred her teeth and flew at him when he went to take her special chewey beef strap (first time ever she has had one). while I won't allow food protecting and like behaviour a "leave it" saw my older dog retreat and she happily went back to trying to bury her new treat. so maybe suddenly she has turned a corner and realised that food is actually good stuff :D
  13. Yes she is crate trained and will go in as soon as I say "Go crate", even just goes in at times by herself, and very settled and happy 90% of time only issue we have is Eating.
  14. Me too and I am serious now about demanding more blood work, previous general screen has shown nothing except for indication of infection when she was ill, that has resolved, iron studies good, no other immediate abnormalities evident.
  15. Travelling over on the huge car ferry to KI dogs will be locked in car for trip or can be taken on lead up to top deck which is absolutely FREEZING cold and often blowing a gale and if raining you will get wet!, passengers must get out of cars and go on ferry and driver only takes car on board and then can go up stairs, so be prepared for this one with that many dogs on board! It takes around 2houras to drive down to Cape Jervis where ferry departs from as it is right at bottom of penninsula from Adelaide central. Most of KI is national park Dogs prohibited from entering same. But there are area's where you can take dogs watch the beaches as some of them are resting places for giant sea lions who are not friendly to animals or humans. Lots of wildlife on the Island which is of course protected. Also lots of wildlife rangers who enforce protection :) Heaps to see and do we did not even have enough time in a week, you will be restriced by so many dogs though as many of the wonderful sightseeing (Remarkable rocks/several lighthouse tours/zoo/sand dune escape/American River township cafe's etc/ Admiralty arch and nesting seal colony) are all in national parks. there is a boarding facility on the Island - http://ki-kennels.com.au/ though limited in capacity. also unless you are camping here is http://www.tourkangarooisland.com.au/lib/docs/mf2014.pdf some places that offers dog friendly accomodation. Some are quite expensive No pre requisits for vetting etc are required.http://www.kangarooislandvet.com/ just in case you do need the services. Safe travels and enjoy :)
  16. Thanks Stitch for your reply :) Yes did the crate thing all she does is become seriously agitated clawing and scratching frantically at her bedding and the crate while other dog just goes to sleep. And yes we have such a routine that you could set the clock by it, even tried messing it up to see if that would work. But thanks for suggestions, I have found that the food bowl is part of problem she does not seem to like the S/S one so changed to flat old tupperware dish and she likes this better, also does not like food cold so if I just take the temp off it slightly that helps, such a FUSSY dog
  17. My poodle pup does this exact same thing every so often they do seem to have a cat like gag when trying to dislodge something.Possibly a small crumble fromthe charcoal tablet has lined her throat and caused this whenever I am giving a tblet of any sort to either dog I always put a small coating of honey or oil on them to make sure they stay intact until down the oesophagus so no chance of dissolving on back of tongue or in throat.
