  1. I love the responses as well. Going by those photos, mainstream US is really embracing the 'pibble' as well There are a few families with houses full of dogs!!
  2. My two do this as well. My stafford also makes this odd noise, it's like a wail, that she only does when playing this game! They often play and then fall asleep in a pile.
  3. Mine do this as well Well one does anyway, not hard to spot the guilty party. She has to put her whole head under the water to get them out. We always had boys and they never had this problem, the vet told me it was because boys pee more often and girls hold onto it longer so it builds up more acid and the amount of pee is obviously more. I have given up and just live with burnt grass. We have buffalo and it seems to grow over the marks quickly in summer. Not looking forward to if we want to sell anytime.
  4. I read it as farmers are having to endure 'frenzied' wild dogs attacks on their livestock. Not that they have rabies! The article is about not being allowed to bait wild dogs in crown land. Not sure how it relates to a dog attacking it's owner?
  5. Orbee Tuff Ball on a rope! Two years and still going strong. Great to throw, you can throw it really far and the SBT loves to tug with it. The other favourite is the iSqueak ball, I have to hide it as they start playing and squeaking at 3am
  6. The dog tries to pick something up before it walks up the rocks? Just looks like an excited dog barking to me. No hard stare, turning it's head and licking it's lips. Definitely no aggression.
  7. I use VAN + kangaroo mince three times a week and RMB the rest of the time. My 2 year old Stafford seems to put weight very easily and dog biscuits (I haven't tried Eagle Pack) seem to keep her on the heavier side. With the VAN, she is lean and her coat is great I suppose it's like everything, what works for one dog might not for another but VAN is definitely worth a try IMO.
  8. We have the Doggy Delight one. I use it in winter every now and then. In summer I wash them on the lawn.
  9. What a load of rot. It will determine date, time, place and cause of death. It's then up to the coroner if she decides to make recommendations. This is not about the dog - it's about the little girl who was killed! Actually it is also about the dog, they will be looking into how the dog was kept, it's demeanour before and after the attack and to determine the breed of the dog. They are also reviewing identification policies of the council and the dog laws before and after the attack. Glad to see it is happening. If anything can be learned from this to help stop this type of thing happening again, it can only be a good thing.
  10. http://www.perthnow.com.au/news/western-australia/dog-squad-set-loose-on-wild-parties/story-e6frg15c-1226301916894 We have a police dog in our town and all the other coppers are scared of it!! What happens to these dogs when they retire?
  11. Apart from it not being ethical/professional to experiment on other peoples dogs, do you know for sure that the dogs have no food training experience or even e collar training? If these dogs are peoples pets I would say most have had some sort of food training. As you don't know the history of these dogs I don't think that it would be possible to get accurate results.
  12. I'd be taking him back to the breeder and demanding my money back
  13. Maybe an education campaign for puppy buyers? They are the ones that are buying, if they find something suspect they can report them to the appropriate place. Lots of people have no idea about the right way to buy a puppy or what to do if something isn't right, probably because there isn't a lot of awareness on the subject. I understand that it easy to hop on the net and find out but let's face it, most don't until something goes wrong. An education campaign to raise awareness would help. Not sure who would be the correct organisation to do something like that but I am sure you guys do!
  14. Mmmm, really makes me want to waterproof my camera! Love the first and second ones.
  15. Thanks for posting. What a great story. Although I do hope that they can catch him, I would think the area has ticks and heartworm. Maybe they should put a bitch in season out in a cage and then nab him
  16. There are quite a few good online shops. It depends on what you are looking for. When I am looking for something, I go and check out them all and check prices! Good place to start would be the advertisers on this site.
  17. I also use one of those automatic fly spray dispensers around the dogs beds outside, not where they can reach it. I don't particularly like these but like you I'm desperate.
  18. This is a bit inspiring! http://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/style/seth-casteels-surreal-photos-of-dogs-underwater/2012/02/15/gIQA1uXFGR_gallery.html?wprss&google_editors_picks=true#photo=1 Pity I can't get in the water with my camera.
  19. Australia is currently in the grip of 'Black Caviar' fever. How popular is greyhound racing? I am of the understanding that gambling in Australia is more popular than ever just not sure of how much of that is greyhound racing. I just can't see horse racing going anywhere.
  20. I can think of plenty of things to be more appalled at in the animal world than a dog humanely put down at the vet!
  21. Both my dogs had the same as just1more's dog last year, vet said the same thing probably a reaction to some plant or animal. No sign of it this year Pretty sure one dog was reacting to the grass as she would lay on her side and then get up and be covered in lumps. But no repeat of it this year, yay. But the other one had the lumps all over.
  22. Thanks for posting. Not much has changed from the first one. Home delivery of dog meals
  23. In the reading I have done, it is the same reason quoted when they are reversing BSL. It is just too hard to determine what a pitbull is, the governments/councils are going to court and being defeated too often and it is a costly process.
  24. I know nothing about showing but this thread as well as others have opened my eyes. I will probably never show but can now at least appreciate what is being achieved by showing dogs. I even now want to go and see some dog shows. And I think that in that way, this forum has achieved one of its objectives which is promoting purebred dogs. Years ago I too would have looked at that dog and thought it was ridiculous but this thread has informed me that there is a well formed dog under all that hair and that is how it would have been judged. What appears to be obvious to the people in the know, can be bewildering to us who have no idea And I love a healthy debate!
